Two claims approved; company to work on attention to detail and online claiming issues – Purchased Tick Travel Standard for a 12 night international holiday to Thailand. I think the policy was affordable: $219 for two adults for unlimited medical expenses and caps on other expenses. technical issue, I was unable to submit my claim online and instead needed to email the company who then emailed me the list of documents and claim form that I needed to complete. It took a couple of times for me to get an answer from representative via email about why the online portal wasn't working and they put it down for a possible technical issue. Although the claim was approved in a timely manner (four days), I found it a bit frustrating needing to complete a pdf claim form since this was more work than completing an online form.
After submitting the claim form which included my banking details, the representative still asked for me to send banking details which was a little tedious as I had already provided this.
Overall, these inconveniences weren't major so I had a positive experience with Tick Travel.

in Bali and purchase a new ticket to India with a different airline at my own expense.
I submitted a claim to Tick Travel Insurance for these costs, but they refused the claim, stating that the flight delay did not meet their requirement of a 12-hour delay.
This condition was not clearly highlighted at the time of purchase. The insurance was paid for, and only afterward was a disclosure statement sent with the invoice. Had I known about this 12-hour delay requirement beforehand, I would not have purchased this insurance.
In my view, this is misleading to consumers. Please be very careful and read all the fine print before purchasing travel insurance from Tick Travel.

Pretty sure the high ratings are all paid. It's super easy to get a policy but once you need to make a claim, you're in trouble. You get 1 response asking for documents for when you try to make a claim and then radio silence once you submit everything. I would be better off not taking a policy than trying to save some money by going with Tick Show details
Follow-up · Escalated the case to AFCA then I was bombarded by calls from Tick. If you have any issues, raise it with AFCA. My case was resolved within a week.

needed to return to Australia for treatment. After 20 minutes of back and worth , I provided all requested documentation and a photo of the wound. The nurse said they would be back to me in 6 hours. 24 hours later nothing. I then organised and paid for my return to Australia. I contacted Tick on arrival in Sydney to be told that it took 10 business days to approve a claim. My response was to ask if I should have remained in Africa dying from blood poisoning while that occurred, there was silence. I have been sent 2 links to an online claim form, neither allows me access I get no response to emails about how and why. Unless you have deep pockets to pay for everything yourself do not endanger yourself by purchasing this insurance. Do not take the risk if travelling with a product like this. It has been a very painful lesson for me.

medical team agreed and had advised urgent surgery at home, the financial team were still reviewing my case and we would hear back soon. We decided to organise our own flights. We rang the following Tuesday as we had not heard anything from Tick. The Financial team are still reviewing my case!! Tick medical team agreed it was urgent but 6 days after my fall, the finance team are still assessing my claim. Travel Insurance Company that goes against its own medical teams advice. The stress this company created was unbelievable. There is more but I get too angry when I think about it.

but always had travel insurance with either my bank card, RAC or Allianz .. Well what an expensive mistake, the first flight was delayed and we missed the connecting flight, I had to purchase tickets in the thousands $ to complete the trip, thinking well at least this time I will claim and get something back .. Well the claim after few months of back and forth got rejected , why, because the delay was for operational reasons, I can’t get anything not even the $500 I paid for this useless policy. What frustrates me the most is that , they knew the reason of the delay from the get go, when I submitted all the supporting documents but no they had to drag me for months , asking for more evidence then more explanation then lastly a written statement from the airline… all of this time and energy that I will never get back. documentation for the cancellation due to operational reasons only for Tick to say, I'm sorry but that is NOT covered in your policy. It turns out that the only way it is covered is if I myself cancel the trip due to extenuating circumstances ie: death, Therefore the policy is really not worth the paper it is written on!!!
These Travel insurance policies are COMPLETELY WORTHLESS!!
Be very careful with what you are actually paying for and look at the PDS before donating your hard earned money to these false policies, and it really is only a donation as 95% of what you think you are covered for is NOT at all!!!
