westinghouse wtm5200wb-r getting really hot on the outside – Our fridge- freezer is getting really hot on the outside-on both sideas and the back. It is 8 year-old fridge.
Average – Seals aren't great and you can hear it drips water. Freezer gets full of ice and needs pulling out frequently. Still working 8 years on though. Quite energy efficient as well.
Third fridge replaced under warranty survived for 8 years. Don't buy, terrible quality – Bought this fridge in November 2011, first delivered had a dent and was replaced. Around 18 months later lining of the freezer showed cracks, replaced under warranty. A year later cracks appeared again, this time on the fridge lining of the new fridge. Replaced under warranty again in Nov 2013. Was constantly freezing vegetables and anything at… Read more
the back of the fridge despite the technitian trying to sort this out. Sides of the fridge were getting very hot, also water dripps from the top. Now the fridge door came off, plastic and metal components of the bottom hinge disintegrated. Extremely disappointing quality. Service from Electrolux was great, can't fault them, unfortunately the technicians have to deal with bad quality of the product.

Excellent and reliable 520l fridge - will buy again – I bought this 520l fridge 4 years ago and have been happy with it. It's reliable and has great shelf space and overall design. It's tripped a couple of times. I changed the surge protector and it seems to be ok now.
HAppy so far - no problems whatsoever – I've had mine for 2.5 yrs now, really no problems, it works like a dream. One thing I haven't figured out is the thermostat! It works perfectly (freezer and fridge) with the temperatures dials at minimum no 1. I have tried resetting and turning it up, the fridge/freezer did go awfully cold, and then I wound it back to no1 and the freezer still… Read more
operates so well , everything freezes quickly, the fridge is cold enough. There is plenty of room and shelving, we removed a few shelves, during winter when we tend to need less ice, we remove the ice shelf to make room for meat. Must say I like the twist ice compartment. The fridge works at night mostly and in the daytime it is silent. TBH, there was a time I thought it was not functioning! The motor seemed not to come on, and when I heard it roaring away it was like music to my ears. Now I realise it works harder at night and throughout the day, it is silent and comes on intermittently. I get this feeling this fridge is saving me electricity. Very easy to wipe clean with sponge, and the external coating makes stains easily sponged over. It is low maintenance, and the frost free feature is a dream. The vegetable crisper moisture dial is handy though I don't mess around with it, it has kept my fruits and veges dry and they last forever. I say this is a great fridge for a large family, provided yours works well.
Works for me – I've been very happy with our fridge. I like the drink chill timer feature and use it reasonably regularly to remind myself about the wine I've put in the freezer when I forget to chill it before dinner. I do wish the freezer was a little bigger, but we have a storage freezer in the garage so it's not that annoying. Show details

What a flop – The fridge has ceased to work. I truly don’t consider 7 years to be a decent fridge life. For a few years it froze veges and fruit . Now I’ve had to throw out the contents of a full freezer because the whole unit stopped working . Very disappointed Show details
Very disappointing for an Australian made product – Bought Westinghouse as Aust.made. Freezer compartment does not freeze items- bread products and vegetables are soft and frosty, unreliable for meats. Not self-closing,weak seal on both doors, Ok interior shelf design, one compartment removed, too big and bulky. Show details
Unreliable product – It stops cooling after 3.5 years. Freezer working but refrigerator even on coolest mode cool everything around 10c. After 6 months of purchase it freezed food at the back of shelves, but it wasn’t big deal until now in the middle of summer it broke. I bought it around 1000$, could buy Korean brands cheaper and more reliable. Show details

