Contempo SCO55W Questions & Answers
Seems to be taking a long time to get to simmer temperature. Very hot on outside. Am cooking silverside after 2 hours not "boiling"
boil water in jug then poor in.
Thank you for replying Barry. After 6 hours was perfectly cooked, read all the questions and answers here and seems a true slow cooker does not need to "boil'. What great value this slow cooker is.
Is the cooking bowl oven proof?
I wouldn't risk putting it in the oven. I don't think it's designed for anything more than a gentle heat.
Where ca1qn I get a new red valve for it
Where can I purchase a new valve
I would ask Big W.
i brought this slow cooker the other day and followed the instructions to wash it (the pot bit) and then to put it on high for the 30 minutes, it let out this odd smell. did anyone else get this smell? I am cooking now on low and there is none of that smell.
I think it's just the last of the storage chemicals burning away. Like that awful smell after cleaning hot plates with grease removers.
Should it get so hot? My meal was burning after an hour on high, (recipe was for four hours on high) and yes, as reviewer above mentioned, it it is super hot to touch. My old cooker behaved very differently. Have I bought a lemon?
Hi, I have only used the slow cooker on low so I cannot comment about cooking on high I am sorry.
No, I have found that it is not a proper slow cooker, too hot
HIGH will slowly boil your food. LOW is the recommended setting. I'd recommend you read the instructions that come with the device. I have slow cooked on HIGH, fallen asleep and 6 hours later it's starting to boil without burning food so no issues here.
Should the outside of the slow cooker be scorching hot whilst cooking food?
on the side it does say hot surface, but don't know whether it should be scorching thats odd
I just bought mine today and not only is is very hot on the external surface, it is not radiating into the ceramic pot. I have my first casserole in, hoping this is not a lemon, like a couple of reviewers.
i need an instruction manual
You are best contacting the store you purchased from or doing a google search. Mines long gone in the bin.
What temperature does it stay at when on warm setting?
I’ve only used it twice but it depends on how often/when you opened the lid. I would say based on my experience it keeps it warm enough to eat, but I have opened the lid so a lot of heat can be lost (happens with any SC). Either way for the money and features it’s still cooked mouthwatering pulled pork and pull apart chicken! Hope that helps.
Not sure of the exact temperature but it's still hot enough to eat. Depending on what's cook, if found it can dry some meals out.
