Ive been a loyal umart purchaser for 24 years buying from the original milton store when they first started, and I just had my first warranty and as a result, now wont return. I have bought countless pc's, for both my business, personal, family and… Read more

3 kids, replacing them all every few years, so you can imagine how many pc's that is over that time frame. I also send loads of people to them through my work, we deal with electronics and people all the time ask me where to buy PC's from, so I don't know the number of people ive sent there, but its a lot. You'd think that if they want to keep a customer happy, it would be me. My recent warranty is to do with Memory, I purchased 2 x 16GB DDR5 RGB Memory 2 years ago for $139 as part of a full PC build for one of my kids, and one of the 16GB sticks failed mid 2025. The PC wouldn't turn on and google pointed that it should be either the power supply or the motherboard, so I knew I needed to build another PC very soon so I ordered a new motherboard and power supply to figure out what was faulty, but neither fixed it. I then discovered it to be the Ram, so I purchased Black Friday 2025, 2 full PC's and the parts to make a 3rd PC using the motherbaord and power supply I had recently purchased. In the meantime, there has been the RAM shortage and so now the memory is $7-800 for simular stuff. Warranty team assess my memory and say yes, you have faulty memory, the exact same memory isn't available any longer so all we can do is offer a refund. I say sorry, under consumer law, you can't only offer a refund especially when the parts have gone up by a factor of 7 as ther only option. If the parts werew the same $139, I'd happily take a refund and just purchase different ram and all good. I tell them that exchange can be a simular item to the same spec, but they claim that a refund must be the exact same brand and the exact same model number or they aren't allowed to offer it, therefore a refund is the only option. After back and forth they tell me they are no longer talking to me about it, my case is closed, they wont return my faulty and working modules which the working one still works but then the PC only has 16gb of memory instead of the 32gb I paid for, because they have disposed of it already. They tell me that they are in their rights to dispose of my memory before I agree to a refund, and because they are the ones that disposed of my working memory, that's a me issue not a their issue. Case is currently with consumer affairs.

Follow-up  · No alternative offered, they wont even respond to emails, about to take them to court.

Absolutely disgraceful customer service – misleading and dishonest I had one of the worst retail experiences I’ve ever dealt with at Umart. I returned a router due to serious performance and range issues (not as described). In store, I was misled about what I was signing, being told it was simply an inspection form to check for physical damage —… Read more

not a warranty assessment. Later, Umart claimed it was a warranty submission, which I never agreed to.

I was initially told a refund was approved, then they backtracked, changed their story, restricted my communication, and kept both my money and the router while dragging the process out endlessly. I even offered to exchange for a more expensive router and pay the difference — they refused.

I was eventually forced to buy another router elsewhere just to have internet at home, while Umart continued delaying and deflecting responsibility. Their internal case numbers didn’t even exist when checked.

This entire process has been misleading, stressful, and completely avoidable. I’ve now escalated the matter formally because Umart refused to resolve it reasonably.

Avoid Umart if you value honesty, transparency, or consumer rights.

Terrible and Unacceptable Customer service and refusal to honour warranty terms. This story was picked up by Hardware Unboxed on YouTube. (https://youtu.be/x0g_YlG_Ul0?si=ug0d-rUw7w3yMEu4) Umart refuses to replace customers RAM after legitimate fault that was not due to the customer and should have been replaced under warranty. They then double… Read more

down on refusing to replace the RAM and cite some nonsense misinterpretation of ACCC law that they think entitles them to refuse the warranty. They also won't return the RAM to the customer after he refuses their nonsense and requests his RAM returned.

Absolutely disgusting and unacceptable behaviour, UMART should be avoided at all costs unless you want to be screwed over.

Purchased a brand-new PC build from Umart, it arrived with a broken case fan which was non-functional with the wires burnt out and should have been picked up in the quality assurance they do prior to shipment. I contacted Umart via their online support as soon as I became aware of the issue and asked for them to come up with a solution to rectify… Read more

the issue, I contacted them on the 17th of July and received a response on the 20th July stating the issue was being escalated to their technical team. I didn't hear anything further from Umart so on the 25th July I sent a follow up asking for an update, the support team responded on the 31st July and said they were still waiting on a response from the technical team and will follow up in order to expedite things. This was the last contact I've had from Umart.

It's now been 2 months since I first contacted them and there hasn't been a single step taken on their end to resolve the problem. This makes me very concerned for if I have a more serious warranty issue down the track.

Very disappointing, you expect a lot better when spending close to $4,000 on a new PC.

Bought a SSD from them because no store sells them locally. I paid for express post because I was "hoping" it would be better taken care of & it had to travel from QLD to me on the Vic Border. I purchased a graphics card from Umart that turned out to be faulty, and when I attempted to return it they refused to provide a cash refund, even after it had been tested and the fault confirmed by the manufacturer. Umart claimed that a graphics… Read more

card that flickered to black screen intermittently did not constitute a "major fault" and that they therefore did not have to provide a cash refund. This is a clear violation of Australian Consumer Law, which states that consumers are entitled to a refund for faulty items that do not meet acceptable quality standards.

