Breville Smart Oven BOV800 Questions & Answers
VerifiedI own two BOV845 Smart Oven Pros, one at home and one at my cabin. The Cabin unit is 2-1/2 years old and is only used on the occasional weekend so it has a lot less use that the 3-1/2 year old unit at home.
A week ago the cabin unit started throwing E05 codes. Unplugging it would reset it but it would fail again in a few minutes. I brought it home with the plan of sending it in for repair, but when I tested it at home it worked fine, repeatedly on different cycles. It never failed. I took it back to the cabin and it threw the E05 code again every time I tried it. I brought it back home, and it seems to work fine again.
It is the same Utility, (Portland General Electric) and both locations run about 123 V AC. Both oven locations have room around all sides and 4 - 6” Clear above the oven. Room temps are about the same, though the cabin might be a couple degrees cooler (Approx 68 F). House elevation is 350 ft, cabin is 3850 ft.
I’m going to continue to use the cabin unit at home and will take the older home unit up to my cabin, but I won’t have much opportunity to test it up there for a few weeks. I haven’t had any significant issues with other electronics at the cabin. The cabin actually has 200 amp service, since all the heat and other appliances are electric. House is larger but only 150 amp service since all Heating is gas.
Anyone have any thoughts about what is going on. I first thought just the ride down the mountain had changed a connection due to vibration or something, but that does not appear to be the case.
How much is the Breville smart oven BOV800/A
Can you replace the function button on the Breville Smart Oven Pro?
what is the wattage of bov800?
I was given a Breville BOV800xl. It has worked wonderfully for me but now it will flash and buzz when turned on. Today I was not using the appliance and it started buzzing loudly. I unplugged the unit fearing a fire. Can you explain what the issue is?
I purchased a the Breville oven Joule one week ago. I downloaded the app and connected my oven to the app. When trying to use auto pilot I get an error that the door is open and will not start heating. I insured the Door is in fact closed and clear of any debris… As I have use the machine one time already… Please advise
Hi jatomasine. Thank you for your question and my honest reply would be to return the oven to the place of purchase and explain to them the issue as the oven is under full warranty. It could be a number of issues although it appears to be an app issue.
My oven occasionally resets itself while operating. By "reset", I mean it stops baking and sets itself in the default toast function. It behaves as if the power went off briefly. (I can confirm the problem is not the outlet as I have experienced this problem with two different outlets on two different circuits; it does not trip the circuit when it happens; the "reset" behavior I'm describing is powered.) It beeps when this happens. I am able to re-select "bake" and restart the oven. It has done this 4-5 times now, while baking. I cannot replicate this problem; sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't. Thoughts?
I purchased the oven about 6 months ago and love it. In the last few days it won't brown toast or crumpets. Even when I use the darkest setting. Any ideas anyone? Thanks, John.
I am receiving an error message (EO5) and now the toaster over will not work... can you offer any assistance? Jeff
My Smart Oven periodically shows a EO5 and then shuts down ... exactly what is the problem ??
Hi Diane. There could be a number of causes. By means of elimination please try using a different wall socket/outlet. This sounds a bit strange but in many cases a specific outlet and or its wiring can cause the E05 error.
Can I use aluminum foil in bottom of broiler pan when I am broiling?
I can see no reason why you cannot use foil. I use foil often.
oven temperature does not adjust. Any help?

My Breville toaster oven which is about 7 years old keeps giving me an E05 error.
Hi, I've had no issue with mine. But I found the manual online and it says on page 27 that it means that it is non resettable and contact Breville. Not sure if they would help but you never know. Here is the manual link external link
With that error, it's best to contact us directly. You can do so by calling 61 1300 139 798 visiting our website form at external link or sending us an email to askus@breville.com.au
Error 05 is a failed triac, It's a component that helps the oven regulate the temperature. Google it for details, and I see Breville corporate is here in this answers tread, shame on you for keeping this secret everywhere I looked online. When people pay $500 for a toaster oven they damn better be able to fix them. E05 Triac Failed E02 Thermistor short circuit E01 Thermistor open circuit
I’ve had 3 ovens throw this code! And Breville replaced 2 of them. They finally said they’d refund my money! THEN, they said our solar panels may have something to do with the problem? WTH??? Can you imagine e selling a product that may be affected by solar panels??? Unplugging, and replugging the oven resets it....
I have had 4 of these ovens in the last 7 months, all of them are throwing the E05 error and yes they are the only device on a power circuit.. these are a complete waste of money and its got to a point where I just cant be bothered getting replacements any more. complete rubbish item and at no stage has Harvey Norman or Breville offered a money back refund
I recently received a replacement oven for mine which stopped working after two weeks (from Harvey Norman). The one returned was a SMART OVEN PRO BOV850 ... and the replacement received was a SMART OVEN PRO BOV845. Could you please tell me the difference? Thank you.
Hi Colleen, I'm sorry but I have absolutely no idea. It's probably best to ask the company.
The BOV850 is a replacement for the BOV845 and costs more money, the BOV845 must have been old stock, on the BOV850 there is now double glass on the door making the internal depth measurement smaller so if yoiu are going from the 845 to the 850, any extra items you bought will not fit.
Thank you Paul ... no problems with any of my items fitting thankfully.
I was just given one. I have the receipt. I am just concerned that it has been discontinued. Is it dangerous? If it faults will they send a new one?
The one I have is second hand. I don't have the receipt. However if it is still under warranty, discontinued or not, surely Breville would have to honour it if there is an issue. I still have mine and have had no issues. It is safe and easy to use.
My bee ills smart pro oven is displaying EOS and stopping in the middle of cooking. What does this mean?
Can I cover the crumb tray with foil?
No it tells you in the booklet not to cover any part of the oven with foil
I have a Breville BOV 650XL/B After completed the warming cycle it emitted several Beeps and I got the coded response E05 and it shut down What happened?
Mine just did the same thing
A sharp "rap" on the counter rectified the problem and reset the controls Sometimes simple beats technology
Error code E05 is a failed triac, it's a component inside the oven, google it I also included the other two critical error codes E01 and E02 (E03 and E04 are minor resettable errors)because it seams Breville is hiding this information everywhere I look. That's what you get buying a 500$ toaster oven. Unbelievable but soon these companies won't have any choice but to provide repair information. After "Right to Repair" bill passes. E05 Triac Failed E02 Thermistor short circuit E01 Thermistor open circuit
A sharp rap resets the unit and it works again according to JWC.Sounds like a bad solder joint somewhere.
I just got the EO5 error. I unplugged the oven lt it cool a bit and plugged back in. Seems fine now.
Why is steam coming out the side of the door?
what is 01E message?
Cannot understand the mysterious message but if it's about the Breville benchtop oven I answered someone to say one can buy the spare parts from Breville themselves.Just go to their site & order.
