[Name Removed] and [Name Removed], honesty is the best policy!! – Day light robbery!! I have put a 3K deposit as Sales acceptance just few weeks before they go under administration, we wanted to have 1.4m void to have a capsule lift installed after the hand over, So the agreement was to accept the sales acceptance and pay the deposit of $3K this will also lock my price, [Name Removed] will then check with the… Read more
engineering team and if they can't provide the required void, they will return my deposit. It's been over a year now, after the administration drama the Duos doesn't pick up my calls or respond to my messages. I was with wrong people and wrong timing!!
Make a calculated decision when choosing to build with MaherCorp Urban Edge Homes – I can honestly to myself we have been incredibly patient and tolerant of this process but I have simply had enough. I have been bellittled with condescending comments, laughed at on site with our concerns thorough the build process and have had emails and phone calls ignored at times. We have the most poorly constructed and finished off home… Read more
out of any volume builder I have ever seen. It feels useless for me to elaborate the extent of how poor quality the product is. I refuse to let my partner review or broadcast her opinion at this stage for how upset it makes her.
Not only was the contracted build time excessive of 390 days and then handed over to us significantly late after the contract end date. The house that was handed over to us should never have been due to my own naitevity and former trust I had in this company. I cannot believe how long we waited for this only to be left with a half baked house.
The pre-site was clunky but typical I assume and was during Covid so via correspondence mostly. We got the design and layout and modifications we required so good in that way.
The project was managed poorly.
The build carried out poorly.
The workmanship is ugly.
Significant defects have been noted in an extensive private inspector report before and after handover. There is more than 100 items on the post handover report alone and some of those items are summarised so in reality could be more than 200 individual defects if we were being specific.
There is multiple defects on every aspect of the house and in every single part of the house internally and externally. Not limited to; paintwork, arc and skirts, out of plumb windows, damaged window hardware, tiling, out of plumb external Unitex foam and its associated rendering, blowouts in brickwork, creaking subfloors and so on.
Not one room/area is free from a problem.
Approx 5% of those have been acted upon.
Some walls and ceilings have been stripped and straightened. Re-plastered and left for MONTHS with no exact forecast of completion.
These repairs are just the beginning.
We are living in a building site.
The incomplete repairs leave our home without correctly functioning rooms and their curtains, lighting and heating/cooling. These are the rooms we actually live in - the kitchen/lounge and master bedroom. The repairs started and were progressed relatively timely initially... but left incomplete. Starting 6 months ago JUNE 2022. A whole house can be built in 6 months.
This is embarrassing for me. I cannot share my home with anyone at this point. We should have been moved out of the house so these repairs could take place they are honestly that drastic.
MaherCorp have shifted my house around to team member to team member. Virtually going through the same whole process over and over and over. You’ve likely read similar to this in other reviews.
It appears I am the hands of a responsive team now which is a faint glimmer of hope. But responsiveness to emails doesn’t actually get workers to your house to do the actual work.
This house has detrimentally affected the health of my partner.
My partner and I had intended on starting a family. But this is not the environment to do so or in any foreseeable time. I hope they can sort this out and for what will eventually be a great home. Just a haneous never ending struggle that we regrettably signed up for.
Stone bench top handed over with a repaired crack and scuffs – Although I was late in bringing this to Urban Edges attention, they have wiped their hands of the fact they handed over a stone bench top with a repair and 2 scuff marks. I have never had stone bench tops before and didn’t know what I didn’t know! But upon closer inspection and after talking to a cabinet maker I decided to bring this to UE… Read more
attention in the hope they would at the very least have had it professionally attended to to remove the scuff marks. So this is my warning to you, look into everything with a fine tooth comb and if you notice something that you are unsure about don’t delay in following up, as I was a couple of months over the 12 months when I did.

if i could do no stars i would – Built with maher corp some years ago, the management at the time of build was not great multiple sight managers they ended up going over contract date very average carpenter that lead to many issue later. constantly chasing warranty team with emails, the leak got so bad we had mould growing on the back of picture frames in our bedroom it wasnt untill we got medical certificates to say our children have gotten asthma from the mould exposure that we got moved out for week while the removed mould an demolished the bathroom, now we are back in the house an its been 8 weeks since the demo an no progress issue's with the water proofing not being done to code funny how they want to cut corners when this is the issue that caused the leak in the first place , nails were just hanging out of the wall in our bedroom for us to catch on, raw concrete in our master bedroom just left from where they cut away the mould damaged carpet honestly i would avoid this company at all costs they might have flash floor plans an what not but trust me there back end is terrible i dont no how many people have come to inspect the shower or the amount of time i have wasted following them up now we are a family of seven utilizing 1 toilet an shower see some of photos the ones with tap are how it was left for like 8 months are multiple inspections playing the blame game the even tried to blame us for lack of maintenance, then there some photos of how it stands today an has done for the last week not to mention im storing the shower screen an toilet in my garage aswell which has taken away my car space

