I am trying to reconfigure my wattle living sofa, but can't seem to separate the pieces - is there a trick I'm missing, or is just brute force requried? The one video I saw made it look way to easy!

Question for the community: how does this sofa go over time for people with larger frames? I've recently got one, but my partner and I are small (combined weight of 140kg). How does it fair for individuals who are more heavy set? Like, in terms of the backrest stability, cushion compression etc. Thanks for any insights <3

With the Queen and Single bed conversion, how sturdy is the foot of the bed since it is an overhanging back/arm cushion with no support to the ground. Can you sit at the foot of the bed, or should you avoid putting weight in this area? Thanks!

Hi, has anyone used bed linen when converting the sofa into a bed? Would a flat sheet be best to use?

Hi Willie, thanks for reaching out! The sleeping area is a Queen size and a fitted sheet works well :). Thanks Willis and please let us know if you have any other questions, happy to help.

Would anyone be willing to add an update as to how their sofa is faring? Preferably 1-3years after purchase. Keen to know how the internal support, structure, cushioning, frame and fabric is holding up and wearing. I've been disappointed in the past when purchasing an expensive sofa and the seat cushioning and structure is now all slouchy. :( Thanks.

Hi, thanks for your query and great question! Our seats hold their shape very well and have been designed and built to last. Most sofa seats are made from 1-2 blocks of foam (which collapses over time) and often use elastic webbing (which loses its elasticity). Our seats are made from 6 thin layers of high resilience foam, 64 pocket springs surrounded by a perimeter of high density foam, 14 tension springs and an automotive steel mesh suspension system. Our seats require a lot more work and expense but the benefit is the comfort lasts overtime and they hold their shape. Our frames are also steel so they're very strong. Also, all of our covers can be removed for cleaning or replacement so if a seat or arm/back is damaged you can replace the cover for this piece or you can replace all of the covers if you want to renew your sofa down the track. Lastly, please find a review below from Joanna, she waited 12 months to post her review as she wanted to see how the sofa stood up. I hope this helps but please let us know if you have any questions.

JoanneVerified Reviewer 5.0 star rating One year on...We actually bought our Wattle sofa a year ago. We immediately loved its good looks, flexibility and comfort, however wanted to see how it stood up to family and dog life before writing a review. I have to say it looks as good as new, and has not sagged as many sofas can. We have had a very small amount of pilling but a lint remover has fixed that. Overall super happy and would highly recommend. The white glove service was also amazing!

Hi we’re interested in this couch for its configurability, how easy is it to switch from one set-up to another? And do the joiners remain firm after several changes?

Michael H.
Michael H.

Overall, it’s okay, in hindsight, we probably would have chosen something different for our needs. We’ve had our couch for about 2.5years and the L configuration is limited if you want to have back panels along the whole L. This is a limitation of the clip layout under the bases. If they could solve this issue with shorter brackets or something, I’d be more inclined recommend it. The cushioning, support and structure has stayed pretty good with no sagging. If you want high back panels along the whole L layout, I’d look elsewhere. The seats are very deep for my height (I’m 175cm tall) and I prefer a more upright position. When I’m sitting, I’m reclined back a fair way which means I need to tilt my head down which is uncomfortable when watching TV or doomscrolling. Sitting on the gap between cushions isn’t comfortable, so fitting three people across two cushions is technically possible but isn’t great for the person in the middle. It’s appealing to have configurable couch but we’ll probably choose something different next time.

I may be misunderstanding your comment, but we just set ours up and you can definitely have high backs along both sides of a corner piece e.g., seat C in this instruction set: external link

Where are Wattle couches manufactured?

Hello! I'm interested in the wattle sofa but my husband has some concerns about the strength of the metal bars that hold the back rests on. We have young kids that of course love to jump about and generally use the furniture as a jungle gym, so we're wanting to know how well the bars themselves will hold up over repeated use, and whether or not they could bend? Thank you

Wattle Living
Wattle Living   DM

Hi Carmen, thank you for reaching out. The brackets that secure the cushions to the seat are made from solid 304 stainless steel and are very strong. We have not had a single instance of the brackets bending. Thanks Carmen and if you have any other questions at all, please let us know.

Hi Great FAQS and responses. Thank you I'm very interested in purchasing, but concerned as I'm quite short, 157cm with back issues which require good support. I've noticed that there are brackets which create a more upright back position . Can these be included in original delivery as well as the regular bracelets? Has anyone "short" found any problems with the seat depth? Thanks

Hi. Just wanted to ask about the firmness of the lounge. We prefer a lounge with a bit more support comfortable but not soft. Can't find any reviews on this. Thanks

Hi KMM, thanks for your question and thank you Kathy for answering this! I think Kathy's response is spot on. I've taken a look through the reviews and I've found two that mention the comfort in detail, I hope these help. https://www.productreview.com.au/reviews/76dd7370-6f15-493f-8664-37a7aa60ad44 https://www.productreview.com.au/reviews/eb59aa2e-02c7-49e0-88e7-9ebb663ca846

Hi there, just wondering how the surface goes standing up to pets and kids. Also I read that there will be a leather option available sometime soon, just wondering if that is still happening?

