It’s one of the best vacuums I’ve owned. It’s compact and easy to store. It handles everything from pet hair to crumbs on both carpet and hard floors… Read more

without missing a beat.

It’s also pretty quiet, which is a nice bonus, and the attachments make it super versatile for corners, furniture, and even the car. The vacuum bags are easy to change and not too messy, though they do add a bit to the running cost. Still, totally worth it for how clean it gets the place.

Paid $1000 for this expensive rubbish. We have 2 Labradors so thought this would be great for dog hair. Broom is better. It is heavy and doesn't pick… Read more

up dog hair any better than a cheap one. Can't be used on loops pile carpet and too heavy for stairs. Someone was smoking something bad when they designed it. The brush is part of the the handle so impossible to get cobwebs. The brush hairs fallout. (Emailed Miele and no reply) The canister is small and have to stop and go behind to see how much is in the canister. Insane design. The turbo brush is ok but hates threads or bits of paper and other things so sweep first.

The vacuum suction is incredible but the cat/dog head is an absolute nightmare to clean. I have a long haired dog (Australian Shepherd) and you need… Read more

to full unscrew and disassemble the head to cut hair out etc. Id opt for a Dyson instead, at least their heads just slide out for a clean. No tools required.

For the price of this vacuum, it should not be this difficult to clean it. Especially given it’s marketed for pets.

If you want a machine with a short cord that doesn't extend very far this is one to buy. Everyone rating this as a rubbish machine is right. The cord… Read more

constantly comes away from the nozzle during even the shortest clean. It doesn't pick up well and for the price, it is totally not worth it. I even called Miele to see what they could do. What a waste of time that was. Care factor zero. And they can't not have had other calls about this product. Such a contrast to other items I have bought from Miele which have been outstanding. Don't go near this product as it is really poor.

We've had Miele vacuums for at least 20 years now as we are a multipet household with lots of shedding going on. This is the latest model and works… Read more

well. It only differs from the standard Guard L1 because of the inclusion of a turbo brush. I supplement my carpet cleaning with my Dyson, although the Dyson filter isn't a fan of my German Shepherd's hair and needs cleaning out more often since the GSD arrived. But that's another story.

My biggest beef with the Guard L1 Cat and Dog is that the vacuum cleaner arrived with an ActiveAirClean 50 exhaust filter which needs replacement after about 50 hours of use. Guard L1 replacement vacuum bags require the Miele TU type. While the box includes replacement exhaust filter cloths, these are not suitable for the ActiveAirClean 50 exhaust filter. You need the open the exhaust filter cartridge to insert the replacement filter cloth, but the ActiveAirClean 50 filter cartridge cannot be opened, so I cannot use the replacement filter cloths provided and will have to separately order an ActiveAirClean 50 replacement filter.

It of course begs the question why the Guard L1 Cat and Dog came with the ActiveAirClean 50 exhaust filter when you need a different filter cartridge to fit the replacement filter cloths.

I can only think this is a money making exercise, which is really quite disappointing.
