Hi. My husband has diverticulitis. Will the ingredients affect a colonoscopy?

I too have diverticulitis. While taking the colon cleanse on the lead up to procedure discontinue use of herbal fibre blend. Once the procedure is complete I resumed herbal fibre blend as normal. I try to take my herbs daily, it keeps everything moving which is a blessing when you have pockets that trap waste! If I forget to take the herbs and feel the onset of diverticulitis- bloating and back pain I personally take the herbs with lots of water and this avoids the diverticulitis going full blown. I continue taking the herbs afterwards to ensure no further issues. If your husband can take the herbs daily it will help greatly in avoiding any nasty flare ups, and it will not disrupt the elimination system like laxities can.

Can to much herbal fiber blend cause bloody stool?

I have been taking this product regularly for over 25 years. I take it once a day, a few times a week. Some friends take it 3 times a day for a few weeks as part of a cleansing program. I prefer to take it regularly as I suffer from diverticulitis and need to keep everything moving. I’ve never had blood in my stools. I had my university lecturer in natural therapies examine the ingredients. She said they are all safe and unlike many products will NOT cause the bowel to become lazy. She recommended I continue to take this as part of keeping my body healthy!

I have been using Herbal Fibre Blend for 1 year now with excellent results, but since buying my recent jar of HFB powder, it no longer works except to constipate me. This very frustrating as I have since has to resort to other natural products but as they are not quite as natural as they can make one's bowels lazy & dependant. Please advise why it is no longer working for me.... Regards Naomi

I’m not a natural therapist, so I can only draw on experience. Are you taking enough of the product? Drinking enough water? You should be consuming at least 8-10 250ml glasses each day. Minimising drinks that dehydrate like soft drinks and caffeine?

Do you know what percentage if any of Vit B is contained in Aim Fibreblend. My blood results came back excessively high in Vi B6 and I do not take any B supplements so dont know why. Windering about Fibreblend beong the culprit?

I’ve been taking this since I was 20, now 46. I’ve had 6 children and dozens of blood tests as I tend to run low in iron while pregnant. Never had any issues with irregularities in my B vitamin levels. This is a herbal supplement which I checked out with a very reliable natural practitioner and she gave it the thumbs up. Maybe consult with a good herbalist/ naturopath who can make sense of why your 6 levels are high.

We use it now and then when our diet is not optimal eg when we’re travelling My husbands bowel turned black (a sign of necrosis) from daily use due to the cascara sagrada ingredient. It did recover once we stopped the daily use. We now focus on getting more fibre in the diet.

Should I be taking probiotics when taking this?

john gaydon

Probiotics mainly work in the small intestine. It is always good to take them to keep your guts in good order, although not necessary when taking Herbal Fiberblend as it does not strip anything from the colon.

I'm on my third week of taking herbal fibreblend capsules and I am getting severe headaches and its affecting my sinuses as well,it is also not doing much for my constipation, I'm feeling more sick since I started taking the product. Does the side effects get any better with time?

Michael Czajka

If it's not helping with your constipation and it's been 3 weeks then it must be really serious? You're probably feeling sick because the toxins are being retained in the body (you're meant to flush them via the bowel).

If you're that bad it's probably time to see a doctor?

Get your regularity back... then try the formula again to maintain regularity?

The root cause of constipation is usually dietary... so you should consider what you could do to improve your diet?

If you want another low toxicity laxative that might help you feel better try raw ascorbic acid. Usually one teaspoon is usually enough to get the bowels moving.

I would swith to the powder. The capsules are great, in that they are easy to take but you do not get the benefits from them as you do the powder (they do not digest as easily). You also have to drink A LOT of water when taking the capsules as opposed to the powder. Of course, drinking water when taking both is advised but to properly digest the capsules, more is needed.

The powder was created specifically because the body is more readily able to digest it. The capsules are easier to take, yes (as stated) but the powder is your better option.

You might have trouble absorbing your medication if you're taking a laxative?

Deal with one problem at a time?
