BGC / Commodore Homes build experience – Although our experience with BGC/ Commodore Homes has been a lengthy one (over 3 years) which has been frustrating at times the quality of build at handover was very satisfying. Their tradespeople have done BGC proud, and the admin team and site supervisor have been excellent to deal with. Credit to them too in that the price variation of $9.5k… Read more

was fair, particularly in light of others experiences. Management are a different story and do no credit to their company, being unwilling at all to entertain any requested variations after sign off of plans - even though their was no action on site for months. Pure petulance. Now wiser for the experience I would build with them again based on build quality, $ value and certainty of completion.

Biggest regret of my life – We chose what we thought was a firm and trusted builder. How blind we must have been. It's been 2 years of extremely slow progress. We have sourced our own brickie and paid above the paid rates. We spent almost 300 days in Administration waiting to be moved to Construction. Then it was another 2 months before we had a slab. Please do your homework and don't ignore the bad press. It is real! Show details

THE BGC/COMMODORE IS WORST THAN A SCAM!!! THIS IS MY GREATEST LIFE MISTAKE AND MY MENTAL HEALTH IS BEEN AFECTED BY THIS – Signing this building contract is the worst decision of my life. My wife warned me not to go with this guys as a God fearing lady, she said her spirit totally disagree with the sales rep that came to our house behaving like as angel but as soon as we signed this contract, he became the opposite of an angel to us, he decieved us into signing… Read more

because we thought he was a christian believer and the fact that we met him through our kids christian school, I never knew that liars also attend Christian gatherings. Our Slab has been down and we were told 6 months will be the waiting time, the 6 months has come and nothing is happening, Its was disgusting and a show of moral failure to inform me that I should go and source for bricklayer, thats an insult and not my Job, you should have inform me that I will source for bricklayer before the contract was sign as part of the constrcution agreement. My heartache each day I pass through the building site on the way to drop and pick up my kids from school, I am lodging an notice of proposed complain today after which I will prcoceed to escalate this matter. Smaller builders are progressing at a faster rate while the so called big is sluggish like a snail. My mental health is suffering due to this.

Worst building company – Signed with Commodore June 2020, got slab down October 2021, Brickwork reported as complete June 2022. However, independent survey reported brickwork not complete with many faults. Still waiting for faults to be rectified and no estimate on date for completion. Well over two years and stuck with the company who do not communicate or respond to emails AND NO HOUSE!!! Show details

Please explain why our house is not ready and handed over based on the key dates • It is more than 2 years since Preliminary Works Agreement (PWA) was signed • It is almost 21 months since the Contract was signed • It is almost a year since the construction started 1. 28-June-2020: Preliminary Works Agreement (PWA) signed with deposit accepted by Commodore Homes 2. 04-December-2020: Contract Signed 3. 05-October-2021: Construction Commenced Our dream home is stuck for the last 2 years and only the slab down is complete, the bricks and frames are sitting at the site for at least 6 months (see the attached site pic). The Contract Administrator, the construction consultant, the Supervisor, or the Sales consultant cannot give any indication of when the next phase will start. Poor customer service and accountability – We signed and paid a deposit in early April 2020 after deciding to build over buying established. We chose to go with commodore homes because it was recommended by our broker (big mistake). We found our own block without the help from the sales rep from Commodore because we wanted to get the ball rolling ASAP. Our sales rep was great - responded… Read more

