For victims of this business and its Director/Owner, have you seen the statement by Queensland's Attorney General? She had a lot to say on A Current Affair. The article is linked below, you can also watch the story via the 9NOW platform and the link within the article.

Also, today a warning has been issued by the Queensland Government in relation to the Business(s) and its Director/Owner - external link

Please also note, the QBCC have asked that victims reach out to the Queensland Police Service. I note “ The QBCC has been asked to advise homeowners that if your allegation has not been reported to the QPS then please do so.” Complaints need to be made in person to your nearest police station. “Equally, by reporting the matter, the extent of [The Director’s] activity will be visible to the QPS.”

Have you reported to the QPS? To the Office of Fair Trading? Both are worthwhile and with warnings in place the authorities are listening.

Are people getting in touch with the liquidators? If you check the ACN or business name there is a notice from 01/03/2024. It states the Company will be wound up and a liquidator will be appointed. That has been done and all information is available via the ASIC website.

Have you contacted The Office of Fair Trading? If you are a victim and wondering where else there is to turn, please get in touch with the Office of Fair Trading. Definitely worth filing in this form.

Does anyone know of any new names the owner of this Business is using? Aside from Brisbane Fencing & Decking there is Queensland Fencing & Decking, Cre8tive Concepts, Cartier Constructions, Baybreeze Building & Design and F1nesse Carpentry. Would anyone have any newer business names? These are all under the same business owner and he has a number of QBCC licenses to wave around, so if anyone know of any others that would be great.

this company has not closed down, its simply using the same abn with a differnt trading name of "queensland fencing and decking", use ABR look up or ABN lookup of 94 662 155 311.

Im about to start down the QBCC route. Can I ask who else has already started a QBCC complaint. I ask because my checking of the business before I paid them was basically seeing if there was anything against them on the QBCC website. There was nothing, yet "Marina U" seems to have started a complaint 8 months ago.

There were once far more negative reviews on this page. Sadly the owner threatens and harasses his victims and many have been removed. It is of concern that clearly, many, many people have complained and it hasn’t gotten anywhere. I have sent you a message.

We complained to the QBCC about 2 months ago and our claim was denied. They said that because a retaining wall isn’t structural, insurance didn’t cover it. We are flabagasted as to how he is able to constantly keep trading and boasting of his QBCC licensing when I am sure there have been so many complaints to the QBCC. We are going down the QCAT route now.

I have lodged a complaint with QBCC and they encourage anyone else on this forum that has been scammed by this company to also lodge a complaint with QBCC

Please, if you are a victim of this business, get in touch with the QBCC and file a complaint. There are conditions on this license and it's important that you reach out to them. I welcome a message if I can help in any way. QBCC need the list of victims so it's an important step in the process.

Hi Mel, I seem to be a recent victim, we were promised a new fence before Christmas, we have had no communication from Brisbane Fencing & Decking since mid November (after paying the deposit) and of course now there seems to be no way to communicate with the company. Our deposit paid was just over $4000 and I would definitely like to stop this guy from claiming more victims. I would like to think we would get reimbursed by chance if that is even possible. you mention you could help in the process, I have had a quick look at the QBCC and QCAT sites and I am a little overwhelmed as to what exactly I need to do. I would much appreciate help to prepare the right complaint forms etc. If you are still open to helping.

What can we all do together to stop this

Put a notice of offence for breaking contract and breaching QBCC deposit limits (5% is all they can request). To retrieve money, go through QCAT. We had given until today to have our funds returned which unfortunately has not been honoured so will be embarking on this process.

He's got $3.5k of our money. As he's gone completely AWOL (no phones, website gone, not answering emails) it looks as though QBCC/QCAT is the only option for us.