Despite multiple attempts to resolve the issue, Umart failed to honour their legal obligations. I expected better from a major retailer. If you’re looking for a company that respects your rights as a consumer, I recommend shopping elsewhere.

Multiple items, multiple orders.... paid for delivery... never arrived. Placed and order online including delivery.. While order was being processed I attempted contact with Umart to increse size of order... contacting a human is not made easy so i resorted to i the Umart messaging. The message was read but Umart did not respond. After and hour… Read more

or so i attempted contact again via a phone number i managed to source. Staff were dissmissive and said the order was being fulfiled via 'bots' therefor no assistance could be provided. I placed a second order and needed to pay additional delivery costs plus the other charges added in the checkout for 'transaction costs' (cash not allowed every same day payment has a surcharge).

I waited for days for the delivery. Generally within 5m of front door. Nothing arrived. Then recieved a message from Australia Post saying delvery attempt failed (that can happen when they dont try). As other deliveries were expected i continued to wait. Other deliveries arrived.

5 days after the order i drove to the nearest post office to pick up the items i had paid to have delivered. Note the Umart website showed them as having already been delivered...Aust post could only locate 1 box which contained part of one of the two orders. I contacted umart and they wanted me to take the issue up with Aust Post re missing items. I requested they look i to the matter. No action appeared to occur.

I tried ringing the Aust Post Lutwyche branch multiple times with no answer. I tried ringing Aust Post general line and their 'robots' said items await collection in the location i had already been to. I tried again. Eventually at after extended issues i got onto a human at Aust Post. They tried to contact the Lutwyche branch. They also had no one answer. So Aust Post logged an enquiry into the items missing at their non responsive branch.

I requested a refund for the missing items given that both delivery service and items were not provided. While this message was read hours ago, Umart did not provide response or refund.Just ghosted by Umart.

Given Umart Milton is aroud 10-15min drive from my home, how many days and how many hours am I expected to spend chasing products ans services I was charged for.. Its already 5 days. Aldready driven to attempt pickup collection once. I just want my money back. This is an insane lack of service and product delivery.

If Umart wont give me my money back for products and services not provided I feel obligated to go to every review site and forewarn others of potential pending disaster if you attempt to deal with them.

Looking like Credit Card fraud claim is my last option with Umart as i didnt recieve they products or services they charged for and they are unresponsive

They allocated parts from my order to someone else and decided to order extra parts in delaying the pickup was initially waiting for only 1 part. Currently on day 3 of their 1-2 day guarantee. If someone orders something, the system should automatically "allocate" the parts to the first order placed.

I recently purchased a new gaming PC from Umart Online. From day 1 I have had nothing but problems with it. There was no cable management, all the cabling was rolled into a ball and jammed into the hard drive enclosure. I've never seen anything dodgier in nearly 30 years of being involved in the PC industry. I discovered this when I went to… Read more

install a hard drive which became a nightmare.

The RAM was not configured. The DDR4 3200mhz RAM was only running at 2100mhz. They couldn't be bothered to go into the bios to configure the RAM which literally takes 10 seconds.

The PC keeps putting my display into standby that it cannot wake up from. This happens when turning the computer on or restarting it requiring multiple restarts just to get a signal. I have tried 3 different displays including 1 that is brand new. Same thing on them all.

The PC constantly crashes when playing games making it not fit for purpose.

Upon investiging things to try and fix it I discovered that the PC is a year old and used. It has over 1100 unused drivers on it spanning a 12 month period. This is likely what is causing the issues.

Umart knowingly sold me a used PC that they did a Windows reinstall on, I have undeniable proof.

Obviously I am very upset and I have contacted them via a support ticket and Umart can't even be bothered to reply and address the problems.

I have lodged a complaint with both the Office Of Fair Trading and the ACCC along with the supporting evidence.

I am on a disabilitly pension and saved for over a year to buy a new PC. It was a big investment for me and something that I had been looking forward to. Instead it's been a nightmare and Umart couldn't care less.

Umart are an absolute disgrace.

EDIT: After lodging a Paypal dispute I eventually received a full refund confirming that Umart are criminals.

Update: Received a refund promise and is waiting for a refund My experience aligns with the one-star user reviews. If the purchased item has no issues, it’s fine. However, if there’s a problem with the product’s quality, the store fails to provide a refund in accordance with Australian Consumer Law. Instead, the support department handles it, taking weeks to months to decide on a refund, which seriously violates Australian Consumer Law. Show details

well they have lost a customer for life, will never be shopping umart again nor MSY as they own that place as well. failed a warranty/return claim, sent me a DOA hard drive, sent back and they just wont warranty/replace it says it was damaged, yes damaged in the post due to their poor packaging if it was damaged or it was damaged by them so they can avoid a warranty claim. never seen a hard drive so poorly packaged in a box about 6 times the size of the hard drive, 2 layers of thin useless bubble wrap and some loose screwed up paper. that hard drive flew around in that box like a footy in a footy field. looked like it was packed by a baby it was that bad yet they wont take any responsibility for it. took them nearly 2 weeks to reply to my rma request, then another 2 weeks to fail it once sent back. ordered a new hdd from my NEW supplier, it came soo well packed it could have well have been used as a football as it would not have been damaged at all wrapped in many layers of large bubble wrap tightly packed in a box how it should be by a professional who knows how to pack computer components. Never again will i be shopping at msy or umart, they have lost a customer forever. i dont forget being screwed around like this.