For all of those who have purchased this lounge I have a question.

My sister had a similar lounge many many years ago (different company). When you laid down on the lounge you could feel the edges of each seat as they are individual seats. Is it the same with this or is it undetectable? Thanks

Wattle Living
Wattle Living   DM

Hi Bea, thanks for your question. When lying down on the sofa the joins between the seats are hardly noticeable and you can't feel the frame due to the high density foam used around the perimeter of the seat. The seats all lock together securely using our patent pending connection system which prevents the seats sliding forwards, backwards or outwards so you don't fall between seats. The sofa is very comfortable to lie down on. All of our sofas come with a 30 day trial so if you receive your sofa and decide its not quite right for you, there is no problem at all returning it. If you live in Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne we offer free delivery and free returns. Thanks Bea and please let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi, does the protective coating change the texture of the fabric? Is it a trade off for better maintenance but less nice feeling texture?

Wattle Living

Thanks for reaching out Willis. WattleShield is a next generation fabric protection mainly used in the apparel industry which retains the breathability and soft handle of the fabric. Thanks Willis and please let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi-weird question, but the back cushions seem to slant quite a bit back. Most sofas I’ve owned have more upright cushions (which I have liked). I read some reviews where alternative brackets were used to reposition the back cushions. Is this a possibility and how might the angle of tilt change? Thanks so much.

Wattle Living
Wattle Living   DM

Hi Rosie, thanks for reaching out. Yes we can adjust the back angle if you prefer to sit in a more upright position. 99% of our customers are very happy with the comfort and back angle but if you receive the sofa and find during the 30 day trial that you would like to sit in a more upright position, just let us know and we'll swap the brackets for a new set. Thanks Rosie and please let me know if you have any other questions, happy to help.

How is the seat height for tall people? It's quite low compared to other sofas. Also, how comfortable/ supportive is it for people with back problems?

Wattle Living
Wattle Living   DM

Hi Julie, thanks for reaching out, it's Ryan here. The seat height is 40cm from the floor to the front of the seat and 45cm from the floor to the middle of the seat as the seats have a convex shape on top. The seats are soft yet supportive so you don't end up sinking through the cushioning and feel like you're sitting on the floor. The seat height works really well for tall people. The back cushion offers great support due to internal suspension system, foam core and built in lumbar support. Please find three reviews below that mention the back cushion support. Thanks Julie and please let me know if you have any other questions.

Yes we are all over 6ft & its comfortable!

I note that the website says the depth of the seat is 64/68. Can anyone tell me exactly what the measurement refers to.... ie is it full depth of lounge or is it from where the back rest ends to the edge?

2nd Q - is it heavy. ie if people are sitting on the floor leaning against it does it move or stay in place (assuming its not against a wall!).

Thanks

Wattle Living
Wattle Living   DM

Hi Nick, thanks for your question. The seat depth measurement (64/68cm) refers to the distance from the front of the seat to the front of the back cushion. The seat depth can be adjusted and can be either 64cm or 68cm. The overall depth of the 3 seat sofa is 94cm (64 cm seat depth) or 98cm (68cm seat depth). In regards to the weight, each seat weighs 17kg and an arm/back weighs 7.5kg. All of the modules lock securely together using our patent-pending connection system which prevents the modules separating or sliding forwards/backwards. Please click on the link to see a video of the sofa being assembled, you'll see the joining brackets being inserted. external link  The sofa is stable and doesn't slide around. Thanks Nick and please let me know if you have any other questions

Hi, do the pieces lock together with brackets when configured as a lounge? Or do they just sit next to each other without being secured? Thanks.

Wattle Living

Hi Emily, thanks for reaching out. Yes all the modules lock together securely using our patent pending connection system. Each seat is connected to another seat with x2 steel self locking brackets. Please click on the below link to watch an assembly video of the sofa which shows the joining brackets being inserted. Thanks Emily and please let us know if you have any other questions

Yes they lock together with a metal bar. Each piece has holes on all 4 sides that attached either another couch module or the seat back or side. They lock in and I've not experienced any movement.

Looking at the option to turn this into a Sofa Bed...anyone slept on this for a couple of nights? How is it to sleep on?

Marc E.
Marc E.

I've slept on it a few nights. The sleeping surface is obviously not perfectly even, at least not without some sort of topper. In terms of the quality of sleep I had though, it was pretty good and I woke up feeling just about the same as if I'd slept in my actual bed.
