BioCeuticals Intestamine Questions & Answers
VerifiedTo maximise absorption, how much time shroud I allow from taking Intestamine (1 tsp) before taking and other medications and supplements? In particular, Levothyroxine, Progestorone, Oestrogen, Citalopram; and lots of supplements - vitamins, minerals and herbal? Thanks!
Hi Stephanie, please contact BioCeuticals Naturopathic Advisory Team on 1300 650 455 or email advisory@bioceuticals.com.au and they can advise. Thank you, Team BioCeuticals.
Can I use Intestamine that contains curcumin. I am on blood thinners "Apixaban".
Hi Lyn, thank you for taking the time to contact us. Please note there are interactions between your medication and the ingredients in Intestamine, so we would not recommend consuming these together. Please consult with your health care professional so they can recommend a suitable alternative for you. Thanks, Team BioCeuticals
Can i take Intestamine twice a day instead of 3 times?
BioCeuticals products are ‘practitioner only’, therefore we are unable to provide direct advice to consumers regarding off label dosage. Recommendation of BioCeuticals products requires a qualified health care practitioner or pharmacist to suitably and safely prescribe our products, be responsible for checking drug interactions and make individual dosage recommendations based on a patient’s case history and personalised requirements. I suggest you visit a naturopath in private practice, a health food shop or a pharmacy and speak to a healthcare practitioner to help you find an appropriate usage to meet your personal needs. If you would like to find one who uses BioCeuticals products then feel free to use the “Find a practitioner” tab on our website. Thanks, Team BC
Is Intestamine the same as IM Repair?
Intestamine has Herbals: Aloe Vera, slippery elm and mastic. Nutrients: Citrus Bioflavonoids, Curcumin, Glutamine & Pectin. Bioceuticals have a bad habit of discontinuing products which work but don't sell well enough so people like us are battling to find a suitable replacement.
I suggest you consult a qualified naturopath. Some pharmacies/health food stores have naturopaths on staff who are very helpful. I use Mammoth Health in Highton Victoria.
Thank you, but that doesn't answer my question. My dietician suggested BioCeuticals IM Repair. It looks to have very similar ingredients to BioCeuticals Intestamine. My question is - are these the same product (perhaps rebranded for particular stockists?)
Hi k-c, IM Repair and Intestamine are similar in that they both sooth irritated tissues in the digestive tract and relieve symptoms of mild gastritis. However, because Intestamine contains mastic gum, it is particularly well suited to relieving indigestion and dyspepsia. For more info please contact BioCeuticals Practitioner Support team on 1300 650 455 or email practitionersupport@bioceuticals.com.au. Thanks, Team BC
I am feeling sick and stomach pain after starting Intenstamine and other food changes ( oat milk products for lactose/gluten intolerance). I take 1 heaped teaspoon per day . The label says 1 teaspoon 3 times per day but that seems excessive. I was on the improve before these advised changes
Hi, we take your experience very seriously. We would like to further learn from the experience you’ve had. Please contact us on practitionersupport@bioceuticals.com.au so that we can further assist you. - The BioCeuticals Team
Can intestamine help with constipation and bloating. Is it best to take on an empty stomach or after food
Thank you for contacting us. BioCeuticals products are practitioner-only, which means our products require a qualified healthcare professional to recommend our products, and therefore we are not able to provide advice to consumers. The dispensing healthcare professional is required to suitably and safely prescribe our products, be responsible for checking drug interactions, and make individual dosage recommendations based on a patient’s case history and personalised requirements. For more individualised support with natural medicine, you may wish to see a naturopath in private practice who can work with you more closely. They will take a thorough case history to investigate any factors that may have led to the illness and provide specific treatments to help you feel well again. how much should i take a day
Hi Jaquesie. You need to take 5 grams [slightly higher than level teaspoon] each morning about 1/2 hr before breakfast. Use warm water cause it doesn't dissolve well. You will need to take it then rinse the glass and re-swallow. Also, clean the glass out - it sticks to the sides. Intestamine is an alternative to Nexium et al, so don't take them together.
Thank you
Can I take intestamine while taking Nexium?
I would also like to know this. Somac is another - can it be used in conjunction with either of these or only as a replacement?
I have used it with both. But after a couple if days, did not need either. And after a couple of weeks only need this product intermittently. Marvellous.
Rho and Carol, I take Intestamine to replace Nexium [see my answer to Lizzie]. Somac, I take extremely rarely [less than once a month] - just don't need it. If you are in a bad way, perhaps ask your GP for a referral to a Gastroenterologist, who can do a gastroscopy - a procedure where a thin, flexible tube called an endoscope is used to look inside the oesophagus (gullet), stomach and first part of the small intestine (duodenum). Panic not, it is a relatively simple day procedure and you are sedated. I have one when I have a colonoscopy.
Is Intestamine still available? If not why not?
Roy, it is still on the market, just not available at the moment. Although it is made in Oz, some of the ingredients are imported. I've been told about early-mid May. I suggest you contact either Bio for list of suppliers in your area, or trawl around the naturopath practices and if you find one that normally stocks it, order at least a couple of 300g bottles if you can afford it [about $65 per bottle]. As a backstop I purchased "Slippery Elm" powder which the naturopath says will tide me over. I've not used it yet, so can't comment, but if you are desperate, give it a try til Intestamine beccome available. Good luck
So sad that Intestamine is no longer not the market, best ever product I have ever had for my stomach. Does anybody know why it is no longer available?

Thank you so much for responding. I am so happy to hear the product will return. I live in a rural area so have checked available pharmacies in neighboring areas and have been able to get three bottles. . I am presuming that the ingredient that was imported was Mastic Gum which is sourced in Greece and I feel is what makes this product so unique. I have tried to buy mastic gum for years but it was illegal in Australia for some crazy reason. As far as I know, no other product uses it in Australia. I have used Slippery elm on and off for years. is an okay product but it will not work as well as Intestimine and find it can actually make me gag sometimes. Thank you for your help.