An Australian Lemon – I bought my WTM4200WB in August 2013, but, due to my being between permanent houses at the time, the fridge was immediately stored until November 2016. When I finally unwrapped it an set it up, it worked really well for about 6 months. Then the vegetables in the food crisper starting freezing solid. I tried moving my vegetables up on to the… Read more
shelves to stop them freezing (keeping them to the front of the fridge), but that didn't help - they continued to freeze, along with other items on the shelves (soft drink cans, Cheese, etc). I have tried adjusting the fridge temperature to the warmest setting - That didn't help either. I have given up on this fridge. Effectively I've only had 6 months of perfect fridge use since the fridge was new. Due to the fridge being in storage for 3 years after it was bought - any kind of warranty that it might have had, would have lapsed, so even though the fridge started playing up after 6 months (which ordinarily would have come under warranty), I could not get it fixed .Very disappointed. Would like to get it fixed or replace it, but without a job, it's impossible. This is the 3rd Australian branded fridge I seem to have had nothing but trouble with. One day hopefully if my finances improve, I will do some research on non-Australian built fridges, and try my luck with an overseas brand. It just doesn't pay to be patriotic anymore. At least after reading the reviews on this page, I get some comfort in knowing that I've not been the only one with the problems that my fridge has.
Very Poor Quality Fridge Freezer. Family Very disappointed – From 2 day of operation we realised it was a lemon. Crisper section Ceiling Constantly "Drips" water onto the Vegetables &/or Fruit and sends it all mouldy in a few days. Its a Big & very expensive problem. The Crisper Draws, have another area that is "supposed to be" for storage of veggies etc, but literally turns into a "Swimming Pool" of… Read more
water! We've never seen anything like it...
Underside of Shelves also "Drip Water Condensation" onto everything.
Lastly 2 Bottom Shelves - even more so the Bottom, freezes the Celery and Other Vegetables Constantly... We have wasted - most likely now, $1500 in vegetables or possibly more, combined from the Crisper section & Bottom 2 Shelves alone.
Fridge was inspected by Electrolux Agent. He said its a Manufacturing fault, and can not be fixed.
Sent Electrolux Agents report, and still awaiting their response from 19th April.
Fridge was purchased April 2014. Harvey Norman Coffs Harbour did not want to assist us in any way.
We are the 5th Generation of Electrolux Customers in Our Family, and sincerely hope Electrolux will assist us. We however do have a Tuckerbox Freezer from Electrolux which is from our Great grandparents, which is still working perfectly as our second, larger Freezer.
We will post our results of correspondence.

Quality control takes a back seat to pervious model – My previous review of the Westinghouse 420l was akin to a knight in shining armour. Alas, this upgraded model falls short, much shorter in fact, than it's predecessor. The fridge, bought approx. 3 years ago now, has been great for its size for a family of 4, chill stream is a good feature (as per the previous model), and easy to keep clean with… Read more
its removable glass shelving and crisper drawers.
The problems started with some whirring noises being heard from the rear of the unit. This did not happen all too often, and, at first, put it down to normal operations. Now I believe it was a sign of things to come. Just after product warranty expiration, the crispers started freezing our fruit and veg. We tried regulating the freezer temperature but this did not resolve the issue, Again, tried regulation with the fridge temp. control as well, but we've had no luck. It is not a consistent issue, but when it occurs, it means we are throwing out spoiled food. We also have issue with food and drink towards the rear of the fridge freezing, this with freezer temp on low, fridge temp on low/medium. Our fridge is generally full, so a lower temp should mean better efficiency, however no matter what controls we set, the issue is still apparent.
The next issue (also beginning after warranty expiration) was the freezer started frosting up. Checking the obvious, i.e. seals, these seemed to be fine, no gaps seen etc. However, it gets to the point we now have icicles forming from the freezer ceiling. Removing food and cleaning/defrosting seems to fix the issue for a while, however it does return.
These issues above seem commonplace with this model, as per other user reviews found online. Unfortunately, because out of warranty, I don't believe we would have any recourse for repair from Westinghouse. The kicker...we had a 2 year extended warranty, however because we purchased from Masters, well let's just say that died in the rear along with the dissolution of the company.
I understand you cannot base a company's reputation based on one model of a product, however I believe service is paramount, especially how a company treats it's consumers in respect to after sales service. It seems to me all the issues above, when brought to Westinghouse's attention, go by the wayside. Just another unfortunate experience in a long list of faulty consumer goods where said product fails outside of the standard warranty period.

Could be better – We can tick all the boxes on functionality, all good. But would try to purchase a better quality product next time. The Best Fridge I have ever had – This fridge is the best fridge I have ever owned It is very quiet very easy to clean clean with warm soapy water and maintain a good temperature in all compartments. Have been using about 5 years without any little issue. I love it and I suggest everone to buy this fr Overall, we are very happy with this fridge. Show details
No confidence in all westinghouse fridges – Have a similar fridge in Kelinvator now 12 years old and still going but wanted a fridge that had defrost in new area we moved too and so with confidence purchased in 2010. 14 months later cracks appear in bottom of interior casing with no questions asked it was replaced. 2nd fridge lasted 2 years this time cracks appear in casing on side.… Read more
Replaced. (But left with the distinct impression that the company believed I was creating the cracks) now have 3rd fridge and it is 3 years later and of course out of manufacturers warranty but again with cracks in casing on side, bottom and this time a huge one in freezer. This product is is discontinued however I have no confidence in this company and its fridges (interior casing is very thin). Yes they have replaced the fridge each time but after the 2nd fridge needed to be replaced I asked for a refund and was told no. I have been pursuing the issue since August 2016 and completely drained from trying to get the original place I brought it from to assist and extended warranty I purchased to cover the issue but have been told no its a manufacturers problem. I totally believed in this company due to being Australian jobs etc but now have no confidence and I tell as many people as I can to stay clear of their fridges.