Stay away, the business is probably trading while insolvent or hoping you just walk away instead of knowing your rights as an Australian consumer. Purchased a graphics card from Umart. It arrived damaged, the product was packed in a box nearly 2 times its size with just 2 pieces of paper as "packaging material" - so it got a good shake in transit… Read more

before it got to me - the box was torn up and while the card appeared to look fine and work I did not trust the product to still be in proper working order considering the state of the box. Logged a case with Umart to replace the product, after a lot of back and forth (They take over 24 hours to respond if at all) - '[Name Removed]' said they would do a 1 for 1 replacement as soon as they get the old GPU back.

They took 3 days to confirm they received the return after repeated follow-ups with no response unless I followed up constantly. They do not escalate to managers (there appear to be none) and they don't call back or follow up when they say they will. Now I'm writing this 7 days past the date of return and 27 days since the original date of purchase and they do not respond still.

If I had a recommendation with dealing with their support process. Log a ticket with them - then log a case with your state's department of fair trading on the same day - you are not going be treated as a customer.

Sold me a faulty motherboard. I took it back to the local store, they advised it would have to be assessed at another location - timeline to be resolved was a week. Now they've told me it's going to take 4 weeks just to be assessed. No refund, no return, only that they will repair it if there's an issue. I'm now unable to use my primary device, I'm a small business owner without their main device for work for a month. Show details

Customer of Umart for the past 2 PCs I have purchased and always had a great experience - however this has certainly changed as of late. If I could rate less I would. problem with the screen where it was flickering like crazy. We returned the problematic monitor to the business in Milton and were advised that we could get a replacement picked up the next day as they had SOH in the warehouse - this was perfect as she needed both monitors in order to be able to WFH the next week during her apts. We waited for a day, no email comms, Friday and Saturday go past and nothing. My partner then calls on Sunday and gets advised that no replacement order was put through and that they can do that - ridiculous but okay, and advised that due to the timeframes from their miscommunications that we needed it to be sent via express shipping so her work is not impacted. We then received a communication half an hour before they closed that day that the order had been received. No notice on Monday that the the order had been dispatched, so I stepped in on Tuesday (today) to call and find out wth is going on with their comms and service. I wait on hold for 10 minutes, get met with a woman called [Name Removed] who says "hello" and hung up the phone immediately, meaning I then had to go through another 10 minutes to speak to someone. I then got a [Name Removed], who for the record I had no problems with and she understood the underlying issue and assisted me in speaking with someone in management. Then we get to [Name Removed], who listened to the experience we have gone through, and when I asked him to check if it had been sent via express shipping - said he would need to hang up to do that and basically threatened that our options were to sit and wait for it to come whenever it comes by likely end of the week or start of next week (mentioning that they paid for shipping at their expense, though refused to confirm if it was express or not), or he can pull it now and we can pay for the express shipping from what stemmed from their own miscommunications and incompetence. Absolutely disgusting result and can confirm I will be shopping with Computer Alliance due to [Name Removed]'s incompetence, lack of understanding or will to make right what is clearly a them issue. Disgusting management practices and frankly he should be ousted for anyone else who can appreciate that a business is only as good as the service it provides.

standards is user experience when browsing & comparing products on the site. Umart's site is NEARLY perfect. I love not needing to click thanks to the automatic categorical expansions when I hover my mouse over. It helps me get to the specific item page efficiently (e.g. DDR5 RAM took me 4 seconds from home page).

Aspects that I'd appreciate upgrades on: - more convenient categorical narrowing of search parameters (e.g. there's no dropdown box to seek only EXPO RAM) - general component pricing (not always competitive compared to BPC & Scorpec for example)

Cheers for the overall positive experience Umart, keep up the good stuff!

from the packaging. I contacted Umart expecting a simple replacement, but have been given so much run around it is pathetic. For example, when they asked me to send it back they said to use the original packaging. The components were delivered to me in a big box with the cooler, 420mm AIO, mobo, cpu, ram and SSD loose in the box. There was no packing material, just the items loose. Probably ok for an Uber delivery, but I had to send back with Auspost. I am not a business and do not have a substantial amount of packing material available to "make the item secure". So now I am left with a broken motherboard which cost $900. I even offered to send it back via Uber, but was denied. I cannot drive over as I am on medication at the moment that does not allow me to drive or leave the house. Brand new motherboard with an obvious physical fault should have been a very simple, "I am sorry this happened, we will organise a replacement for you immediately and have the delivery driver pick up the broken board for return? Instead I have spent a day and a bit on emails and phone calls trying to get some sort of resolution without any luck at all....

Be aware, Umart and the same day delivery are not worth the risk of having something delivered broken then having to jump through multiple hoops just to get a replacement. There is clearly no after sales support and no customer care.
