Freezer Door Handle Replacement Rip Off

published

The freezer door handle has broken off on our fridge just like so many other customers. Called customer service and was told that I would have to purchase three new handles to replace the faulty one for $200! This is just unacceptable for a crappy plastic insert that will undoubtedly break again.

A great fridge with loads of space

published

A solid large fridge with plenty of space for a whole family. Plenty of ability to adjust the layout. Easy enough for kids to use despite the size. Overall, it's been a great choice.

Purchased in at Harvey Norman for $1,979.

Noisey but they fixed it!

published

Originally bought this brand new and from the moment I turned it on, it made a lot of noise; a low humming noise. In a vacant kitchen at 2am at night, you can clearly hear it operating. Would only turn off when you opened the doors. For a $2000 dollar fridge, you'd expect it to NOT be noisey.

Contacted Westinghouse and they were far too easy to deal with over the Phone. Their Tech came out and fixed it within the week; replaced the Fan and something else and voila, dead silent.

Side note; I had to remove the handles to move the fridge into the new house and didn't have a problem. By the looks of it, Westinghouse are all over it and will replace them FOC.

Highly recommended!

Purchased in for $2,000.

Faulty freezer door handle

published

Like many other owners of this refrigerator, WHE 6060 SA, I have just suffered the same problem of the freezer door breaking off. This is the model with the solid handle and apparently you can't simply buy the plastic pedestal mounts, but you are forced to buy a complete three handle kit for about $250. This is unbelievable! Surely Electrolux should offer a more affordable remedy for what is obviously a design fault.

Handles snap off so easily

published

These little plastic parts snap and are not sold separately you have to buy three new handles for around 300 bucks. Don't buy this product, for this price there are much better quality fridges on the market.

Middle gasket seal sweating 3 years from purchase

published

Do not buy this and probably do not buy any Westinghouse. Bought this Australian / Elctrolux brand thinking I am supporting this partially local company and will have good after sales support. 3 years on, 1 year out from warranty, the door gasket in the middle started sweating. Was told i need to spend $150 callout plus parts.

If I was gonna have a faulty fridge just 1 year out of warranty and have to fork out $300 for repairs, I would have just bought some cheaper foreign brand (not 1750 which what I paid); in fact had my previous Samsung for 7 years no issues.

As a comparison, my Breville multi cooker was not sealing 1 year out of warranty, they sent me a gasket for free.

Purchased 10 months ago. Stopped working while I was away hundreds of dollars of food in bin. Difficult to get rid of smell despite several cleans and everything removed. Foul smelling fluids seeped between floorboards.

Freezer handle

published

Having same problem as so many freezer door handle broken . Can’t understand why you need to buy all 3 handles to replace one, they are over $200, so how many more times is this going to happen. They need to fix this problem and the plastic clip should be available to buy separately. No other problems with fridge love it nice and quiet but due to this problem would not recommend to anyone.
UPDATE issue resolved just wanted to say how impressed I was with the customer service I received from Electrolux they resolved the issue in a couple of days . Best customer service I have ever received. I give them 5 ⭐⭐ ⭐⭐⭐ for service.

Purchased in at Harvey Norman for $1,800.

Freezer Door Handle continually breaks.

published

The plastic clips that retain the freezer door handle keep breaking and are not available as a separate part of the handle, and at $240 is a rip off. The plastic fittings should be available as a separate item and the design should be fixed so that they don't keep breaking.

Westinghouse WHE6060SAD_T2B

published

We have just installed our Westinghouse WHE6060SAD and to say we dissatisfied is an understatement. The freezer door handle snapped on off when moving it in but was told I’d have to fork for three handles rather than the plastic piece that snapped off. After 3 days of running, we have cool water but no ice. Will be spending a few hours service centre trying to resolve as the manual doesn’t go into faults for the ice maker. Not happy Jan

Terrible handle design, terrible customer service

published

The fridge performs well as a fridge, but the freezer handle has snapped off. It doesn't appear to be possible to buy a replacement part for just the broken piece of the freezer handle, only a pack of fridge and frezzer handles for over $200. Customer service is non existent with no reply to my query.

WHE6060SA / 925060255 - more handle issues!!

Freezer door handle broke off. Pedestals that screw into handle and then attach to clips on freezer are broken on each side. Need a replacement urgently but can't find the part on westinghouse website.

There are some sellers offering full handle replacements, but they are 3 handles that I don't need at $350 and I'm not sure they even include the broken clips...