Terrible fridge and you have to pay for broken parts caused by manufacturing – This is a terrible fridge. Agreeing with everyone's reviews: It's like a support group I never had. I just sold mine to buy a smaller fridge and I will not go near Westinghouse again. This may be one factor as to why these fridges can be on sale for very cheap prices. I paid $630. I bought this large one because it was cheaper than the smaller 5… Read more
star choice rated fisher and paykal . Be aware of that next time. It pays to do your research. My problems :
Can't get controls accurate: freezers food at the back of shelves - have to turn down freezer setting to stop this ( but silly Westinghouse)
The crisper had a crack in it so I had to pay $80 to get a new one.
The seal on the freezer is not sitting flat, so I get a build up of ice.
The vege crisper retains moisture. The design is poor. There is a sliding vent to control air into the crisper but there is a gap between the shelf and the crisper so air gets in anyway.
I didn't pay extended warranty and it wouldn't have helped if I did luckily. Be careful about purchasing it.
Worst Fridge I have ever purchased – Within the first 6 months of purchase we noticed the plastic frame in the freezer had developed cracks. My husband would not contact Westinghouse and consequently cracks have now appeared along the entire freezer bottom frame as well as the bottom frame of the fridge itself. I have never seen this happen in any refridgerator! Even more frustrating… Read more
is that food freezes at the back of the lower shelves and that is with both freezer and fridge temperature controls lower than mild. The two crispers have both cracked and the slide in edges have broken on both the fruit and vegetable lower crisper as well as the top one. We have owned the fridge now for more than 3 years and I am now looking to replace it. I have little confidence in buying another Westinghouse after this experience.
Very poor temperature regulation – We bought our fridge 3 years ago, and were constantly having problems with temperature control. Food was either freezing or spoiling. Changing the settings on the controls didn't make much difference. We finally got around to having a Westinghouse mechanic come and replace the thermostat (why did we wait till the warrantee was up?), but it is… Read more
still no good - the fridge varies from 0 to 10 degrees. The mechanic said this is all it could be because the seals and other possible causes are fine.

Cracks in the internal skin – We bought this fridge about 6 years ago and we noticed cracks in the freezer internal floor. I rang the Westinghouse service department they said it is not fixable . We were wondering what could be done to rectify the problem .Previously to this fridge we had another Westinghouse and that lasted 9 years because the gas leaked out and it was to expensive to repair.

Another issue – Where do I start . To say I am angry is an understatement. This is the second Westinghouse fridge that has been faulty. So I call to get a service person to come and look at it and I have to wait a WEEK for them to come .. It's the middle of Summer .... I will never purchase a Westinghouse appliance again . Buyers beware. Where I purchased the appliance have been very understanding but I should not have to deal with trying to get an appliance that is 22 months old fixed.

broke down after 2 years 3 month and 18 days – First time buying a Westinghouse brand fridge. Thought the premium I paid was for quality. Instead fridge stopped working just after warranty expired. Light was on but the fridge is silent. Called customer service, had to wait in line because too many people also calling to complain about product quality

I love this fridge – With all glass shelving it is really easy to keep clean, It is always cold and the freezer is really good as well. I never hear it. It is a good product.when my last fridge died I had to get something quick and that fitted into the space in the kitchen so I wasn't overly fussy with what I bought as long as it was a good size and works but I can't complain about this fridge/freeze. It is more then big enough for 4 adults.

