Went to the Mansfield store since the Eight Mile Plains store was being renovated. A simple order of 3 items took them almost an hour to bring out. Got home and the 4 tb Western Digital Red Hard Drive that I bought - mostly due to it higher duty cycle and warranty was 'dead on arrival'. I returned it with ir packaging within a week and it was… Read more

confirmed to be dead in the Milton store. They said that it had to go back to the manufacturer for confirmation of the fault and a repair or replace. It is almost 2 months and I have received 2 emails - neither outlining a return date and no replacement or refund in sight! There is no response to any emails. The customer service is appalling. I will never buy from here again and warn anyone else to avoid them.

Do not fall for their 'guaranteed timeframe of half an hour' when you order from their Mansfield 'robot store'. Have literally waited 7 hours during business hours and my order is still not ready. Absolutely false and misleading behaviour by these clowns. Show details

Review for Umart online as whole. Bought 3 toshiba 20TB HDD. Hdd shipping box opened as soon as I got my external HDD exclosure to install the Toshiba HDDs a few days after getting Hdds. On opening box noted all HDD enclosures damaged. 2 of them the metal enclosures had dents, 1 the part for the PCB board was cracked and bent. All 3 returned to… Read more

Umart in store and asked for a refund. Told they had to send it back to manufacturer for assessment and would take up to 3-4 weeks . What assessment exactly I'm not sure? Poor packaging has lead to damage somewhere in transit which is obviously the case seeing how all 3 drives came out of the box damaged. 2-3 weeks after returning I get an email saying it is manufacturer and they are still assessing. What are they assessing exactly? I should not have to accept any sort of damage small or big to a brand new product I paid for. Called Umart after 3 weeks and was told they had no further updates. Requested refund was told we will put it into file...

Called Umart again today. Once again told at manufacturers with no updates. Asked for refund again once again told it would be put into my file. I was willing to wait for a while but now after more than a month since my warranty return I still have no Hdds, no refund, no idea when I might hear back from them. It is not my problem that the Hdds arrived damaged that should be an issue with Umart and delivery company(I'm sure they have insurance) or the manufacturer. I've asked for some sort of response by today which I'm sure won't happen.

Don't buy from this company if you expect any customer service when it comes to warranty related claims. This seems to a constant theme with Umart if you look at the reviews. They even had to put out and official statement on their webpage for clarification of warranty handling because of some bad press.

ACCC complaint to be lodged shortly. Seems like a fairly common thing for Umart just looking through some of the reviews.

My recent warranty experience with Umart was deeply frustrating and highlights significant systemic failures within the company. I purchased a new APC UPS unit that developed a critical fault within 48 hours, complete with alarms and a "Replace Battery" warning icon. I provided undeniable proof: photos of the error on the display, excerpts from… Read more

the manufacturer's manual stating the fault required immediate action to prevent unsafe battery corrosion, and even evidence that the unit's own internal 'EVENT' log had recorded the failure.

Despite this clear evidence, the unit was initially evaluated as having "no issue."

The real failure, however, is Umart's internal communication and support system. Attempting to resolve this was a nightmare. Calling for three consecutive days led to support tickets being created, but they were completely inaccessible in my online account, leaving me in the dark. My detailed email containing all the proof was, for some reason, unable to be forwarded internally to the warranty team. It felt like my evidence and efforts to communicate were disappearing into a black hole.

This isn't an isolated incident; it's part of a frustrating pattern. In the past, I asked them to perform a simple cable swap on a system they had for diagnosis. They proceeded to lose the new cables I provided them, refused to take any responsibility for the error, and left me with no cables for a new system build. Their mistake and lack of accountability forced me to buy an entirely new PSU, as purchasing replacement cables was nearly as expensive. I've also had another expensive system purchased from them fail well before what is considered a reasonable lifespan.

While the warranty staff I eventually spoke to were polite and professional, they are being severely let down by broken processes and a history of unprofessionalism from other staff. The entire experience was so draining that for my latest major system purchase, I deliberately chose a competitor, even though Umart was the cheaper and local option. The potential savings are not worth the guaranteed frustration. I sincerely hope I never have to purchase through them again.

issue and they told me it would take a month. Almost 2 months later I can't get an answer on when it will be fixed. I call Support and they tell me nothing except someone will get to me in a week with more information (have done this multiple times). The update I got this morning (a week after I contacted them) was to tell me they had no further information!! I am a small business and rely on this computer. Just not acceptable! On a side note, when I took it back to the store, the person behind the counter straight away asked me if it was my son's computer?!! I'm a middle aged woman, so obviously it couldn't be mine (it is)?!! Then when I told him I couldn't boot it up and it gave a particular error message, he asked me if this problem had existed since I first got the computer (2 years earlier)?! Yes I have been sitting with a non working computer for 2 years. I mean what incompetence!!

