Victa 82V Power Cut 883241 Questions & Answers
VerifiedMPN: 883241Used my 82v mower yesterday, all good .. today cutting some grass and it feels like the motor is just spinning. It will not rev up . I have 2 batteries so changed to the other battery which was fully charged and it still just spun slowly. Connections are clean , red fuse is clean ? Any ideas what’s going on?
Hi everyone, my red safety key is stuck in place ... any ideas on how much force can be used before it breaks? If it breaks x an you buy a replacement key?
The red key kept coming partially out as well as totalling out of its plug while mowing-so the mower kept stopping.Any reason this is happening?
Victa 82v, worked fine for 3years, until today, now beeps 3times won’t start. Fully stripped it down & cleaned any dirt etc, was pretty clean, still no ho just 3 beeps. Stripped again down to electrical components only, still just 3 beeps. Any one have any ideas what electrical component could be the cause?
I have the same problem, I would love an answer also,
Victa 82V Power Cut 883241 Battery is fully charged but will not start
Assuming you've clipped the battery in properly and the right way up, make sure the red safety key (next to battery in same flip up compartment) is inserted properly and that you press and hold in the big button on the handle before and as you pull back on the safety lever. If none of this is working, flip the mower on its side and check that the blades are spinning freely. If this still doesn't work, it may be a contact issue with the battery contacts. Take the battery out, clean each of the metal contacts with steel wool and RP7 or WD-40, then spray a bit into the contacts on the mower. You may want to do the same for the red key. All the best!
Does the 21 inch drag like the 18 inch?
Are 82v batteries for warranty in Australia yet?
2 Months later - still no battery
Now 6 months waiting for battery under warranty
Do the blades have a bit of play in them or are they tight. I have read the manual and it gives me 14-19 Nm or 10-14 ft lbs. I don't have a torque wrench so have no idea. thanks for your answer
14-19 NM would suggest a little blade movement. 19Nm is usually hand tight with a small 1/4 inch socket wrench if that helps at all.
victa 82v electric mower hard to push at low cut would better wheels do anything shane
How does the grass go in the catcher .i mow with this mower and it doesn’t catch the grass
please see if you have left the mulching plug in the mower where the catcher fits on , that will not let the grass threw
With the grass catcher attached abd the chite door open the cut grass is simply blown in by the action of the blades as they rotate.
Where is the mulch plug and how do you remove it?
Absolutely love my mower.Where is the mulch plug and how do i remove it?
How do you fold down the handles?
To fold down the handlebars you have to completely loosen the two knobs at the bottom of the handlebars were they attach to the chassis. It's a poor design compared to the older Australian made Victa's. Be careful, these knobs have a tendency to vibrate loose, I have to tighten mine every time I use the mower.
Has anyone investigated the possibility of modifying the speed controller to make it a manual control? Cheers Benno
The automatic power control is terrific, it ensures that the blades are running at the optimal power for the type of grass your cutting. There are no electric mowers that I'm aware of that have a manual power control. The automatic power works really well and helps to extend the battery life. It's a great mower
Thank you for your response. I can't agree. I am capable of making decisions about the performance of power tools. Battery life is not a consideration. I hope that I might still get a response to my question.
I need a lawn mower. My house has sloppy and 600sm lawn. I prefer self-propelling and not heavy. Is there any recommendation to buy? In the case of battery operated mower, I worry about stopping during lawn mowing and not enough power and too hard to push. I saw lots of reviews but I am not confident what model/maker will be suitable. Please advice me. Thanks.
I have lost the knob of the height adjustment on my 82 volt power cut .can someone tell me we’re I might get a replacement please.Andy B
We are moving house and I would like to put the mower back in its box. How do I lower the both sections of the handle to fit it in the box. Thank you
First fold the handles down using the quick release on each side. Loosen the plastic nuts where the handles meet the mower base. You can do this far enough to dislodge the handles from the locating pins in the bracket on the base. Then you can fold the handles forward. That way, the handles will sit fairly compactly without having to remove the controller and cables. Whether it will fit into the carton is subject to trying it!
Many thanks - will give it a go.
