We have a Bosch Washer WAW28620AU and Dryer WTY877W0AU combo. We bought these together early August 2019. Since Christmas 2023 our dryer hasn't worked. We have had two repair people in who were recommendations from Bosch. We were charged for the call and asked to get a new filter. He also mentioned that the machine looked well kept. We got the filter and the dryer still didn't heat (although turning). We had a second recommendation from Bosch come out, again another service charge, this time they mentioned that the condenser was the problem and that, although the warranty on the machine was 2 years, the condenser should last for 10. We have since been taking our clothes down to the local laundromat. We are extremely disappointed that a top line, expensive machine would stop functioning this quickly when these machines are supposed to last 10-15 years.

hi Barb, Looks like we have the same Bosch tumble dryer. After one useless visit from a Bosch technician, I've given up on the Bosch dryer. Note that I've always had a second dryer, one that has normal heating element and supposedly more expensive to run. Perhaps when the Bosch is new that's true but not so after about a year of use with the Bosch. I suspect the condenser gets fouled up with lint inside that can't be properly cleaned. With a standard type of tumble dryer, here's some tips to get the most out of it for least amount of electricity used. Get yourself a bluetooth humidity and temperature sensor, such as the ThermoPro brand as its sensor is swiss made and both reliable and accurate. Please this sensor where the air exits from your standard dryer. Monitor the humidy of the air exiting, and when you see humidity hit a minimum, you can remove clothes at that time for "standard dry" or leave another 5 minutes or so for "extra dry". Install the dryer somewhere where there is plenty of air movement, such as on a patio but not somewhere where it can be rained on. If there are multiple heat settings, use high heat if it's raining, but otherwise you can save money by turning down the heat setting. It will take a bit longer to dry clothes but save money overall. The ThermoPro also has alarms so that your phone can sound an alert when some particular humidity and/or temperature is reached. After monitor multiple loads you'll become knowledgable of the drying cycle and be better at predicting how long various things will take. Buy a dryer that reverses during drying, so things like bedding doesn't roll up into a ball (like it does on the silly Bosch dryer). One mistake is to install a standard heating element type dryer inside a fully air conditioned house. The heat produced gives the air conditioner much more work to do and in fact that made that mistake for some years before realising. I'm now saving about $200 per quarter by having tumble dryer outside. Sorry about the Bosch but the only advice I can give you is give up on it and get a dryer that keeps working year after year, for around one third of the cost of the Bosch. BTW, my standard dryer uses roughly the same energy on the middle heat setting as the Bosch used to, but completes loads in half to one third of the time. My Bosch dryer still looks fairly new, but anyone that wants one is welcome to take it away, it's just taking up space.

Thank you, Glen. I certainly have given up on the Bosch. I will never buy one of their appliances again. I have had no assistance whatsoever from them. I appreciate your long reply. Barb

My Bosch 9kg dryer is 12 months old and it has stopped drying. The dryer goes but the clothes are still wet after 2 hours and no water is collected in the water tray. Any ideas?

Only with sheets and doona covers, and that happens every time unless I tie a big knot in the centre before I pop them into the dryer.

Hoping a Bosch specialist can answer this - our laundry is in the garage and we had a mouse get in the back of the drier. Luckily we got it out without issue but I have to ask (as I would have expected this feature for price paid) why doesn’t your product(s) have rodent guards or vents impossible for rodents to enter? As many laundry are located in garages sadly mice can be a hazard that should be guarded against.

Is a heat pump dryer any good for tropical areas?

Spud

Hello Chris I don’t leave in a tropical area so I can’t answer that question but I do live in a town where the humidity does get a little higher at times. I tend not to use the dryer unless it’s been raining constantly and I never have any trouble with mine kind regards Carol

Hi Chris, Thanks for your question regarding the Bosch dryers. Does this model have reverse tumble to prevent clothes from twisting up?

I have a Beko heat pump dryer and the biggest gripe we have is that it will twist clothing into balls especially larger items like sheets and will be still wet at the centre.

The other issue with the Beko is that even on the driest cottons setting items still come out damp and you have to put it on timer function to get them dry enough to put away.

Does this model have a timer option?

Hi Craig, thanks for your question. The drum only spins one way in this model. Our models have different drying levels, for the best dry you'd select the 'very dry' setting. If you have any further queries, please feel free to contact us on 1300 369 744 to discuss further.

Hi - Im keen to get one of these. We have an older model Bosch washing machine, and it appears that it will be too small in depth for this to sit on top (its about 60x50cm). Is it possible for the washer to sit on top of the dryer instead??? Thanks :-)
