If you are doing this and its not grilling there might be a fault with the microwave.

Hi I have done everything according to your manual , and did not grill , so I have returned it to Harvey Norman , they gave me a new one , this one is better grilling but does not seem to brown very well , and also keeps stopping during the grilling and then starting intermittently ????

Hi Wien, Thats great to hear, I have checked with our technical team and this is normal for the microwave to go on, off, on, off, etc as the appliance is attempting to keep heat at a certain level – its referred to as “cycling”.

Usually there’s no visual sign, just a clicking of a relay as it turns on and off. A heating element glows red though so its visual.

In terms of the food not browning enough I guess the best option would be to keep the food in the microwave for longer, every appliance has different characteristics so it can take time to see how to get different outcomes - especially with cooking.
