Have an Asko W6864 front load washing machine. Handle is broken and needs to be replaced. Have bought the replacement handle. Do I need to remove the complete door and plastic surround / screws, in order to access the old handle? Any help is appreciated

Hi. The door on my Asko 6864 wouldn't open. Used the emergency key in detergent drawer to unlock. Now the door doesn't lock at all. Thought it was locked, started a load, and water flooded my laundry, pouring out the bottom of the door.

My guess is that the solenoid or similar has died. So you’d need may need a new lock or it may be a faulty connection. You should hear the lock click when the electric mechanism engages at start of program. Our lock currently half works but we have to use the emergency key quite a lot so I ended up making a more rugged key out of a bit of aluminium. It does still wash and it doesn’t flood my laundry so guess that’s a plus. Good luck

Hi My good cloths are stuck in my 4 year old Asko and I’m about to go away on holiday! It came up ‘wash motor fault’ so obviously I have Im issues but getting the door open is the urgent matter. I have found the ‘emergency door open’ key but can’t see where to use it. I can’t find anything on YouTube . It’s a W6864 Help please?

Hi there, I have the ASKO W6864. I didn’t put enough of a load in so the machine displayed “unbalanced” half way through the cycle, after searching online I opened the door by using the emergency key latch on the right, I got the wet clothes out but now it won’t let the door close properly. I’ve tried resetting by holding start/pause button for 3 seconds and I’ve tried just doing a whole new load with enough clothes but nothing seems to be working. Any advice on how to get the door to close? Nothing seems broken on the latch either

Hi. Just wondered if anyone can help me. Have had my machine for 7yrs and have had to get a service man out twice for noise when spinning. Last guy said nothing was wrong. But had a load spinning when suddenly had huge banging noise. Had to use emergency door open and have a dented drum. Does anyone know what causes this and is it worth fixing. Quite upset as thought it would at least last for 10-12yrs. My last Asko washing machine lasted for 15yrs and no problems at all. Trusted Asko again. Spent a lot . Think I should of got a Meile. Thanks

We've had nothing but problems with ours, changed controller board and now door lock doesn't work, had service people out, reprogrammed the controller, replaced door lock, still doesn't work properly. We gave up and I've now made a metal tool so we can use the "emergency" door opening every time we use the machine. Asko were not helpful at all, worst appliance we have ever owned considering the cost of it. Will never buy this brand again.

Can you show me the tool you made. I have had exactly the same problems. New control board and now the door won’t open. Very disappointed will not buy Asko again

I've had the Asko Quattro construction 2400 RPM for 6 months or so. I often have to rush to the laundry when it's spinning to hold the machine still as almost every wash is unbalanced and the machine rattles violently. It does not correct itself. It doesn't matter what size load or how I insert the clothes it's always unbalanced. VERY disappointed, I don't want the machine anymore. Harvey Norman sent a technical who failed to fix the issue and blamed my timber floor.

A spirit level shows the machine is level and all four feet are firmly on the floor. On extremely rare occasions the load has been balanced and smooth but frustratingly the machine vibrates half the house most the time and I don't feel I can leave the house during a cycle.

Hello Kath, Occasionally I have heard the load get unbalanced but it corrects itself. So I can’t help you in that area. Mechanically I have had no issues. My issue is purely the poorly made cabinet housing everything. It is rusted through in 5 years, I don’t live by the sea, and paid double insurance on purchase but it means nothing…..never again. I’m just waiting for it to looks so ugly I can’t bear it any more then I’ll replace it.

Hello Asko. I have an Asko W6864 front loading washing machine. I am so frustrated, ever since we got it have had trouble closing the door! after 30 tries today I'm at my wits end with it!! it happens every wash, sometimes only have to try 5 times sometimes more but rarely on the first time. Is there an issue, seems to be as others have made comments about it. Can you please please send someone to fix it. thankyou Megan

We have been having a door problem with ours for nearly 12 months now, had an ASKO authorised service technician out several times, had the controller replaced, door locked replaced, and controller reprogrammed. The emergency plastic door opener has broken due to overuse so I've had to make a replacement out of aluminium, which we've resigned ourselves to as the long term fix. Overall, the worst machine we have ever owned, especially when you factor in the price premium and ASKOs seeming indifference to customer service. Never buying ASKO again.