I submitted 5 requests to talk to someone about a computer system they were selling. No one bothered to get back to me after 2 hours. It makes you think , what if I had a problem with a product from them ? no one is available to help. Years ago at Milton you could go in , choose something and pay for it. Now everything is online , and with NO service. I will buy a complete system elsewhere . half a star . Show details

My partner purchased a screen monitor from this store, and when we got it home and unboxed it, there was a large, obvious scratch on the screen. It was clearly a manufacturing fault. Utterly woeful warranty policy if something goes wrong. I am posting this review in the hope I might actually get a meaningful response…. For the poor Umart employees whose job it is to trawl this site hosing down fires my RA number is 273022. Purchased a brand new motherboard, CPU and RAM in July 2024, and within a few months the system started… Read more

becoming unstable before completely refusing to boot up in March 2025. I narrowed the problem down to one of those three items but couldn't troubleshoot further.

29 March - Took it all in for a diagnosis and possible exchange or refund, and was told they would look into it and it might need to be returned to the manufacturer. I asked for an exchange and was told it had to be assessed first.

1 April - Received an email approving the warranty claim and that motherboard was to be sent to the manufacturer for assessment / repair

(3 weeks - No communication)

22 April - I email asking for an update - No response.

24 April - I called them asking for an update - I was told it is with the manufacturer being assessed and they will follow up to get an update from them. I asked about a possible refund or exchange instead of a repair and was told that is not possible. I raised the issue of Australian consumer law, where I believe this would be classed as a major fault and therefore should be entitled to an exchange or refund but was told I was incorrect. I asked to speak to a manager and was told they weren’t available but was promised one would call me within the next hour.

No call.

End of the day I received an email repeating that it is with the manufacturer and that I am not entitled to a refund or exchange.

29 April - I received a system email saying the motherboard has been dispatched to the manufacturer, for assessment and repair, 31 days after it was returned to the store.

3 May - I sent another email asking for clarification on when the motherboard was shipped to the manufacturer and contact details or repair number so I could get an update directly from them.

4 May - I received a response saying someone is looking into it and they will get back to me. No further response.

10 May - as of writing, still no response.

Having read through a number of reviews - there seems to be a striking similarity from anyone who has had the misfortune to return a product under warranty.

I'm no lawyer, but If something entirely stops working within the first year, I'm pretty sure that would be classed as a major fault. That places the responsibility on the retailer - i.e. umart to offer a replacement or a refund. Not to fob us off onto the manufacturer and say it's out of their hands. To anyone who has read this far thank you, I am lodging a complaint with NSW fair trading and would encourage anyone with a similar experience to do the same.

If it requires effort, they wont bother – Refused $8000+ build because it would require some stock coordination. Unlike in the past, as a customer you are now made to feel like a number and an inconvenience. Im sure this attitude would translate to after sales support too. Cheap prices arent worth the risk for when you will eventually face some problem. Used to be the #1 recommend in Brisbane. Now its one to avoid. Show details

Terrible store owner and products sold – A friend bought a motherboard (Gigabyte B550M K) for her son who wants to build his first computer. They purchased various components from different places, some second hand. But the motherboard was purchased to this store, Umart in Croydon. They contacted me because they could not connect to their network. I checked the build. Although… Read more

amateurishly assembled, I repeated all the steps with a professional attention and better cable management for the small case they had. I immediately found that the network port was faulty. My friend went back to the store asking for a replacement. She was told by the shop owner, who was near rudeness and absolutely no inter-personal skills that the motherboard was "scratched" and had to be sent back to the manufacturer for repairs, which might not be under warranty!!! Well, after 40 days waiting, Gigabyte responded to Umart that it is ok to refund as they did not even sent another board! That was a few days ago. My friend purchased another motherboard from the same seller, the MSI B550M-A PRO. Her son rebuilt his new computer hoping that he could finally start gaming on his machine... He could not even start it. They asked me to check it. Today I found out that one memory slot was faulty, sending the 3 beeps when starting the engine! They asked me if I could come with them to the store as maybe I could push things a bit... We arrived at the store. We first asked for a product return, but Thommas, the young staff there said that because the box was opened, he could not proceed to a return. I then asked if he could test it, especially the RAM slots. With friendliness and professionalism, he agreed to proceed and he also discovered that one 1 of the RAM slots was working. The other one is faulty... Thommas went asking for his boss (no clue about the name of this man). The boss came out, not even a look at us, not even a "Hello" or a quick chat. He immediatly tried to find any mistakes we might have made, claiming there was thermal paste on the CPU socket that should not be there. I immediately told him to stop right there because when only 1 memory module is in the working slot, the computer boots just fine on their test bench. So that thermal paste could not be the culprit. Only with the ram module in the faulty slot, we heard the 3 beeps immediatly. He kept saying he was not happy about that thermal paste... But he returned to his back store hide-out and never came back out, leaving Thommas to deal with the customers waiting and with our problem. My friend wanted to have an immediate refund and get out of this shop. Thommas who said that unfortunately, because it is a fault, it has to be processed through the manufacturer MSI warranty and be sent away for assessment. I recommended my friend to purchase a motherboard from Amazon as their return policy is very smooth, which is Amazon strongest service point. My friend's motherboard has 3 options: 1. MSI discards the motherboard and agrees to the refund 2. MSI ships a brand new replacement motherobard and my friend can then immediately claim a return with a box that is not open. 3. MSI fixes the RAM slot issue and send this same motherboard back, in which case, there is no refund possible for my friend. Can you imagine having purchased 2 motherboards from the same seller and both coming with faults out of the box??? We felt totally let down by the owner. We would think keeping customers happy is the main thing for any business. He has definitely lost us. Thank you there was Thommas. Thumbs up for this young man.