to our concerns in a timely matter and helped us change the design of one of their plans slightly. But once we were signed up, the customer service began to go down hill. I was working 3/1 FIFO and once we signed our final contract in June, I emailed our construction admin person to arrange a date to complete our pre-start in 4 weeks time when I would next be on R&R. She did not respond to my email until 4.5 weeks later offering a time which I was not home and did not acknowledge my email 4 weeks earlier. We were 'lucky' that someone cancelled and we were able to attend during my R&R. Furthermore, it was another month and a half until works started on the block due to BGC taking time to completed their schedule (which they would not share with myself). Works commenced on September 28th and more problems started to arise. We were informed that 'the side fence needs to be removed now' to a neighboring property which people were living in at the time. On approaching our neighbors about removing the fence, it was found that BGC did not BA20A form at the council approval stage. We had to barter with out neighbors and jump through hoops to let us take down the fence because they believed they were in their right not to let it go ahead. The fence was removed, temporary fencing was deployed and that was the end of that issue. Next issue was with our face brick pillars which the bricklayers used half normal sand mortar and half internal wall cement (grey). Furthermore, they requested that we pay the progressive payment for bricks works. On my own review prior to paying I noticed it and asked what the go was there. BGC offered to render it but we declined which I could tell they were not happy with. It then took them another 2.5 months to knock down the pillars and redo the brick work which was ridiculous since it was BGC or the brickie contractor's mistake. You would think if you or your contractor made a mistake you would rectify it ASAP? Additionally, during electrical work or plumping works one of the subcontractors accidently put a hole in the garage roof. BGC once again asked for payment for the roof cover and did not know what I was talking about when I asked about the hole in the roof. I noticed it 2 weeks prior and waited to see if we would get any information regarding the hole from BGC. I was hassled by the payments persons once the 14 days to pay had past and I was told they would fix the hole 'ASAP'. As you can guess, they did not. The sheet sat hanging off the facia for 2+ months slowing drooping further and further until they patched the hole to install the garage door last week. I tried to get and structural guarantee from BGC or at least speak to the supervisor involved but my concerns were met on death ears. To add insult to injury, BGC had blue board installed instead of bricking around as per design and 3D model. Once again they offered to render it after i raised the issue to them, which we declined as it would look quite stupid and only now they have agreed to cut out the board and brick it recently. At our tile meeting we were told it would be a maximum of 8 weeks until handover will be ready. The day of writing this is 8 weeks today and we still have the following works outstanding; hot water system, paving, tiling in bath, taps, mirrors, all the flooring and electrical powerpoints and switches are missing covers & thats not including punch listing since i have not been able to go inside the house since lock up due to the supervisor not sharing information when works will be undertaken at the house. The worst thing is that BGC claim that there is a labor shortage, but there is 3 BGC homes being constructed on the street to the north of my site which are in-front or at the same stage - when they started their construction after the new year when we started in September!!! I work in construction myself and I am gobsmacked on how they treat their clients when they question anything to do with the build and that you can not even get a call back from a supervisor when you request one to your site admin. We have had to reselect MULTIPLE items due to it being discontinued but we were told in the scheduling stage that they need to order every item in during this time (big lie). We also were not offered any type of compensation when the original item cost more that the replacement item as well.

It is apparent that BGC do not care about their clients once they have them sign up and agree to all their terms. All they care about is getting their money. They hire young admins to be the client facing and the point of contact when they do not have much practical knowledge of construction. The supervisors just wipe their hands with everything and leave it up to the admin to pick up the pieces which is a joke. I felt so sorry to for our construction admin, she ended up quitting due to the pressure which was put on her. We have had 5+ supervisors during the time of our build and 4 admins, which must lead to BGC not being a great place to work at. This was meant to be an exciting experience for myself, and all it has done is create more headaches to a important time in my life in having my first child in December. My advice to anyone is to go and get yourself a builder who will care about your build and not someone who all they care about is the bottom line and $$ signs like BGC.

Looking at these reviews I doubt BGC really care or actually action anything to fix their clients concerns, they just laugh and count the money they received from completing a poor standard build. I am honestly thinking about going to the media, if there is any others who have had this bad experience please contact myself below.

A Gem!! – Contacted the sales rep for the building company that we wanted to go with and all started with a bang. Sam has been great with all his work as he is knowledgeable and upfront with everything that he presented based on the product that we were after and within our budget limits. I'd recommend Sam to any of my friends/family as he knows what he is doing and is willing to assist in every way possible to get the job done and give the best product. Show details ·  1

Great until slab down – The pre-constructuon journey was pretty great. Only one problem I had was with the flooring, not getting the skirting which was the main thing that drove me to get boards. slab down, September) January came around with emails stating 6 months from slab down. The emails proved to be false hope as it came round to March, I had a wonderful customer service Lady provide some information on the situation. It wasn't good news at all as she had stated I was estimated to be another 8 months away!! 15 months for a single brick to be laid.

