My breville is brand new but on the first wash the mixing bowl has surface rust, has anyone else experienced this?

Monica

Hi Lisa, this hasn't happened to me. I tend to wash and dry the bowl right away to avoid water marks. If you're not able to get rid of the rust I suggest you get a replacement bowl. It's quite unsafe to have rust in our food. Good luck with it.

Hi Lisa - please return to place of purchase with receipt for a replacement. Thanks, the Breville ream

No rust but stainless steel will rust if scoured with steel wool. Siggest use plastic or stainless steel scourers on any stainless steel product.

Hi, Had my Breville 3 weeks now. Mainly for cakes ect, has had a fair workout as we had a birthday tea party and I made 10 different deserts. Great I must say. Anyway, making pizza dough this morning and I now have the smoking issue. I split the dough into 2 portions and tried again. Yep not happy kneading the dough. Just wondering as the recipes in the booklet supplied tell you to hand knead. Does this mean the breville cannot knead dough???? Thanks Madi

JLD
JLD

Not sure. I don't use the recipe book, however I wouldn't use it to make any kind of bread dough as it struggles with biscuit dough and I don't want to risk it blowing up. I only use it for cakes, pavlova, whipping cream and light biscuit dough etc. Hope that helps.

Cheers

Hi Madi, you shouldn't have any problem kneading dough. Please contact our customer service department on 1300 139 798 or askus@breville.com.au so they can assist you.

Hi JLD, Thanks for your response. I never use the recipe books either, but thought I would just have a look. I love my mixer for everything else, but had read the reviews before purchasing and took a punt anyway. The smoking issue seemed to be a recurring theme. Anyway thanks and happy mixing!!! Cheers Madi

My mixer was bought for me at Christmas as a present - it was used once on Christmas Day, again in January to mix a single batch of cupcakes then tonight, first cake mix was fine, the bowl and scraper were washed and put back in and it won't turn on.....vibrating and making a loud noise like in the previous post. This is terrible! and I agree it mixed exceptionally well. Does Breville offer replacements?

Breville

Hi Lynn - please contact customer service about this at askus@breville.com.au

Hi Breville

I bought my scraper mixer bem410 in August 2012. I'm not using it for heavy duties. only once a month or so for cake mix and wipe cream. but all the sudden started to make funny noise. something similar to a loosey nut inside. I usually take good care with any machinery cleaning them and cover them.

Is it possible to replace it or fix it? Bought it from Myer and I still keep the receipt!

Breville

Hi Raghad, it sounds like something has gone wrong. It is within the warranty period, so please return it to Myer with your receipt for a replacement.

I recently bought one of these mixers, it is great but can be a little messy when it starts with dry ingredients so now I am looking for a splash guard. Does any one know where I might find one?

Marie01
Marie01

I have the BEM 410 model. On page 30 of the instruction book the boxed note refers to using the splash guard when adding flour so one must be available. Perhaps you could contact Breville to ask them how or where to obtain one (contact details listed on the back cover of the instruction book). Contact ph for Australia is shown as 1300 139 798. Email at askus@breville.com.au.

My suggestion reflects exactly the one above by Marie01! I am pleased to see that a splash guard is readily available, as I will probably purchase one too. Happy Baking!

Is this machine capable of for dough and pastry mixing? What capacity dough and pastry can it mix?

Marie01

I have not yet used it for mixing dough or pastry of any kind so I cannot answer your question at this time. Sorry. I have used it for cakes and biscuits and I am very impressed with that.

Does this mixer have a speed sensor? the kenwood does and has little surges in power when mixing, making a funny surge noise

bradsherman

The Breville has set speeds. I'm not aware of a speed sensor and don't believe we have experienced any surges with ours.