Don't waste your time to visit Umart local stores – I went to Umart (a computer store) at Mansfield, Brisbane to purchase something a couple of weeks ago. Terrible Service – My experience with Umart has been an absolute disaster, and their customer service is beyond pathetic. I went to the Chermside branch to buy a gaming monitor for my PS5, and the staff recommended the MSI G321Q as the "best" choice. Trusting their so-called expertise, I bought the monitor, only to find it was a complete joke. It couldn’t handle HDR… Read more

properly, and running it at high settings caused horrific pixelation. This was not just a poor recommendation; it was a fraudulent attempt to sell me a subpar product.

I returned to the Chermside branch for a refund, expecting at least a basic level of customer service. Instead, I was told that they would send the issue to the warranty team and email me. Two weeks later, I received no updates, and when I finally followed up, I was told that they couldn’t do anything. Every day, I called, asking for updates, asking if a temporary monitor could be provided, or if I could simply get a refund. All I got were empty apologies and endless excuses to “keep waiting.” It was clear that they had no intention of solving the problem and simply hoped I’d give up.

According to the ACCC, if a product is unfit for its intended purpose, a refund is legally required. The monitor I bought was completely unsuitable for the PS5, and I had been sold this trash under the false pretense that it was the best option. The staff at Chermside recommended it, and I was going to buy a more expensive model. Instead, I trusted them and bought the MSI G321Q, which turned out to be a total waste of money. It couldn’t even deliver basic HDR performance without distorting the image. So, I looked up Umart's refund policy and saw that if staff recommendations led to the purchase, exceptions could be made. I decided to take my complaint to their Mansfield branch, expecting at least a shred of competence.

The experience at Mansfield was even worse. I asked for a refund, explained that the monitor was clearly unfit for purpose, and requested to speak with someone in charge. I was told there was no manager available, and that everyone was “too busy” to help. This is the same excuse I heard for TWO WEEKS, both on the phone and in person. When I finally pressed the issue, I was told that their technician had “already tested” the monitor and that it was fine—despite the fact that it was clearly malfunctioning. I brought my PS5 to the store to demonstrate the problem myself, and only then did they admit there was an issue. But instead of offering a solution, they blamed my HDMI cable, even though I was using an HDMI 2.1 cable that supports 8K. They swapped out their own cable, and the problem persisted. But they STILL refused to issue a refund.

At this point, they told me I should just take the monitor home and use it at a ridiculously low resolution with HDR and sharpness turned off. They basically told me to accept a broken, substandard product that couldn’t even function properly with the PS5—essentially saying, “It’s not our problem.” No accountability, no solution, just an unwillingness to admit they sold me defective equipment. They claimed it wasn’t their responsibility, and their policy was just “different” from other stores. Well, I guess that's one way to say that Umart doesn’t care about customer satisfaction.

If I had bought a product from ANY other retailer—JB Hi-Fi, Big W, or even Bunnings—I would have received a full refund on the spot, no questions asked. Instead, I was stuck dealing with Umart’s pathetic, arrogant staff and their outrageous refusal to take responsibility for their mistakes. They advertise themselves as Australia’s #1 computer store, but they can’t even process a simple refund for a $370 monitor. It’s all a joke. The entire experience has been a complete waste of time, and I regret ever setting foot in that store.

In conclusion, I wouldn’t recommend Umart to anyone. Their service is a disgrace, their policies are a joke, and their staff are utterly incompetent. I still haven’t received a refund, and I doubt I ever will. Don’t make the same mistake I did—stay as far away from Umart as possible.
