Plan and paperwork
This is the area surely Burbank needs to improve. We did we find lots of mistakes in plans and pricing at this stage. We spent days in meetings with our 2nd Home Consultant Mark. He was very thorough and noted all details.
Similarly, there were lots of honest admin mistakes in pricing. However, their customer services team helped us to get those fixed.
Colour Selections
I was amazed hour our interior designer Belinda spent 8 hours without any break. Matching the colour tones of the exterior and interior of the house. Ensuring we are only spending money where it's required. Surely we felt like she was designing the house with the heart. The photos I have attached probably not justifying the actual feel of the house.
Build
Our supervisor was very responsive and kept us informed during the process. He was honest with us. Surely they have good trades. He listened to our feedback and got those things fixed swiftly.

follow ups with getting an actual contract. We were offered free 5kw solar, with the option to add 2 panels & a battery for $5,000 extra. The contract finally was done with $26,000 For the solar. Site costs were estimated @ $40,000 Contract $60,000 they were told no spoil was needed to be moved off site too, but the spoil was paid to be moved. The site was clear & only needed some excavation. Excavation started & another $3,000 was asked for. Their fixed site costs dont exist as advertised ! The alfresco was quoted @ $10,000 Contract $20,000 As soon as we were having issues, sales were coming up with stories & excuses. We ended up dealing with the regional sales manager, she was on our side, but head office kept over turning everything. Our site forman was nice, but couldn't organise our job. We ended up with the regional site manager, who was useless too. Months would go past & only a couple of days were spent on the build. Any issues weren't rectified when told, they waited until it was too late. The sliding doors needed to be set @ a certain height as asked by the site manager, but they didn't do what I told them. The electrician installed two power outlets too close together, it was an easy fix, but nothing was done, the walls were plastered, painted & finished. The plumber used our top soil in the slab prep. The sewer pipes were meant to come out from 1 point of the slab, the 3 sewer pipes were exiting the slab from three points around the house & nothing was joined together, so 3 seperate outlets which went no where, eventually the plumber came back to finish the plumbing & charged us another $9,000 to connect the 3 pipes & then have to excavate around the house to join them all up together. I had to follow up on the water metre connection, as I was told we already had water on site, but we didn't, they were told it needed to go near the electrical power from the street, which was on the boundary corner, The water company wasn't told, so it was placed in the middle of the frontage which meant extra work & cost to get it to the house. I had to spend hours & days trying to get the power meter connected & installed, as it didn't happen when it was meant to, apparently it was our fault it wasn't done, yet it was Burbanks job to organise it. We wanted to install our own oven,cooktop & rangehood, but we're denied, we had to take their appliances & after hand over, get our electrician to swap them over & sell their appliances. We paid for a heat pump hot water service as an upgrade, we had to fight to get their hot water service credited. They were charging us for two units. Anything you didn't want wasn't credited. They sent out a satisfaction survey on how happy we were & how likely would we recommend family & friends etc. They weren't happy with negative feedback. A manager called me soon after I completed the survey & was trying to understand the issues, but didn't rectify much, the hot water unit was credited, the extra plumbing charge was credited $2,000 After we objected. But still $7,000 for something which should have been done properly, the drain pipes outside were also put too far away from the house, so they are in the lawn instead of the concrete path around the house. We ended up with a new site manager, but only for a couple of weeks, as he wasn't getting the support from management. We ended up getting another manager who was amazing & doing a lot of the work himself, trying to get the house finished after two years from our initial signing. He rectified the power outlet & organised the electrician, repaired the original hole & organised a painter, he managed to work around the sliding door issue, being too low, but its a bit of a cover up as there was no other option. He could have had the house finished in two weeks, but wasn't getting the management support & also resigned, but made sure our house was liveable before he left. We obviously weren't the only ones in this situation. There was an independent inspection Burbank organise & we had also done numerous walk throughs with our site manager. We paid our final account & wanted the keys as we were going to be homeless, there was another walk through with the regional site manager, which was going to be another wast of time as we had already marked the issues with blue tape with our previous walk throughs & their inspection left stickers where things weren't up to scratch. We met with the manager, who had obviously been on site before for a while before us, as all the stickers & our blue tape had been removed ! We were told it was a walk through only & not hand over. We said we had no where to live & the stress had caused a lot of health issues, his reply was he didn't have the keys, did we bring money ? My wife replied we paid a week ago ! He then replied he did have the keys & opened a top cupboard. We signed & i had to walk away & just get him out of here ASAP. There was no care for the whole dealing with any of the management. Yet they expect everyone to be happy & recommend family & friends. One of our friends is building, but wasn't going near Burbank, after our dealings. After receiving our keys i reported back to another manager i had been dealing with along the way, lovely person & always trying to calm the situation, but also covering up the other management. She said the reason the stickers were removed was, so we weren't reminded of the faults & it would have been documented & photos taken by the manager.
Follow-up · Burbank have been in touch. Obviously not happy to have negative reviews. Although our initial communication with the first site manager, Joel, was somewhat limited, Burbank quickly addressed the situation, and the overall experience remained very positive. We’re grateful that they supported us in making our first home dream a reality.
A heartfelt thanks goes to Mckayla Grocock, our new home consultant, whose expertise in planning helped us make the most of every inch of space. Her insights made a real difference in achieving a practical, well-designed layout.

