We purchased the Panasonic NN-ST641W Microwave from The Good Guys on 13/04/2016 and the paint on the inside corner is flaking off (approx size 5 x 2cm) exposing the metal underneath. Can you please advise if there is any warranty replacement that covers this issue?
Hi Dani I am not a representative of Panasonic. Just a very disappointed - and previously loyal customer - whose last 2 Panasonic microwaves were well below the standard one would expect of a well known brand. I can only assume that like many companies Panasonic have started to use cheaper materials in the construction but the retail price remains the same so would never purchase another one. One may as well buy a cheaper unit at a chain store for $80.00. At least if it lasts for 3 years you have not wasted a lot of money. Searcher
Ok I understand. I saw Panasonic answer some of these questions and thought I'd give it a bash. Thanks for your response.
Hi Dani, Give our customer service team a call on 132600 and they can perhaps look further into this for you and see if we can help.
Thanks
I seem to be unable to over ride the cooling function on my microwave, I have to wait until it has completed its time. Is that correct or should I be able to over ride the cool function and enter another instruction ?
HI Shelley, please give our customer service team a call and they will be able to explain how the cooling function works. There number is 132600.
Thanks
Thank You for that
Does the NN-ST651W have a charcoal filter?
Hi John, Please call our customer service team on 132600 and they will be able to assist you with your inquiry.
Thanks
Hi John I am not a Panasonic representative - only a disappointed customer so cannot answer your question. Sorry.
Hi, I purchased a Panasonic NN-ST641W 3 years 9 months ago so it is well out of warranty. It’s only used for heating & light defrosting & is cleaned regularly. The power goes on OK but it trips the breaker when turned on. We purchased it for the Panasonic brand perceived reliability. Should it last longer than this? I was told this model had a few problems. I was told by Panasonic to take it to a repairman at a cost of $45 plus a repair cost of $100 - $150 dollars for magnetron or circuit board. The $45 would be deducted if we went ahead with the repair. Obviously the part would be under warranty but not the entire machine. It appears to me I should buy a new one. If I do is there another brand that might last longer? Cheers Jennie
Hi Jennie I am not a representative of Panasonic - just a very disappointed consumer. Like you, I trusted the Panasonic brand and I had been a loyal Panasonic buyer since 1986. However, my last 2 Panasonic microwaves developed rust in the cavity within a few years. My cleaning procedures had not changed in that time. I can only guess Panasonic may be using cheaper materials in their products. I now have another branded microwave to see how that performs. If branded products deteriorate to the point they only last a few years then the consumer may as well buy cheaper products from chain stores. Cheers and have a lovely Christmas Searcher
Thank you Searcher. I have done quite a bit of ‘googling’ & come up with great reviews for Ariston MWA23B (Italian brand) Unfortunately it won’t fit into our cavity...older house & assume smaller microwaves then. Maybe I’ll ditch the cavity & put it on the bench! I didn’t have any issues with rust with the Panasonic but cleaned it regularly with my little plastic contraption which sprays a steam mix of vinegar & water out the holes on the top when heated. Anything wipes off really easily after. As I recall the name is Angry Mama. Think our son in law gave it to me...hmmm! As only use our microwave for minor functions you might be right in your sentiments about a cheaper one. As most manufacturing went off to China it will be interesting to see who will make them now. Thank you very much for your Christmas Greetings. As we have some of our family here for Christmas ( apart from the HK one unfortunately) we will have excited grandchildren at Christmas. Enjoy your Christmas too Searcher & thank you for responding. Jennie
Searcher, just another ‘heads up’. Hope you receive this. We ended up buying a $199 Sharp. Cheapest we could find of a ‘good’ brand. Thought we could buy another if this didn’t last long & be as cheap as one dearer microwave. ***It was recommended we buy a surge protector for it as might solve a few problems. Recommended for fridge also. Can get one put in fuse box apparently. A lot dearer but would cover everything*** Hope this is helpful. Jennie
Hi there,
We have been using this Microwave since 2014 and it was working fine but recently the door is not opening, what could be the reason?
Thanks
I am not a representative of Panasonic so cannot help here. Just an unhappy consumer regarding my experience with my last 2 microwaves developing problems after only a few years. A friend has a Panasonic 15 years old and still going strong but the later models seem not to have a very long life span. Is it something to do with cheaper materials in the manufacturing process I wonder?
HI PKS, there are many reasons why the door may no longer open, it would need to be assessed, please contact our customer service team on 132600 for further details of who is in your local area.
Can I reheat pastry and retain a crispy crust . My name is helen
Hi Helen I am not a representative of Panasonic but a very dissatisfied customer re their current products. From experience it does depend on the type of pastry used and the length of time to reheat the dish but pastry will never be as crisp as freshly made. Regards Searcher
Thank you that was my gut feeling but not sure with the inverter
Microwave stops after 30 seconds then next time after 2 seconds saying 'cool' on the display...cycles this over and over

Can I turn off my Panasonic microwave cooling function? Thanks
Hi Rez, please contact our customer service team on 132600 who will assist you further.
My oven stopped with code H98 and will not start, all lights are on, clock will set - have unplugged and plugged back it, it won't clear, what does this code mean?
I am sorry, I have only used mine for simple heating. A handbook should have come with your microwave. I think the handbook for the model is also on the Net. And possibly, just Googling the model number and the error code, might come up with an answer.
The microwave has begun intermittently not heating, you set the time required press start then it either doesn't start the turntable rotating or it steps to cooling mode and if it does work sometimes the food is not hot. Return to store and was told if nothing found faulty there is a charge involved. So much for warranty and service, item bought in December. What can be done?