I had tried to get info at times to see how or if it were progressing, no one wanted to give me answers, also wouldn't provide me with solid answers as to find my own brick layer (no one wants to work for someone who won't say pay)

All in all its quite saddening and infuriating not getting straight answers, with the added bonus of deception on delays, these delays are going to cost me my landscaping package, which I've spoken and forwarded on but they don't seem to be interested.

Stay Away From Commodore Homes And Bgc. They Are Cheaters! – It's been about 1 year and no sign of starting construction. Worst builder ever. BGC is the worst. Bit of a nightmare – Previously wrote a review on here before but after resolving the issue and moving a stage forward had taken down but after issues after issues this review will remain. Signed contract September 2020 due to hold ups on final plans not being available for us until December our finance was done then. I was told by commodore approval from council for… Read more

elevation was held up for 3/4 weeks on the councils end which I found strange so I called myself to only to be told that commodore only sent it to them a couple of days ago and they had approved it already. Site works and slab commenced end of June 2021 after making a complaint on here as a few of our friends that had signed up after us were at plate high. While we understand that there is extreme delays it just amazes me how when we have emailed and we have had responses with no apology just the usual excuse it’s out of their control and within the 6 months of waiting for a bricklayer they cannot check where we are or how much longer it will be.

Today (5th of November 2021) still at slab with bricks we have received a call to say we have been price increased nearly 9k. I dont know how they think that people are going to whip that one out of there back. The guy on the phone couldn’t tell me at what exactly was the breakdown of what that price increase would go towards. We have also had people we also know with commodore sign up after us and reach plate high before us even having site works and they missed out on that price increase and then another person we know 3 weeks until completion and receiving there increase. They had so many people signed up towards the end of last year but continued to sign more people up once the grant was extended even though they knew they were going to struggle with the demand. Basically the way you get treated in each email is like your getting the house for free and that your being the unreasonable one.

Bricklayers call this company “Dunny door homes” let’s hope this isn't the case otherwise I’m in for a real bad Journey. While i have been contact once by one of the lovely managers which did apologise back in the start of the year I can’t say the same for the multiple change overs with consultants I get at each stage.

Its been horrible seeing other people go so far with there build with other companies and us not being able to say the same.

Worst Experience Ever! – If you are considering signing a contract with Commodore Homes, please read the negative commentary on this site, because it ALL falls apart after the Sales stage. Shire. It was just a matter of refreshing these documents (no changes were made.) What a debacle the administrative side turned out to be. Understaffed & staff not aware of where our application was at. Blame was put on the Shire, but this was not the case as I was in daily contact with the Shire and they had sent documents back weeks before, but nobody had bothered to follow up. Also, lots of mistakes & incompetencies made from their end on the paperwork that took weeks / months to correct. Long story short, we finally had everything finalised early December and was ready to build.

Our slab went down Feb. Bricks & joinery delivered end March. Problem is we are still waiting for a bricklayer. Now, we are reasonable people and expect delays because of the unprecedented demand, but what is concerning is that we were told my our Construction Consultant [Name Removed] on April 21st that due to the unprecedented demand,' we will have a bricklayer onsite 8 - 10 weeks from slab down. This implied a bricklayer would be ready to start (at the latest) around May 7th. We accepted this. Upon following up again this week on the bricklayer start date, we were told there is now a 5 month PLUS delay. Anywhere from 5 months onwards! In other words, they have no idea when they would have a bricklayer available. In the meantime, our bricks and joinery have been sitting on site for 5 weeks and will continue to sit on site for a LONG time, which is negligent on their part - what happens if they are stolen, vandalised etc? What is incredulous, is that they sent out an email in recent weeks saying they had increased their bricklayers by 15%. They also are still advertising on the radio for more clients to build with them. Irresponsible, considering they cannot even schedule works to be done for existing clients.

[Name Removed] refuses to meet with us or give us an approx finish date. She will not organise a meeting with our Project Manager [Name Removed] (we will meet him at Brick-laying stage.) We have never spoken with her. When you show dissatisfaction, this company sends curt emails, but refuses to talk or meet. The 300 day build time is a joke as they can extend beyond this time due to 'delays caused by the pandemic.' So read your contract carefully.