Uneven slab, moulding timber & half a roof in 9 months! – 9 months of construction with Urbanedge that began in Jan 2022 has left us with is an uneven slab, mouldy timber, damaged trusses & half of an unsecured roof. the quality service stopped. Typical! My Fiancé and I are currently building our dream 55 square family home with Urbanedge, which is essentially consuming our lives due to the lack of progress. Their motto of ‘building better lives’ is absolute rubbish. We have experienced the poorest of service in our contract stage, pre construction and now construction. The high turnover of staff has meant miscommunication, misunderstandings & constant stuff ups. Our build finally began end of Jan 22, 9 months later, all we have is a slab, mouldy timber, water damaged & warped particle boards, broken roof trusses & half a roof. Our timber is still exposed to all the weather elements and will continue to be until they accept costs to provide a mould inspection as a result of their inability to get anything done! I would absolutely not recommend building with UE. I know all builders have their flaws, but our experience has been nothing short of disgraceful. Do better Urbanedge. And please stop advertising on the radio when you cannot even complete the construction works you already have going on.

We got there eventually! – Recently had handover of a beautiful home we can finally call our own. The standard is as you would expect from a volume builder. No more, no less. The process from planning to beginning the build was relatively seamless. As first homebuyers we received a lot of guidance along the way from the people or Urban Edge - all of which were incredibly… Read more
nice and helpful individuals. They were flexible and willing to.meet our needs. All was going too smoothly until the company went into voluntary administration. Our house which had around a week's worth of work left to complete was then left dormant for around 8 weeks. The period of administration was incredibly stressful and created greater costs upfront to us seeking legal advice, as well as increasing the length of time paying rent. We decided to stay with UE and have them finish our home. With an 18k increase in contract price (6.5%) which was non-negotiable, we were disappointed to be paying extra for work that had been long completed. It took time and two new different site supervisors supervisors who were both very understanding of our frustrations and very helpful. Other than the delay in time and increased cost I have no issues with Urban Edge. All of the employees have been so understanding at a time that I'm sure was also very stressful for them. Given the state of the industry I'm not sure I'd feel safe enough to build another home anytime soon. But if I did I would have no issues choosing Urban Edge again.
Would use again – Urbanedge, Eight Homes made the whole process easy. We were probably the annoying sort of client that fired of lots of emails but these were always dealt with promptly and courteously. small things to consider that will make your home a great home. Urbanedge, Eight homes always provided good advice for this when asked. Urbanedge gave plenty of opportunity to make changes up until the final plans signing. The Final plans signing was a long day. We rechecked everything. We found some issues that were different to what we wanted but these were easily sorted. It got tedious but it's important to consider everything. They were incredibly patient and helpful during this process. Any changes were easily made at this point. The build went well. There were some issues we found after we moved in and these were completed upon request.

decisions that will only be beneficial.
Sandy was our first contact and she was great, very understanding of our wants and situation and never pushed us to venture somewhere uncomfortable and was always well spoken and knew her stuff!, our recent colours appointment was guided by Daniella who was also great!, she understood this was our first home and took all our ideas on board, she was always there to give us a little nudge if something might not work out or if there was something she thought would work better and always did so with a polite and understanding energy. Our electrical appointment was straight after with Sam and the same applies here, very understanding, always listening and taking ideas on board and never pushed to make a decision we didnt want to do.
This is only the first step with urban edge and so far we are extremely happy with our decision, We hope the level of service is consistent the whole way through but so far we cannot complain.

