Breville Tea Maker BTM800 Questions & Answers
VerifiedMPN: BTM800Our Breville BTM800, after my lady put it in dishwasher works still on all other functions but does not warm water any more. Could anyone advise on the possible cause, whether worthwhile to try to fix it and which part highly likely needs replacement. Thank you, Fred
How does the restart happen please???
there is a problem with the start button on the right top corner of the display. it does not start the boiling process. is there any known issue with that button?? can it may be reset? or is it final kaputt??
The instructions for reset blinking do not work. i tried the 24 hour “dry out” method, i tried the plug unplug method and finally i tried the 2 minute hold 4 buttons method. Nothing is working. i even bought a new base. The new base shows reset the same as the old base. Suggestions
How to fix the blink basket?
why cant i buy it in aus?
i dont want a jug i want the teamaker.
As far as I know it is no longer made There may be a similar model overseas It is a great machine Don’t know why it was discontinued If you read the reviews there were many complaints But then the space shuttle had problems too
As far as I can see, the base unit is only being made for 110Vac. That is the US, Canada, Japan, etc. There are some outlets offering replacement base units for sale in Australia, but they are not suitable for our 230Vac system.
I just purchased a brand new Breville Compact tea maker. The basket doesn't drop. I've read reviews, read instructions and have watched videos. Still need assistance!
The Basket light on my Breville Tea Maker Is blinking non-stop and the maker doesn’t work. Any help would be appreciated?
Did you ever get any help? My problem also
I’m trying to buy a replacement US power base as I have a US tea maker with a base that has short circuited. When shopping on eBay the US breville does not seem to ship to Australia. What’s the best means of getting a working power base to work my US tea making jug?
My Breville tea maker BTM800XL is not boiling water anymore all the buttons are functional and beep when I press them. Anybody knows how to make it work. Thanks
we have had trouble with ours, basket going up and down and a few other things, 24 hours unplugged on something that will soak up any moisture helps
It seems to be stuck in the basket cycle. How do I get it to grew?
I have had my Breville Tea Maker for years and all of a sudden it doesn't turn on? Can you help or advise please.
Mt tea maker has mostly been used to boil water however it now appears stuck on the brewing setting. Can you tell me how to correct this.I have tried unplugging it but it didn't help. Thank you
Hi Debbie sorry I haven’t had this exact situation occur to me. Perhaps rather than throwing out your unit you can hit the cancel button once the water has reached the set temperature?
We have used our kettle mainly to boil water - rather than the tea maker - however now "stuck on brew temp" and "brew time" which is not allowing us to simply boil water - maybe we pressed wrong button or wrong combination of buttons? Can anyone please help - alternative is a new kettle!!
Regards,
Jeff S
Jeff S, I have pulled apart a faulty base plate before (as I am working with electronics too). There is no reset button on the circuit board. I suggest you ring up the service department to see if they have the instructions to reset the program. If not, it is another faulty base plate. We are using the kitchen aid with temperature control and it is OK
Peter
Other than calling the Breville service people I would turn the kettle off and then recycle through the buttons and choose something different like black tea and strong and then use the start button.
The button to the left of the display allows you to scroll through the preset brew temperatures and custom allows you to use the up/down buttons to set your own. Brew time does not concern you for boiling water, but the right buttons are used to select or adjust brew time.
For you to be displaying brew time when boiling water has been selected, it would appear that you are in tea making mode.
However, both brew temperature and brew time are displayed when nothing is happening.
I am seriously thinking of buying the Breville Tea Maker, tea bags give a basic cup of tea, I have been procrastinating about buying one of these units because of the unhappy reviews. Have Breville updated this tea maker at all, so it gets a longer life? I have Breville kettle which hasn't missed a beat in the last three years. Thanks
Brownie, Unluckily no, it has been already around 4 years now - the same original design. I am using the third one with a new base plate ordered separately. The second one I used mainly as a kettle but the base plate still died with no apparent reason.
Yes, when it functions well, it makes a wonderful cup of tea as per your preference.
Bear in mind that it normally serves you for a year or so when you purchase it.
Also remember to use a surge guard while using it to prevent power surge damage and wash the tea stain properly.

Thanks Peter, I guess if I buy one I would need to take out an extended warranty.
Our unit is an older product and has been highly reliable. Most complaints seem to be of products four years or younger.
We are doing well with our replacement one. Agree with the person who suggested an extended warranty even though that adds to the cost as with nearly all kettles it is the base plate that goes. Makes fabulous teas. Regular and herbal varieties.
Hello!! I am a tea lover but am little anxious about spending that kind of money for something that seems to last 1-2 years!! I had bought one from Cuisart years ago, Loved it!! It lasted a few months and I was devastated because like I said I loved it!! I used it everyday!! I would like some assurance that I will not have any issues replacing the parts, if needed!! Thanks for your reply!!
My replacement one is still going BUT I seriously doubt if you would be able to get parts. Most kettles seem to have very short lives these days. One solution might be to purchase with an extended warranty.
DenaLynn Milton, No doubt, the tea brewing functionality design is excellent with accurate timing and temperature control but the product quality (tea port and electronic power base) requires improvement. From the second one on, I only use it as a kettle. Reason being the bottom lining of the tea port is Teflon like material. I believe it will get brittle and crack if I keep cleaning the tea stains with boiling vinegar. But the control base still dies after 13 months !!! I just have a new control base for my third one. It costs around 1/2 the price of a whole new kettle and comes with only 3 month warranty.
If you brew your own tea but just want a supply of water at specific temperature (eg. for white tea), you may consider a product like KitchenAid (which has temperature control). Please read review about it before you make your decision. I brought one 2 months ago and it works OK.
I also have brought another brand of kettle with temperature control (cafe series) for my son. The lib cannot be closed and the whole handle falls out after a year. The company told me there are no spare parts for it (handle and spring for the lib !!!). I am going to write a review for it soon.
Good luck to choose A right one.
Good evening is there anything I can do to get the basket cycle to work properly again? Bought the unit in February 2015 and the basket does not stay up anymore, it goes straight to the bottom and stays there, then after a while 'reset' flashes on the screen and nothing happens.

I've had the kettle for a few years now, upon moving it was misplaced and has just been found after a year. It is very discoloured from tea and almost looks rusty in the basket and inside the kettle. Any tips on cleaning please?
Vanessa