We have built alot of houses, but never experienced the lack of professionalism and respect that we have with Commodore Homes. Because [Name Removed] & Matt refuse to meet or talk, this has led me to lodge a 'Notice Of Dispute' Under Clause 16 of our contract. I will give them 10 days to respond, upon which I will send a letter of complaint to the Building Commissioner. I advise anybody out there going through similar circumstances to do the same.

Beginning to Regret Signing Up – We signed up with them 8 months ago in August, at this point I still don't know when they will start building. approval which had been submitted on November 3 2020. I followed up 2 weeks later and was told that planning approval had not been granted yet, and their shires dept had followed up with Mandurah Council. I immediately visited the council's planning application site and entered my block details only to find out planning approval had been granted on 7 November 2020. The communication has been poor, we are not told when the next stage will commence all you get is, "we will update you on the portal when the next step is completed" . As a project manager myself I this infuriating. Based on my experience this far, I would not recommend them to my family friends. I hope that they can redeem themselves in the coming months.

have been from the builder and is ridiculous. Yes we understand how high the demand is but why can other builders seem to keep up? 8 months of owning my land and 9 months signing with you and we don’t have a slab is outrageous. I know others building under BGC who signed months after me and settled even longer after that and have slabs, so you cannot tell me we are all put in a cue. I was told after earthworks it would be 3-4 weeks for our slab, after that timeframe I was told to it would be another 2-3 weeks. It is now 2 weeks on Monday and it’s still yet to be booked in to be poured. Feeling very disappointed and frustrated after what seemed like such a good builder when we first signed.

for Admin and for construction. The sales reps are good but we can't trust their words. once they forward it to the admin, even the sales rep is not allowed to contact other departments. If you get any time guarantee, get a proof or get it in writing. Their may be brochure showing build time guarantee but don't trust them. Don't give any deposit until they give built time guarantee in writing with out any sub clauses. In the contract they cheat the customers by adding 300 working day built time agreement. And making customers to sign pretending that it is a Generic contract agreement. Finally you may need to file cheating case against them and you won't get any peace of mind while constructing your home. They are short of staff and got more work than they could handle.

From my experiences, If you can wait more than Two Years, go with them other wise see whether you can find any small reliable independent builders. Even if you spend some extra money for a reliable expensive builder, it will be worth for you as you are saving more than that in your 2 year waiting period. I signed the primary paperworks on 7 th June 2020 and I gave the deposit on 12 th June 2020 believing their sales agent and their 45 week built time guarantee in brochure and in web site. When I asked about it, they removed it from their Commodore website . I found a few others who gave the deposit after me got their slabs down. So don't trust them. Literally, if you want peace of mind while waiting for your home , please don't go with BGC/ Commodore.

The online portal kept us in the loop with the pictures and documents uploaded there. We have been recommending Commodore Homes to all our friends and family without any hesitation. We are very happy with our new house and would like to thank everyone who worked very hard to deliver us the best. Thank you Commodore Homes.

There was an issue with the external front cladding due to any oversight on our behalf ( incorrect selection) and Commodore homes changed it for us so we are pleased for that. Everyone we had dealings with at Commodore homes were very professional and i would recommended them and i would build with them again with out hesitation. Thanks to everyone at Commodore homes.

First Time Building – I would recommend Commodore homes to anyone wanting to build a new home. The process went smoothly. If we had any issues it got storted out. Plus you have a online portal to see the process of your home. The building supervisor was friendly and easy to get along with. No questions were stupid questions. Once again thanks Commodore homes. Show details ·  1

Excellent experience – We have just finished building with Commodore Homes and I only have good things to say about the whole experience. The sales consultant (Robert Wright) couldn't have been any more helpful, he gave us good suggestions and gave us an in depth breakdown of all costs that would be incurred. We changed our plans on a number of occasions and Rob was… Read more ·  1

always happy to help us. For the build itself we were assigned a fantastic supervisor in Clay Riches. He organised the trades extremely well and was very conscientious of the quality of the workmanship. The house was delivered ahead of time and the quality was first class. I will highly recommend using Commodore Homes and will look to them again for our next build.

Worse builder you can ever find – We built our first house in 2014. They're the worse kind. It took them more than 20 months to built. I recommended them to couple of my friends and they also had similar experience. Please stay away from them. Their sales person was rude and hopeless at the end. Never ever again. Show details
