Hi, is there any cost at all (now and in the future)for using your sd card for video storage and retrieval? And are all features of the cameras available if using the sd card and not cloud subscription? Thank you

Nope, it’s just a stand alone micro SD card that records in a loop and keeps erasing the previous recordings, them not being of much use beyond the last half dozen or so. It’s got all the bells and whistles you need just using the SD card by itself.

If you’re paranoid over keeping stacks of useless video clips you can upgrade to iCloud for more storage for a fee, not sure why you’d need that but otherwise it’s a great little CCTV though I think my 310 model is probably superseded! Got it connected to 240V close to my modem!

Do these cameras offer the option to record to a NAS/shared drive on my home network or to Google Drive cloud storage?

Hi BobM, Yes, the Tapo C310 does allow the option to record footage to a local NAS drive using either ONVIF or RTSP protocols. You can lean more about this and how to set this up through our guide available via the link below:

Does it continuously record the video or just record the motion sensor videos?

You set it up in the App to tell it when to start/stop recording. Mine starts at 10.00 pm and off at 6.00 am. You can also adjust the sensor to make it less sensitive, from very sensitive to hardly at all. Numerous options for the area to be scanned, times, days everything. I’ve found it faultless and very reliable once you’ve got through the initial setup. Highly recommend it! I’ve got two now …..

Hi, you can choose to record just when motion is detected or you can choose 24 hour recording to the SD card if preferred. As different customers want different features and recording parameters we make both options available. You can also customise when it records via the application. Also you can choose to record to an SD card (sold separately) or you can also purchase a cloud storage plan for one or more cameras. Thank you for choosing TP-Link products.

How to view recordings in TAPO c310 without internet?

My new Tapo C310 smart camera wants to hijack my usual Telstra WiFi network and insists that I use it's own network. This one is very UNSECURE and my Smart Modem rejects it instantly and immediately disconnects from the Internet.

From the Apple Tapo App, I get the message that I have to go into my Modem settings and alter the security level to allow the Tapo Network to gain access - and that I'm not going to do! I have checked all the WiFi and Privacy settings are OK on my iPhone.

I have never seen an external WiFi device that cannot use the default Home Network! Please tell me that this is not as intended?