Save yourself the heartache – We were promised our home would be completed in October 2022, we didn't receive keys until March 2023. The workmanship was rushed and shoddy, as an example they haven't screwed our drainpipes to our house, many… Read more
power points need replacing as the switches do not turn on or off properly, there are many things missing from our house, we were told back in August 2022 that our solar had been installed, it wasn't until April 2023, we are racking up electricity bills because we still cannot use our solar due to the conduit for the NBN being blocked which we have been advised is the responsibility of the builder. We are still waiting on that. There are many other issues I could list. Honestly they are not worth the time or hassle to build with. If I had my time over I'd go with someone else as it is going to cost me a small fortune to fix all these mistakes as they either will not do it themselves or drag it out hoping you give up.
Balcony leaking and Urban Edge are refusing to fix it - VCAT claim – I bought an off the plan townhouse from this builder. Pre construction – Initially, I had a positive experience with the builder, with smooth communication and helpful staff from the sales representative to the site manager. But not only did they start at end November, the building was completed to "framing" stage before the tradesmen stopped for their Christmas season break. Needless to say we are very pleased with the build progress at this stage and look forward with excitement and confidence to a continued pleasant experience in 2023 as our build continues to completion, of our anticipated beautiful home ! many questions we had. Although this process wasn’t without hippup, as there was a few problems with master drawings / elevations, anything we queried was fixed sufficiently and efficiently.
Our colour consultant, Daniella, was very knowledgeable in her products, making great suggestions and working within our budget. She did not rush us, nor make us feel uncomfortable when not wanting to upgrade certain options. She helped us create a colour scheme we are truely excited about. Further to this, we are quite content with the range of product offered with in the standard ranges, not feeling too limited as to how much we had to choose from - excluding a few catergories, but I feel as this would be on par with the rest of the industry.
Our electrical consultant, Sam, was also very knowledgeable about product. Offering us many things we did not know about, and explaining them to a point where we could make an educated decision as to whether we want / needed it. He offered great suggestions and we were also very comfortable sharing our ideas.
So far we are confident in our choice to build with Urban Edge.

titling time which I was looking forward too.
I was moved very quickly to pre site, I did move through 3 consultants through my journey in presite. At times we had some miscommunication, including between myself the colours studio and my consultant. When I moved to presite Jazmin was my first consultant who was able to book in my colours and electrical appointment in april 2021. I was thankful I was able to go into the studio between Covid lockdowns. When it got closer to my appointment I received a call and email from the colour studio confirming my appointment which was on a different day than I was originally given which caused issues as I had already taken time off of work. They were able to correct the issue and get me in on my allocated day.
The colours appointment ran smoothly, but had a few issues with the colours of flooring and bricks, some options provided in the colours book were no longer available and wasn’t able to find anything of comparable colour. My electrical appointment ran smoothly but due to how quickly my colours went I did have to wait about an hour and half for the electrical person to be available, she was very knowledgeable and provided good suggestions on power points and lights making sure I had everything I needed for my new house.
Shortly after this I was moved to a new pre site consultant with Rachael. I had small issues which Rachael was able to assist in fixing however, it did take a while for some of the issues to be restored. Including problems with drafting, being told benches were laminate instead of stone. It took multiple emails back and forth to get the issues rectified. Before contracts were signed I was able to do a few more upgrades which Rachael sorted out very quickly for me. I did email Rachael in January 2022, asking if I could upgrade my tiles in bathrooms to floor to ceilings but was informed I was not able to as all drawings had been completed, even though I was happy to pay variation fees.
After Rachael I moved to Sarah in pre site. Sarah was able to assist me through to land title. Sarah was quick with all responses to emails and assisted me with gaining building permits, asset protections and any other documents needed to begin the building process. Sarah was very sympathetic when she informed me that I had to shrink a portion of my house by 500mm. I was frustrated as this was an issue which could have been picked up earlier, due to requirements of my lot being classed as SHLC, and my fence causing to much shadow on my back yard. I was informed of this issue approximately a month before land titling. Sarah was also very patient with me trying to deal with my facade and design requirements for the estate, originally starting with the wrong facade being submitted, not being rendered per original plans and then resubmitting the plans and being rejected and Sarah calling me to explain what my options were. Sarah was able to see me through to construction and able to help me through some difficult issues and able to provide solutions where she could, as well as able to keep me informed on issues and delays with the start of my construction, that were no fault of UE, just delays with council or western water.
I have Zaynie for my construction consultant and Glenn for my site supervisor. Zaynie has been amazing and very proactive, quick to respond to emails and any thing that may take a while to get an answer she has been able to respond and let me know she is looking into it. Glenn has been able to get my build moving very quickly and has been able to keep everything moving even with delays within the industry.
My build will hopefully be finished in the next month and be able to move in before Christmas. While I have had some hiccups overall I have had a relatively positive build