Is it possible to lower the blades on a Victa 18 inch, 82V cordless. It cuts too high on the low setting. If so, by how much can the blades be lowered?
Hi, I haven't attempted to do this yet so it is untested. It might be possible to add a few mm by using some washers or better, an additional piece of flat plate under the mounting plate for the blades when you unscrew the central bolt. That is likely to need an impact driver to remove. Another mod I will be doing is to use an angle grinder to slice off some of the skirt ahead of the front wheels to provide some clearance.
These are such obvious design faults...
Did you check your manual or contact the service people for an answer
My problem is the same as some other’s detailed above, doesn’t cut low enough without dragging and pulling up the grass runners. I checked the manual and contacted service who said to contact their dealer. The dealer told me there was nothing they could do about it and that it was a bad design. I’ve considered the problem and believe that by adding a 10mm to 12 mm spacer inside the central tube using a 10mm x 50 mm bolt to lock it up, could solve it. But there is a warranty consideration. What does everyone else think?
Where can i download an instruction manual. Not the parts manual. Model 883241..18v battery
This is how I reduced the skirt from dragging for $3. The aim is to raise the height by 1 notch (7mm) but keep the blades at the same height. First remove the battery. Unscrew the bolt from the motor shaft (very tight). Remove the blade bar. The aim is to pack down the cylinderical tube which slides over the motor shaft by inserting 7mm of washers inside the tube. Slide off the tube and lightly lubricate the shaft and tube. Oil is messy so I use olive oil spray from the kitchen. (also good for lubricating all your garden tools, gate hinges etc). I bought a 6 pack of pinnacle M10 stainless steel washers and found 4 equalled 7mm. Place then in the tube making sure they lay flat then slide the tube back over the motor shaft. While I had the blade plate off I sharpened the blades with an angle grinder using a metal cutting disc. The bevelled cutting edge of the blade isn't that long so I bevelled the entire blade giving it a longer cutting surface. The central bolt still has plenty of thread lenght to compensate for the washers.
Where in Perth can I buy replacement blades? The blades from Bunnings are too short even though they are for 18" mower
external link Those are specifically for the 18V lithium ion mower. They are identical to the original equipment. Are you sure you are not referring to other Victa 18" blades - the sort suitable for petrol driven model??
Thanks Moggy, I think I may have had the wrong specs. This will help, thanks
My victor 82volt mower doesn’t start all the time .it hase a mind of its own. It never starts first try some times takes 5 min.I might trade back to gas.
Hello Andy B, The only way to start the mower is to press the blue button and then pull the lever up whilst pressing the button, I do this and never had a miss, hope this helps.
I assume you resolved this issue by contacting Victa directly.
Having trouble getting the clippings to go in the catcher. Is there a trick? Have tried it with the black thing in and the black thing out. Otherwise happy with the mower although it manages to do about 95% of my large yard on the one battery. lol
Hi. I got rid of the mulcher blades which work for mulching using the plug but are poor for throwing the grass clippings into the catcher...I have the 18 inch cut model and if you have the same you may need to get somebody to replace the blades if you can't do it yourself with large 171 long (140 centre hole to edge) Victa 550 / 560 blades which have a raised fan type blade which acts like a fan and creates a draft which of course will blow the grass clippings into the catcher...It has transformed my cutting of the grass with no problems even with damp grass. I also lowered the deck by about 4 mm by packing washers on the motor shaft...again your friendly mower shop should be capable of doing this...a much better cut without the skirt of the mower scraping along the lawn...should have designed it better in this regard...Cheers and good luck.
I’m having trouble identifying the “button” under the battery to allow it to be removed to charge it. Can some one please guide me to the spot! I have trie with my eyes open but can’t find any lever below the battery and the one above it on the frame seems to do nothing?
The grey button on top is the only lever that you need to press to get the battery out. If it sticks then spray some WD-40 or similar into the battery compartment just under the grey lever.. they tend to stick a bit and it needs a firm push on the lever to work. Try also pressing the battery in as you push the grey lever. It Should release with a bit of healthy effort. Cheers
Thanks Phillip, With your encouragement I pushed harder and released the battery with the grey button on top of the battery, not under it. Nothing broke either! Cheers, David