He communicates proactively, provides real-time updates, and maintains full transparency throughout the process. He also went above and beyond his responsibilities by contacting my previous builder to help resolve issues when they used our site for storage and left debris which was delaying initial sitework.

reconsidering. The defects identified after completion took months to address — some were never fixed at all — and following up was an exhausting process. Builder Dan Buchan frequently failed to return calls or respond for weeks, often offering excuses when he finally did. Since handover in June, I’ve been trying to have a floor defect rectified that does not meet code. Despite assurances during handover that all defects would be fixed, more than four months later I am still chasing resolutions. We have since sold the property, but Burbank has not communicated with the new owners or upheld their warranty obligations. I have had to personally cover the cost of repairing the flooring issue myself. The new owners have also attempted to contact Burbank about structural details for installing solar panels, but their calls and messages have gone unanswered. Unfortunately, this level of unresponsiveness appears to be typical. If you expect timely communication, proper rectification of defects, and compliance with building standards, Burbank may not meet those expectations. Our real estate agents and other builders in the industry have been shocked by the lack of accountability we’ve experienced. We are now seeking legal advice, as no company should be able to ignore clients or leave building defects unresolved. If you want to avoid stress, frustration, and potential damage to your reputation, I would recommend choosing another builder.

selections is where volume builders make a lot of their profits, so as expected many of the things we liked were considered an upgrade, but our sales consultant had already factored in some of these expected upgrade costs. However we did manage to choose the base options for quite a few items too. We are excited to see it all come together.
We have recently worked with Anthony Costi from Burbank homes in the pre-construction phase of our build. Anthony worked with us to create our custom plan and made the process very easy. what a beautiful lady, she deserves a much better employer! They had a fantastic maintenance guy who saw sense and left, then the new maintenance guy that took over is too good to work for them. They forgot to waterproof our boundary wall, and poured our garage slab, partially on the neighbour’s land. We had crooked walls, kitchen overheads overhanging window, a benchtop that didn't meet the wall, wrong cable installed for air conditioning unit, air con ducting in wrong place which necessitated the change to layout. We also had the wrong sliding door installed, and after my social media comments I was asked to stop, and they would favourably consider replacing the door for us. Well, I stopped but they reneged on their part. They only fixed our issues as I wouldn’t go away! I could go on and on and on, but we have wasted so much time and energy at the expense of our health with this builder. 1 star as I can’t post with a negative rating.

inspector and there were a few defects founds by them which Burbank avoided/brush off blaming on the inspector is not qualified. Some not so serious issues, I've just ignored them and accept them as I don't want them to delay my build anymore. (Imagine you've worked hard and you saved your hard earned money to have this moment of buying your first new home and just to experience nightmares after nightmares). Now after moving in on Nov 23, I've lodged my 3 months warranty inspection (which happens on Feb 24) I've been told there would be a delay (which I'm not surprised). Till now, after several follow ups, I've been delayed again and again without any date on when those defects will be fixed or even looked at. Even till now, we still haven't got any progress for a date of fixtures or even someone to come to inspect those defects. Long story short, if you are looking to build with Burbank SA, think twice. If you are currently building with them, all the best to y'all.

Special mention to our final supervisor, James W, who repeatedly went the extra mile (sometimes literally) to see that our house was delivered to exceptional standards and ensure that our handover went as planned, on time. the “Butler” as the basic design, Romeo and I were able to massage this layout into exactly what I wanted. Nothing was too much trouble for Romeo in working up the final plans and his attention to detail and understanding of what I was trying to achieve made the whole process very easy and satisfying. Checking out the quality of Burbank’s finished product by looking at the display homes was also a great experience, both in terms of the quality of the builds and the display home staff. So far I can't fault my journey with Burbank. Looking forward to the next stages of the journey. The next part of the process was my selections, which completed with Cherie at Burbank's totally comprehensive selections facility. I've done this many times before, with other builders and it was very arduous. They made you run all over town to up to 6 different locations to chose all the different components. This required making numerous appointments, travelling to far flung destinations and dealing with a lot of different people. A nightmare. At Burbank its all finished in a couple hours, on one day, with one appointment, in a single place and dealing with only one person. This is a great relief and saves a lot of time and energy. In addition there is that "one person" - Cherie. She is the icing on the cake. She is so knowledgeable in every aspect of this part of the process, and makes what is normally a tedious and tiring process exciting and ultimately satisfying. Knowledgeable - by knowing the complete range of what is available in every category - then being able to understand the house plans in intimate detail to help me get my head around what is the best choice for each item. Then, she is also very helpful and competent at assisting with colour schemes, to produce a completely satisfying result. All in all the Burbank selection process gets 10/10 from me. A normally tiring, unsatisfying, tedious, arduous chore is made easy, quick and satisfying by their attention to producing a process that ends with a great customer experience.
