How to reverse the lids on 95l brass monkey
Hey Robert, Sorry to hear about your experience. I bought the 95L GH1682 in Oct 2020 and it is the model that has been discontinued for the GH2082. My fridge ran into the same issues you have outlined the same week I bought it. The Jaycar store gave me the steps to perform a reset on the unit. This was great to get out of a jam, but there was no guarantee as to how long the fridge would run before it experienced another issue.
Due to COVID have only just returned it to Jaycar for testing/tampering and am awaiting their response. Ideally I just want my money back to perhaps upgrade to a Dometic fridge which seem to be more reliable.
Let me know how you get on.
Mine has been back in for 3 weeks on testing. They did find a fault but I want my money back. Said they would call me in a couple of weeks. I did hard resets on mine, they reprogrammed it then replaced it, still the same issues. On a Facebook camping page I came across someone who had the same issue as me, ended up with a refund. I've raised a charge back request/contested the charge with the bank on Friday as I want to buy a new fridge too. Have been looking at dometic/waeco, kickass, kinks etc. Don't really want to go cheap again so probably dometic. Will keep you updated.
I also have the 95 litre brass monkey the discontinued model, mine has done exact same as your has, freezing below its maximum range and the freezer would reach 15+degrees. Somehow our compartments had switched so all our drinks froze and exploded whilst all our meat had gone off due to not being frozen and thawed out.
Took it to jaycar to have them look at it, mind you we had to drive 2 hours out of our way to have it looked at, as it was the only jaycar that had a fridge in stocks incase they needed to replace it
Anyway they checked it and said it's fine and gave my partner the fridge back ( I was at work )
It worked for a little bit as in a week then it started all over again, I rang them back up fuming saying this piece of $h!t doesn't work properly it's throwing codes and the temp isn't right
His all "confused" as to what it could be. Anyway his told me they will supply me a new one which is coming to us in the next couple of weeks. I'd really much prefer to get a refund as go something else like dometic. We are heading to qld soon and need a reliable fridge
To only have owned the fridge for 4 months and it's having issues is pathetic. I had kings fridges before and never had an issue it was a shame at the time of buying the brass monkey that kings hadn't made a dual zone fridge.
Definitely going to spend a little more coin and get a well branded name fridge with a very reliable compressor and warranty
What size battery and solar panel is required to run the 95 litre fridge ?
Hi Robert. Sorry about your experiences. I just bought the much smaller version (GH2020 35L dual zone) from JayCar (online) for a road trip from QLD to Tassie and back. After reading your review I hope mine lasts. I will post a review on my return. My main reason for buying the unit is its size. I wanted a dual zone unit that was a bit smaller than my Waeco CF55 fridge or freezer that I have had for over 6 years now. The smallest dual zone in Waeco range was 75L and it was 10 kg heavier. Also the price was right. I am also happier to rely on JayCar’s after sales service as they guys understand tech better than most vendors.
