Weber Baby Q Premium (Q1200)

Well-made, solid, with weird little table-things you clip onto the sides.

Did a test cook of a lamb rump, seared it first and then put a baking tray over the grill, then put the meat into a small baking tin. Turned down to the lowest gas, the temp dial on the hood read around 195c. So a tad warm for any kind of slow cooking.

Weber requires their sellers to up-sell like mad, so be ready for that. I got the brush to clean the grill, and the bendy scraper to scrape down the insides, but there's a world of add-ons and doodads (and lots of imitations on ebay and temu!).

After the Ziggy, I see why people are so happy about Weber.

Turn once. Don't open the lid unnecessarily. Know how thick the meat is and work out a timing rhythm. Easy.

For those that say "its not hot enough" then you have chosen the wrong type of BBQ for your cooking style. Buy a Weber Q, change your cooking style, don't use a BBQ plate (grill only) enjoy the best steaks ever.

For cleaning:

1) Run at max heat to turn any food on the grill (on a weber you should have much anyway) to ash. When cool, Use one of the new "safe" stainless steel grill brushes that don't shed steel bristles to clean. Use balled up foil to clean further

2) Use a stiff nylon brush to do the rest of the grill bars. Remove the grill.

3) get a plastic paint scraper from the hardware store to clean the worst from the cook box into the drip tray

4) Toss the alfoil drip tray, get a pack from woolies and change over

5) Use a good quality stainless steel grill brush exclusively to gently brush the gas ring to keep surface rust at bay and the holes clear.

Support from Weber is the stuff of dreams. I recently had mine repaired, at home, at over 18 months old. Ownership is a great experience end to end. Great job Weber!

which has wheels and makes it incredibly easy to move the around, especially on balcony where we use ours. We are slowly collecting the optional equipment available through Weber, eg hot plate, side tables, pizza stone. We have found the bbq great for pizzas, especially when it’s uncomfortably hot inside the house and the last thing you want to do is turn the oven on.

The baby q would be good for a couple, or small family, but not entertaining or larger family. The Baby Q is quite small, and you can only cook one pizza at a time, but is good for a small roast.

Overall we’ve been really pleased with the Baby Q 1200 series. Only downside is the Weber price tag on products and accessories.

I amost didn't buy it – I couldn't believe how expensive this was and almost didn't buy it. I purchased for it's small size and portability and now I use this over my big BBQ whenever possible. AND that means that I unhook it from the RV - change the gas hose bayonet fitting which is awkward carry it down two flights of stairs to the deck and I can't delegate the task… Read more

to a man; but it's still worth it. The attachments are expensive some are worth it others aren't.

BEST features are - the thermostat - very accurate so it's great for cooking anything, really easy to clean if you read the instructions and buy the cleaning brush because the enamel plates are very good quality. (just heat to very hot and brush off the cinders, once a year use the pressure hose to hose down the inside). I love cooking pizza's on mine.

WORST features are - expensive accessories, a bit time consuming changing the hose for a bayonet fitting for the RV, I suspect this would be a problem on all BBQ's for safety reasons. The accessories really do make it a standout piece of equipment so figure out exactly what sort of cooking you need to do.

Will I ever buy a different brand BBQ? NO, but this one looks as if it going to last for a long time so I don't think I'll need to.

Great little BBQ! – This is my first barbeque and I'm glad I invested in a Weber. It has been so easy to use, cooks perfectly and is easy to clean (the grill plates fit in my kitchen sink). It is also the prefect size for my 20sqm walled courtyard. I have grilled veggies, halloumi, chicken skewers, burgers, lamb chops, sausages and steak on it so far and all have been delicious! Show details ·  1

Expensive but great bbq – Great style and quality like our other Weber products that we love. Easy start ignition, very large cooking surface and handy side table fold outs are some of the great features. Bbq is quite heavy. We will be using with our RV. Flame Failure device – Now early 2023 and still no answer!! Come on Weber, please… I’m starting to think I’ll start saving for a Ziggy. I don’t want to be fined for using it attached to my camper and I’m not able to carry a spare bottle. Show details

Misleading - no Flame Failure – We bought a Weber Baby-Q from the Weber website to install in our slide-out drawer in our caravan. Little did we know (& there was nothing on the website) that we cannot connect the bbq to the bayonet on the van. If that had been disclosed then we would have looked around and found the Ziggy, or decided to wait and save our money until the flame… Read more

failure was included. Weber KNEW about the requirement YEARS AGO and have done nothing but make promises. They knew but had no disclosure on the website. NOT HAPPY. We're considering returning it because it is not fit for the purpose it was bought for, and buying an alternative product. And for those who say that we've been using gas appliances in caravans for years without problems, do your research and see how many caravan fires and resultant deaths have been caused by this issue, and why the regulation was brought in.

Any breeze it cant get higher than 130 centigrade – I cannot cook a roast or anything at the required temp you can only get low and slow. I have used wind shields and the best I can get is just under 130 centigrade. Rubbish Show details

One month old Webber baby q 1200 – I had a Webber baby q 1200 as a birthday present just over a month ago 2021 When I first used it no issues Since then it won’t heat up to the required temperature , I have changed the gas bottle no difference I contacted the support centre at Webber after emails back and forwards they have decided there is nothing wrong with the bbq I will never buy another Webber product  Show details

Love my Baby Q – love my Baby Q used it so much I have burnt out the Burner tube. Such a great bbq – We love doing all kinds of food on the baby-q. It would be better if they sold the split plate as standard because you absolutely need it, I guess that’s why they don’t). Use it for every dinner! – This it the best cooker we’ve ever purchased! We use it every evening preparing dinner! The flavours it produces, when cooking meat is absolutely amazing! High Lid model worth it – Great little cooker. Purchased the High Lid model mainly for roasting purpose. It comes with piezo electric starter and a temp gauge incorporated in the hood. Cooking on the Weber is different to your conventional barbq ovens. Always cook with the lid close. You can go crazy buying accessories for your Weber. How did i never get this earlier! – All vegetables and meats taste spectacular on the weber q baby. the Thermometer helps alot so that you dont have to keep checking the temp before its ready. Got converted to the Australian BBQ culture! – Love our Weber Baby Q. Perfect for 2, occasionally for 4 or more when having a little gathering. Warms up to 150 Celsius degrees in just 2 minutes. me is the family bbq where a pile of onion is on one side of the plate which is a bit hard. But realisically the size is perfect. It is small enough to cook and concentrate on the times and how well everything is cooking. I will eventually buy the bigger Weber FamilyQ on the frame.... but until then, this has served me for about 5 years without a drama and I expect it to continue for at least another 5.

the weekend enquiring where to go to replace them, I had a response by Monday morning with replacement pins being sent out under warranty. And i received the new hinge pin set on Tuesday sent via express post, that's great customer service!! I can honestly say get a Weber and you won't be disappointed!

Best BBQ ever – Our weber cooks everything, cakes, roast vegetables, Rib roasts, pizza's, all without much effort at all. When in our RV the Q is all we need. Wind will slow the cooking time down but it's no difference to any other gas flame unit. Can even do scrambled eggs on the Q. Love it. Show details
