Excellent Entry Level Road Bike – Light bicycle, good for commuting. It comes with an aluminium frame, so it doesn't quite absorb the road buzz as well as a carbon one, however, it… Read more
has a decent set of bontrager wheels and carbon forks, with makes things somewhat better. The seat is made from Trek's in-house brand Bontrager, and is comfortable and decent enough.
If I had to pick one drawback about the bike, it's the tyres that come with them. Most reputable bike companies stock their bikes with a decent pair of "puncture resistant" tyres, Trek hasn't done this with their 1.2, I've gotten two flat tyres already! Despite this though, what makes this bicycle so good is how light it is, and is something I'd definitely recommend for commuting. Overall a robust road bike for anyone looking to get a decent entry level road bicycle.

purchase so far. Overall a very smooth road if riding on a proper surface. For an amateur, this bike was perfect for getting me back into cycling. Quality, look, feel.
Not bad but expected better – Rides well. Throw rear wheel and gear cassette in bin. Cassette fills with debris blocking ratchet. Have never encountered this on a bike before. Have only ridden this bike medium use for 2 months. Show details

back to back. I have 16000 miles on the bike and of course had chain, and both clusters replaced as needed .The only change was the seat, went gel. If you can find one, I highly recommend this bike. I retired this year at age 68 and ride everyday weather permits.
Update 05th August 2016:
I passed 20,000 miles in July. I have replace clusters, tires, and chains. The frame is still in excellent shape, showing no wear. Ended July with 2541 miles,n.e. Oh in a drought, so riding most days. I think this turned out to be a good buy. I believe this cycle is a good bang for the buck. The new cycles are not a 30 speed, as mine is. I still think you can't go wrong with this cycle.
Nicee – Don’t have one of these bikes, but if I was going to get a bike I would definitely consider this beast for the sole reason of the model number. Nice Show details
TREK Madone SLR 7 eTap 2021 – I ordered my TREK MADONE SLR7 eTap in July 2020 in a black finish paying $6000 deposit via my local bike shop. However, within a couple of days after… Read more
my wife got onto my case about buying another black bike saying a black bike wasn't suitable for road use as I couldn't be seen well. Consequently, I contacted my local bike shop, MELO VELO, to change it to RED/SMOKE BLUE. However, within a couple of days they came back saying that they couldn't change it because it was already shipped from the USA. But, also according to the ‘Melo Velo’ bike shop, the wait period according to their inventories was around 60 days, so this couldn't be true. Furthermore, on checking my customer rights, particularly when they couldn't show me the product, I planned to purchase, I have a 14 day cooling off period in Australia, which I am attaching for other buyers interest who fall into a similar situation. “You automatically get a 14-day 'cooling-off period' when you buy something you haven't seen in person - unless it's bespoke or made to measure. The cooling-off period starts the day after you receive your order, and there doesn't need to be anything wrong with the item for you to get a refund.” This item wasn't bespoke, and I viewed it as straight out BULLYING by TREK Australia & TREK USA, which didn't please me, and it didn't bode well for a product I hadn't even seen. In All cases, I try to be reasonable, and Trek let me down. I already had a TREK MADONE 9.9 2016, and at as older cyclist I was very impressed with its technology, lightness, handling, quality & looks. Combined with my WAHOO ROAM (Head-up display) and GARMIN Varia (rear warning bike radar light) it made cycling a pleasure. I also believe it gains me some advantage over many cyclists and enables me to compete fairly with them. The pedals have power meters, and now that the WAHOO ROAM set-up to display this, I am hooked. If it hadn’t been for my 2016 TREK MADONE 9.9, I could have grown very impatient waiting for the bike to arrive. After chasing up the bike shop, but mostly the TREK agency in Australia on occasions, I took ownership of the bike, more than 200 days in April 2021.
Because my local bike shop doesn’t sell to many high end road bikes, I left it with them for 2-3 weeks on display as I am a great believer in the product despite my initial issues I had with TREK. Furthermore, the delay from what I can gather, speaking with other suppliers is affecting a lot of other top end brands like Specialized etc…………... due to COVID-19.
In the wash-up, I learnt to patient as I was aware they were having problems caused by COVID-19, and I was rewarded because TREK gave me a pair of their top end Bontrager ride shoes and a new technology helmet, which I am grateful. However, it wasn’t without pushback.
As far as the product(bike) is concerned, it has a beautiful finish, particularly the superb paintwork. It feels a little heavier than my 2016 TREK MADONE, which doesn’t have disc brakes (it has rim brakes). Also, its handling seems to be as. good. However, it is early days yet with me planning to shorten the stem by 10mm and change the snub seat for a longer version for better bottom adhesion together some decorative wheel decals to add to its looks. It does make a difference. I will keep you posted. Post Script. 06JUL21- Have now clocked up some serious hits and a longer rides, and it is superb to ride. It feels rock solid at speed coming down some steep declines giving me a real buzz. As such, I cannot fault the bike, only weakness is the rider. I am also reviewing whether I need to shorten stem or replace the seat since Ive had one Physio on my shoulder.

broke. All product failures and replaced by dealer except for continual breaking of rear spokes which I had to pay for as I was told this is not covered by warranty and was due to riding on rough trails. In the end got sick of taking bike back to dealer to have broken spokes replaced so spent over $200 to get all rear spokes replaced (by a Giant dealer) and since then none have broken. Personally I would not buy another Trek.

very fiddly to adjust but then all new bikes are like this now. Its a very stable bike and comfortable on long rides. Even with my son on the back the V brakes work fine and the bike is still very stable. A good budget known brand mountain bike. The weight of the bike and the qaulity of the parts I would prefer disc model and I did have a rear rim fail but this may have been to incorrect brake adjustment.

so check if you have any super steep grades in your area as the gearing 'may' not be low or high enough for you. In my case it is perfect.
I would always buy Disc brakes on a bike - especially handy in the Wet vs traditional brakes after a dangerous non stop experience with traditional rim brakes on previous bike.
The Tektro Novela mechanical disc brakes have excellent stopping power, but a little fiddly to set up min gap & disc flex when re-installing wheels so there is no scrap noises. Rear was perfect, buy the front I matched the disc rounout to the hub & also straightened a run out spot in the disc.
Quality issues:
1) Derailleur hanger was on an angle - not picked up by bicycle shop that sold it.
Found masking tape had bee left behind from the frame painting process on the top machined hanger surface.
Once removed, perfect alignment to wheel as measured with a ParkTool aligner.
2) Tiawanese Pedals Wellgo M141 started cracking noises - loose screws between aluminium cage to plastichub, plus after 300km still rough to turn, swapped out for Wellgo M138 with one side sealed bearing & inner DU - Much better pedal, Why Trek bothered with the M141 pedals is beyond me.
3) Front tyre had a buldge at 90psi due to poor moulding manufacture of the Bontrager AW1 Hard-Case Lite, 700x32c, replaced under warranty.
4) Headset lower fork bearing race cracked 2 places, replaced under warranty - bad heat treatment / manufacture, was causing creak snap noise and was getting harder on turns. Still have the odd creak noise trying to narrow it the source (hope it is not the headset again).
Conclusion
Great road /smooth trail bike and really enjoy riding this one.
For a Trek entry level bike with mostly brand name parts I did expect better standard parts and assembly quality from a high volume bike manufacture.
