very happy with our tillreda, but it occasionally turns its fan on for no apparent reason? unplugging and then plugging back in cures it - till the next time it happens. i see the questions already been asked previously, but didn't elicit any response. i'm sure the op and myself would like to know whether we should be returning our units under guarantee?

Same here. 2 days old! Done it twice. The second time, I turned the unit on and then OFF and the fans stopped

How long should the fan continue to operate? Mine was still going after 20 minutes although the hob felt cold.

The fan of my Tillreda switches off after about 10 to 15 minutes or so. Does anybody know if it is allowed to pull the power plug while the fan is running after cooking? Or should you wait till after the fan has stopped.

When the fan seems to go on, I switch the unit power on and off and it stops at once. I'm not sure if this is a bad move but no harm so far. I use the Tillreda for all my cooking, even jam turns out better simmering on 1 or 2.

My Tillreda appears to work - I have turned it on and successfully boiled water - but the display does show anything, no wattage or temperature. Am I missing a setting?

Sorry for this talk, because IKEA products are of the cheap type and are made in China of the cheap type, which has no quality, unfortunately. Everyone suffers from this totally useless device but IKEA won our money

I’ve bought this to use in a campervan on an extension cord to connect in the caravan park. Instruction say not to use with an extension cord. Do I return it and any ideas for another option?

I've had the Tillreda for a week. All cooking has gone fine until today. For the first time I tried boiling a large pot of water at 1800 Watts. After just seven minutes the Tillreda suddenly beeped and the child lock light came on and the 'H' was flashing'. The water was warm but certainly had not boiled. Anybody know why this happened?

Sheng-Te T.
Sheng-Te T.

'H' means that the unit is overheating internally. There are magnetic coils and electronics inside, and the electronics will be fried by high temperature. Make sure that your unit's fan is working (without the fan to blow out the hot air the unit will heat up too fast internally). If the unit is not defective you should be able to continue boiling your large pot of water after the unit has cooled down.

Please help. So I got the Tillreda cooker thing and I bought a stainless steel 4-quart pot that is magnetic but I still can't get the Tillreda to do anything besides say E1. What am I doing wrong?

Skye H.

how magnetic does it have to be like strong enough that a fridge magnet works or is any magnet good

Jon Moore

any magnet should suffice. check youtube there are plenty of videos about this.

How can I vary the size of the pots on the tillreda? It seems I can only use my large skillet and not a shall sauce pan to heat things

Rod Perry
Rod Perry

Check your small pot is magnetic. If it is not magnetic it won't work on an induction cook top.

Can I use my 9” cast iron fry pan on the hob?

Eloise20

Just bought ours today and no matter which pot you use it continues displaying E1 error.

Gerald Genta
Gerald Genta

E1 means cookware is not suitable for induction. Check your cookware with a fridge magnet and if the magnet doesn't stick to the bottom of the cookware then the it's not induction compatible. Most cast iron and stainless steel cookware should work on induction and some aluminium cookware has induction compatible base like the Ikea TROVÄRDIG.

What does the E-7 error code mean?

The Ikea Tillreda works well for me if I use it for any kind of boiling with water (chicken, vege, etc) but it won't work if I use it for any other cooking styles (stir fry, deep fry, etc.). It definitely not because of the type of saucepan because I used the same one. I understand it might not work if there is not enough food/oil/water in the saucepan (it thinks the saucepan is empty). In this case, deep fry means lots of oil, still doesn't work. Please help, thank you.

I do stir fry with it in an induction suitable frypan.

Rod Perry

It doesn't matter if the pot has something in it or not, if it is the right pot, it will heat up. Test the pot with a magnet. If the magnet sticks to the bottom, then it will work on this cook top. How these cook tops work is the cook top producers a magnetic field under the pot causing the iron particles of the pot to vibrate very quickly generating heat. You may not have the pot on the cook top in the right spot or the cookware is not suitable for this cooktop.

hi ,tillreda induction hob doesnt work at all, after opening the lock and turning it on, is showing E1.i change the cookwares steel shows that code. can anyone help me please?

Wil
Wil

Usually an E1 code means that the cookware is up to the standard. Try an old iron griddle or another stainless steel pan from a different set. Aluminium pots and cheap tin pans don't work. I found in the hob only one pan that didn't work and it was a cheap Chinese knockoff.

None of my pans work on this hob. They are quite heavy with some copper in the base. Why is this?

S Tam
S Tam

For pots and pans to work with induction, you will need them to be made from ferrous material. If a magnet sticks, it should work. Otherwise, it is of a material that is unaffected by magnetic field/waves.

I was fortunate enough to start using induction when I moved out. This gave me the opportunity to start fresh and exclusively look for cookware that is induction compatible.

Which pan can we use on the Tillreda pan? In the product Description ir seams Every material is excluirdes-vos. Thanks and best wishes

S Tam
S Tam

Just make sure you buy pans that claims to be induction compatible? Just as you would if you were shopping for a pan for an induction cooktop in the first place.

That said, all cast iron pans work naturally.

But is it more than a gimmick for someone with a gas or electic stove?

Is this a potential camping item?

S Tam
S Tam

Hi Cannulator, Interesting question. Something that I actually had first-hand experience with too. My rental situation provides me with electric hobs. I bought this because it gave me much better power from the actual pan.

A week ago, I went to my friend's house with a pack of frozen rhotti and my favourite non-stick pan. Initially, I tried using their gas stove. After about 5 minutes on the gas hob, I decided it was rubbish. Let me tell you, the gas hob was generating a LOT of heat. Problem was, too much of that heat was going to ME instead of the pan. Lucky I actually had this unit with me.

I hate to sound like I'm advertising here. I am in no way affiliated with ikea.

As for camping.... Well, I wouldn't really recommend it. Unless you're going to those powered campsites, which really defeats the purpose of camping in the first place (but hey, to each their own)!

Otherwise, you'd need to be hooking up to an actual generator (which you will need to bring) to supply you with that 2000W of electricity. By the time you calculate the loss there, and also the exhaust you inhale, you may as well go for an LPG stove like me. Or, better still, fire up some coal.

Good luck!
