hi, the battery is charged but starting the lawn mower only goes for 1-2 seconds than shuts down, why??

dianne t.
dianne t.

When batteries are below 65% only two green lights out of three show up and it won’t start. Charge batteries to 100% and it works. Is this normal as I was told to let batteries drain. But can’t do that as it won’t restart under 65/70% ???

I've never had this issue. I always charge before using.

So when you finish mowing and your batteries are, say, 70% charged … you still recharge to 100% to start next time ?

I have the Victa 82V 21" mower with a manufacture date of October 2018. It has worked well for years, has been in storage for a few months over winter, and now it does now work. The batteries work fine as my Vista brush cutter and leaf blower function well with the same batteries.

When I try to start the mower, I push the blue button, pull in the starter bar and all I get is a buzzing/clicking sound. It does not engage and start the engine. I took a video of this issue but not sure how to share it. Wonder if anyone has had a similar issue. I have tried removing and replacing the battery multiple times, brushes the connectors for the battery inside the mower. Can't see what else I can do.

Only guessing here but it may be a simple relay problem judging from the sound. If you do not have any electrical experience I would consult your local specialist, other than that I would turn it over and check the blades and shaft are not fouled or tangled. Please remove the battery before.doing this to ensure no accidental activation.

OK thanks for that - I cannot get a warranty service, despite being under warranty, as I have since lost the receipt. Maybe the local mower guy will be able to fix it....

Hi, have had Victa 82v mower for about 3 years, has been great, until today. The mower started as soon as I pushed the battery in, then cut out after about 30 seconds. Pushing the blue start button down, and pulling the lever up, worked intermittently, and releasing the bar did not stop the mower. Had to pull the orange 'key' (next to battery) out to stop it. Any ideas? Felt like the blue button wasn't catching the wire properly. I live about an hour and half from the nearest service centre, so prefer to fix it myself. EDIT 2 April 2022: Any ideas, anyone? Victa service centre?

Just had the same thing happen to me. Quite alarming. No solution yet.

I get the mower going by a combination of ejecting battery, pulling out orange safety key ... pushing battery back in, then push orange safety key back in. It makes a beeping noise, so I repeat same procedure, until it finally operates as normal i.e. push in blue start button and pull bar up ...BUT after releasing the bar, it only stops if I pull the orange safety key out! Just cut lawns this afternoon! Still under warranty (5 years) ... but no response from the Victa service fellas!

I have a large lawn and I want to know what the running time on the mower is is it more than 90 minutes

Wizz
Wizz

I don’t think so mate. I bought the mower and blower so got 2 batteries. In my review I said it’s a great mower absolutely rubbish when it comes to catcher the clippings though so if that matters I’d move on to something else.

Brendan

I managed 30 mins of mowing and used 2 of the 4 bars on the 2ah battery. Mind you, the mower comes with 2 batteries.

Charging is insanely quick. While you drain 1 battery the other will be charged well before you need to use it.

Victa Cordless lawn mower kit 82v li-ion brushless, 2x2.0ah battery 21 inch steel deck. Apparently this mower is discontinued , but my local Bunnings has five in stock, will I be able to get a new battery when I need one

Brendan
Brendan

Not a Victa rep but buying batteries won't be too hard. The 82V battery seems to be shared across 4-5 different brands of mowers and gardening equipment. Inside the unit there are 20x18650 batteries, when mine dies I'll upgrade to some better cells in there (don't recommend DIY unless you know what you're doing)

Press down really hard on the silver spring loaded lever on the top (of the battery fitting assembly) and then you’ll hear a click which will release the battery.

I was hoping to buy a Victa pole pruner as part of my kit but Bunnings doesn't seem to stock them and I read that Victa battery chainsaws (not quite the same thing) had been recalled so my question is...is Victa still making battery pole pruners available to the Australian market?

Why is my Victa battery charger making a horrible noise when either battery is inserted? If I pull it out and insert maybe 4 times it might go back to normal quieter charging. Then I put the charged one in to see what would happen - and there was the horrible noise again. Thanks for any ideas

How do I make the mower stay on the high speed setting, it doesn't pick up the grass on the lower speed

Jeff
Jeff

There's no manual speed control. Speed changes are automatic as you go into thicker grass. I've never tested the catcher as on our lawn I find ours is quite good at mulching so without the catcher it's not leaving visible grass on the surface.

paulneri
paulneri

Agree with Jeff. Not sure why it's not picking up the grass on low speed. I guess the only way you could make the mower stay on high speed is to lower the height setting as the lawn tends to be thicker at the roots and the mower may need to work harder but this wouldn't be ideal for your mower or your lawn.

Not all the lights on the battery are blue when battery is fully charged. The last one isn’t lit at all. Is this normal ? Thanks

paulneri
paulneri

No, I don't think it is but that might not mean the battery isn't fully charged - could be an issue only with the light. FYI when I bought my mower one of the batteries didn't work at all but Bunnings replaced it. With your issue, if the battery seems to have a run-time for as long as expected - small battery 30 mins; large battery 60 mins - no problem!

Signet19

I’m very happy with the mower except it keeps leaving lines of grass clippings when I mow. The catcher is definitely not full. Any ideas?

paulneri
paulneri

mmm. That's odd. Perhaps experiment with putting the mulcher plug in? I've yet to use it but my understanding is it simply sends the grass back on the blades for a second cutting so...be interesting if you still got lines of grass clippings.

Leigh
Leigh

Yes had the same problem. Very poor pick up, doesn’t have enough angle on the blades to creat enough air to throw clipping in the bag. It amaze me victa could market these mower without throughly testing them. Have sold mind and gone to a disc with 4 blades, couldn’t believe the difference in the two

Kevin D
Kevin D

I agree with Leigh I only get 1/8 of a catcher before it leaves a trail of cut grass on the next run. Vista need to put a bigger bend on the blade or a bigger draft plate. Paul Eric if you put the mulched plug in there is nowhere for the grass to enter the catcher.

Stringman

I mow clockwise to pickup the grass trail.

can't get the battery off the charger

paulneri
paulneri

It takes a bit of muscle because when you push the battery onto the charger it click-locks. So there's a locking mechanism to overcome. I find the battery hard to get off too. So press the battery down and toward you using a fair bit of strength and if that fails ask the man next door to help.

The mower keeps cutting out it’s not under load then beeps twice? The swing back blades seem to fold back perhaps this is the problem? Any suggestions?

Can you tell me hou to remove the battery from my mower. Thank you

John

There is a lever at the top of the battery port, you have to push it down firmly until you feel the battery release. It can take quite a firm press to make the battery release.

This is from the Victa website: 'Victa has an assembly line in Kemps Creek, NSW where models are still assembled today. Various models are assembled overseas including USA and China. 4-stroke Briggs & Stratton and Honda engines are manufactured at their various international facilities.'

Can you use an 82v battery in any victa product? I've found a mower that says 40v but can you upgrade to 82v...?

Blueglow
Blueglow

Hi picklej.mh, I do not think you can. My understanding is that the Victa 82v batteries only can be used on the 82V series. Victa do have 82v 2.0 Ah and 4.0Ah batteries.