I had the door mechanism replaced, but it did not make any difference and was advised it could be the computer, which would likely cost $500++ to replace. Our machine now just stops after 10 mins and turns off. After several emails back and forworth with Asko, nothing has been resolved. They want me to pay for an Asko repair man (same ones who "fixed" the door lock) to service the machine, but I cannot see why I would or should throw good money after bad and a service will not remedy the problem. I have had this machine just over 5 years and had the door problem from almost the start. Extremely disappointed. Asko is a product I will never consider again. I have never written a complaint before, but after reading all the same issues I felt I could add to others.

ASKO's care factor for their consumers is NIL.

Hi My asko is turning its self off with the spin cycle

Sharron F

I have never had this happen. Mechanically my machine has been as been good. My only complaint is the rusting of the cabinet and I am not at a beachside town / suburb.

If it cuts off during the spin it will usually be an out of balance. If this happens often, it will be due to worn out shock absorbers - you will likely get some banging noise as these get worse. These machines have four shock absorbers that will require replacement around 7 years old ( a bit earlier if heavy use or later with light use) These cost about $240 for the four plus installation. Worth doing if the machine is otherwise in good condition as a lot cheaper than a new one.

The cabinet rusting is made worse with some more corrosive detergents and if the machine is not perfectly level as the detergent dispenser can drain / splash towards the front panel. I cleaned the rusty area and sanded it, then painted with Shelley’s Appliance White ( about $12 ) - has been fine since and you can’t notice it once painted

Our machine is 4 years old and we are getting a water outlet fault and it does not appear to be operating the spin cycle or draining properly. We have cleared the little basket adn removed a few coins - but still not working. Please advise if there are other things can we do before we have to incur the cost of a service. This is very annoying given it's really not that old.

I have been using that W6864W washing machine for 3 years. Suddenly only the start button does not respond. What can I do to fix it?

Steve Wright
Steve Wright

I just found and fixed thus fault The on/off switch is actually a plastic plate with a small pin that presses on a flexible bar and contact on the circuit board Ours had snapped after 5 years. Tge pin was broken off and thus you cant start the machine

The youtube videos are good but removing the control panel is difficult ( clips hard to release) I glued the broken pin back on and all works I checked codes and no other faults

Even if you have to pay for a repair call, direct them to this area and its really easy to fix.

Hi, I purchased an Asko about 2 months ago and today I realised that the machine stops a cycle as finished and turns itself off half way through the cycle. I also noticed that it didn't spin the clothes out after the other cycle. Is that common with these machines or has something broken in it?

Thanks

Have you tried setting it to drain? If the machine has water in the drum it will keep the door locked.

Ronald A.

Open the little door at bottom front left may need something to open it flat blade knife.pull off hose or undo the dial to drain water will make a mess.there is a plastic key in the detergent box on machine if you cant find that use flat blade knife again . Punch the wash bowl to the left and there will be a slot beside the door insert knife into slot with power turned off you may have to push it in and out and rigal it about a bit this shot pop the door open .It sounds like your door switch is buggered .our asko was nothing but trouble I had it fixed still have it but bought a new Bousch machine

Check the filters in either end of hose. We just got rid of our asko w 6864 cost 1800 dollars supposed to be second best machine in the world nothing but trouble since day one door wouldn't shut burnt out control panel balance springs broke biggest piece of crap ever owned got 14 years out of our Simpson before it died never have another asko again

I haven’t had any trouble with the machine at all. I love it but think maybe the hoses are blocked. We have tank water so maybe that is the result of the blockage. I am sorry to hear of your experience because our experience as been outstanding

My Asco 6443 washing machine draws very short bursts of water during the spin cycle, at irregular intervals. I suspect that the water valve is affected by the (slight) shaking of the machine during the spin, and this causes momentary openings of the valve. Before I replace the valve, which is quite expensive, I would like to confirm that that these water bursts should not be happening during the spin. Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks.

Hi I have a problem with my washing machine it keeps showing drain fault

Kay Todd

Check that the filters are not blocked, you will need to clean them out if they are. Otherwise it may be the drain pump.

Oh dont but asko

We have had problems despite the young age and big price tag and the company is not very helpful. There are MUCH better front loaders on the market for waaay less. Sorry I couldn’t give you an immediate solution