Contact Panasonic but as the shop says they may charge you ......tell all your friends ,,,dont buy Panasonic products
I took mine back to the store with the original receipt and they gave me a new one on the spot..........both times. I would tell them that you WILL be contacting consumer affairs if it is not replaced.
From ACCC:
Consumers’ right to a remedy for goods that
fail a statutory condition or warranty has no set
time limit but instead depends on what would
be reasonable, given the cost and quality of
the item. This means that consumers’ statutory
rights may entitle them to have defective
goods replaced or repaired after any voluntary
or extended warranty has expired.
Thank you all for the suggestions would you believe its working ok now. But because companies like Panasonic are outsourcing their product, they have lost control of the quality control or their attitude has changed which suggests you can buy anything for a price if it fails buy another hence our throwaway society. Very disappointing
Simple, have the store staff test it and confirm the fault. Its a microwave oven, not a NASA control system.
I purchased my Panasonic microwave nn-st641w 3 years ago. Recently it has started cutting out during cooking and reverting to the display you get when there's been a powercut. The casing feels quite hot to the touch. I'm concerned that it might be unsafe. Do I need to chuck out my microwave or is it a repairable fault? 3 years doesn't seem like a great lifespan for a microwave.
Hi there, theese models of Panasonic Microwave have been well known for their unreliability _ with many reported faults . Panasonic has really dropped the ball in terms of quality! Unfortunately these models are not repairable and from your description it sounds like outright fire danger. I would advice you to widen your choice of brands and don't just bind yourself to this brand.
Thanks, I purchased a sharp this time. Will see how that goes :)
My last panasonic lasted 13 years so when it stopped working I replaced it with the NN-ST641S.
My query is the annoying cool down... why is it's purpose? Can I turn it off? Is it a problem if I take my food out after 10 seconds like i want then close the door and the cool down continues... does it harm the microwave?
The cool down function is in built for the microwave's inverter technology that assists in even heating of the food (so you don't have to keep stiring the food every now and then as microwaves without inverter tends to heats unevenly and food in the ceter of the bowl or dish tends to be cooler than the outer side).
You can take out your food from the microwave anytime even after a few seconds and it automatically goes to cooling mode for some time e.g. 10 seconds. This is normal and all invrter micrwave should work like this. Only thing to remember - do not power off the microwave at the power switch.
The after cooking cooling function is a 'feature' of the inverter system. Early Panasonic inverter m/w had problems with the inverter high power transistors 'cooking' as they suffered from 'heat soak' after the oven cooling fan stopped at the end of cooking, and then the transistors failed from overheating. Panasonic programmed in a 'cooling cycle' in all newer units to prevent premature inverter switching transister failure. In older systems, there was a repair kit from Panasonic with better transistors and a larger heatsink. I had this kit fitted to the 'dead' m/w I got for free, and it's been working for 12 years now, with just a replacement globe needed.
Each time we turn our microwave on the whole power of the house will go off from main switch board . Why this happening ?
I guess is short circuit. The best way is talk to Panasonic. Good luck!!
Gosh, that's a worry. Short answer - take it back to the store. Longer answer - Is it the whole house or one fuse? If it's the whole house I'd call an electrician in case one of your circuit breakers is faulty.
I remember one house I lived in would blow a fuse if I ran the microwave, toaster and kettle at the same time. Rather than play about with the the circuit breakers, I just avoided running all 3 at once. But if yours is blowing every time, that suggests something more serious. Take it back to store..
Mine just started doing this. As soon as we press the start button it trips the safety switch in the meter box. Any answers?
How do i access the the light to change a blown globe? for the life of me i can't seem to work it out
You will have to remove the whole top white oven cover to access it from inside
Confirm, you have to remove the top cover, which should only be done by a 'competent' person with the power cord unplugged. The Panasonic units I have done were not ordinary globes but manufactured in a heat resistant base, and cost about $25!
Upper plate of cover becomes over heated when microvawe is working, what can i do?
I am not sure which plate you are talking about but I have noticed that some plates and bowls become very hot in the microwave and some stay cool. I think it just depends what they are made of, just trial and error really until you find ones that stay cool.
White china plates and bowls normally stay cool.
Hope that helps
Paul
If you mean the top of the microwave gets very hot, the answer is 'yes'. The top of every microwave gets hot...this is part of the reason for the cooling function after the cooking completes. But it's also important to keep the top and sides well ventilated to give the micro the best chance of cooling down.
But don't be alarmed about the hot top. It gets hot but it's normal.
Thanks for reply of my all well wishers.
Best regards

I have found that every time I use this model microwave that my wireless internet connection cuts out??? I'm using a Billion N router with WEP enabled.
Any suggestions or anybody having a similar issue??
I don't have a Billion router but it is 802.11N with WPA2 and no cutouts while the microwave is running. However we had the problem where our wireless telephone used to cut off the internet and we fixed it by manually setting the router frequency to one that didn't cut out when the phone was being used - a little 'trial and error' involved. Perhaps you could try manually fixing the router frequency in a similar fashion.
You might also check that your router is not too close to the microwave oven - that would only amplify the interference to the router.
I have lost the instruction book to my Panasonic Inverter M/W over NN
I have lost the Instruction book to my Panasonic Inverter M/W oven NNST641W. I can't seem to find where to download it on my computer. Can you help please?
Hi Jo, All I can suggest is you ring the support line on 132600, and ask them to post you a instruction book. I'm sure they would be happy to help. Good luck!