So annoyed at this fridge.. feeling cheated – I purchased this fridge Aug, 2012. Just recently there's been a high frequency knocking occurring from the freezer that I thought was because of ice build up. I defrosted (despite the fridge being frost free) and found this only resolves the issue for a day or so then it returns. All the while there's next to no cooling coming down into the… Read more

Reading a few other sites and reviews it seems like the fan has gone in the freezer (can't then explain the knocking) and not circulating the cold air throughout the appliance. This must be a common problem.
I've tried raising a support case with Electrolux and get nothing but the generic response. I'm hoping for a replacement fan or something sent out.
Very disappointed with this fridge. It was the biggest I could get in the size I had available and had always a high opinion of Westinghouse. Things seem to have changed.

Local Electrition fixed problem – when I couldn't get help from Westinghouse I approached an local electrician to purchase a new stove and he knew how to repair the original so he did now working fine. He replaced all the switches on the console with new ones. Problem solved, and was only $150.00
Only had it a few days and very happy with it – Bought it at Harvey Norman and paid for 4 year ext warranty so 6 year replacement warranty. $90 for delivery and they took the old Westinghouse fridge which we had for 30 odd years. Read reviews in here but still decided I would get it. Choice gave it a good thumbs up too. At night it does make a bit of a noise for 30 mins or so. Its the freezer… Read more · 5
fans cooling the fridge. Maybe a better design at the rear to muffle the noise would be a good idea. That or use more silent fans. Overall the fridge is well designed. Strong door handles which will never break off.
Cleaning of crispers – It is extremely difficult to clean the front edge of the bottom of the crispers when material gets caught underneath. Front can't be removed to get at it. Very frustrating. We have had quite a few refrigerators over the years, but this one is the most disappointing one we have ever owned. Won't be buying Westinghouse products in the future.
Very unhappy with Electrolux & my Westinghouse fridge, Mdl WTM4200 – I bought my Westinghouse fridge in 2012. The first new fridge I've ever possessed, my last fridge was over 10yrs old when I got it and it lasted almost 15 years and was still going when I gave it away to finally get my own new fridge. Now, I find that it's out of the 2 yr warranty since I didn't get an extension - thinking this fridge should last… Read more
me out - and the fridge section wasn't cooling (all my food went off and that was an extra cost I didn't need). Electrolux advised me to get a technician out to check it. Turns out it was the fan that had stopped working and the none-frost freezer had frost build up as well! I'm very disappointed that all my hard savings for an appliance supposedly made in Australia (but no longer I've since found out) is not going to last the distance. The new fan is likely to need replacing in another 2 yrs or so. All I'm told is that you can't tell when an appliance is going to break down! What kind of service is that when you buy it in good faith, supporting what you thought was Australian made? Don't buy one!
I would advise anyone thinking of purchasing any Westinghouse to just NOT! I am told I have to foot the bill for the service and the new fan too since in Electrolux's mind, it is not a major part that needed replacing. However, that fan is what caused the whole fridge to stop working and it could happen again!

Electrolux they offered a new fridge if I pay $790. this is not good enough.I don't need a new fridge I would expect it to be repaired under warranty being so close to cut off date. had a fisher paykel fridge before this one purchased in 1995 it is still going! when I rang Electrolux customer care was only told about the 2 year warranty.
very good internally – our WTM5200W has been exemplary in its freezing and cooling duties for about 8 years. The problem I have is a fridge section door which has gradually sunk to the point where the top seal can no longer catch on the metal inner. I suppose to save extortion I'll have to work out my own fix. This is disappointing in an otherwise good product

wrote to Westinghouse and they never responded. The entire situation was very disappointing to say the least. Fortunately, we have decided to give our rubbish fridge away to a good home in a few months time and purchase something at least half decent considering that my husband is a doctor and had advised me not to go the cheaper westinghouse fridge. Oh well, I guess you have to swallow your pride sometimes.

have wasted so much money on wasted fruit and vegies. I was told by the service man that they had never had any complaints about this fridge and I was the only one.
I don't like the glass shelves they seem to cloud up as if air isn't circulating, I never had this problem with the wire shelves and I have always had Westinghouse fridges. I wouldn't be bothered complaining again because I know the outcome. Appliances are not cheap and you don't go out every few months buying new ones so at least you want something that will last with no problems for at least a few years.
Cannot wait to get rid of this heap of rubbish.

Great until now but only 5 months since purchase – I boughtnthe fridge in Dec 2014 as a Christmas present for myself and I was very happy with the fridge until now. Lots of great features and space. Very Noisy! – Westinghouse Model WTM5200WBR, I purchased this fridge two weeks ago and the sales guy failed to mention how noisy the fridge was.
