Daikin Cora Reverse Cycle FTXM Series

On the 16th of July I purchased a $3400 Daikin Cora 6kw to be installed. The refrigeration engineers did a very neat job installing it (very happy). HOWEVER when the power was switched on it instantly fried. The refrigeration engineers apologised and said they'd need to speak to Daikin. They phoned Daikin for a few days but Daikin never returned… Read more · 2
there call. So I phoned Daikin and got through after a long wait. I have now been given a job number and was told due to the fact of a long wait list, my unit may not be looked at until a long delay (until my job number comes up). A Daikin technician called and told me he has to order the parts. I have talked to the Daikin Technician and he's still waiting for parts. This is a brand new install in the middle of winter. This is one of the biggest mistakes I have ever made. Daikin products are junk and fry instantly one powered. Daikin service is terrible to deal with. There whole service process stinks. If I new what I know now, I would never have bought Daikin. Beware!!!! By a different brand. Look at the Daikin Product review Page, it says it all. Poor product, poor service.
Update, Daikin has fully repaired my unit with all new electronics. I feel I was way too harsh now and I apologise to Daikin. Daikan stood behind their warranty.
Dies after 12 months – Died approx. 12 months after professional installation [previous unit, don't recall what brand, replaced under a recall]. Fixed under warranty. Another 12 months & it died again, no longer under warranty. Don't like the remote layout & the heat & cool icons are to similar in design. No display on the wall unit, nor any controls aside from on/off.
I have phoned the Daikin (Australia) help desk and was advised to send an email I have sent three emails but have received no response at all! My Daikin indoor unit rattles loudly. Sometimes, we have to turn the Daikin heat pump off if we want to watch TV undisturbed. It also wakes us during the night when the temperature drops, even though it’s… Read more
in quiet mode. Indoor FTXM7IQVMA serial # E042770 Outdoor RXM7IQVMA serial # E042306 Purchased on 14/6/2019, Inv P038594 The indoor casing was replaced in early 2020, under warranty due to poor installation. We have had the unit serviced regularly, the air conditioning technicians cannot find the source / repair the noise and as the unit is now about of warranty I was referred to the Daikin Help Desk. When our home was built in 2019, we requested and paid extra to have the Daikin system installed, based on Daikin's reputation for quiet efficiency. Friends and Family who live in Tasmania, have had Daikin and Mitsubishi air conditioners / heat pumps for the past 16 & 17 years, no problems. So, we did not expect to have a noise issue with our Daikin air conditioner when we've only been using it for under six years! Daikin sells itself on quiet efficiency and that is why we decided to install a Daikin air conditioning unit in our newly built Tasmanian home instead of Mitsubishi. However, this is not the case with our Daikin unit, it is not living up to its reputation. Buyer beware of Daikin products, you will be disappointed.

Excellent, quiet unit – This unit is quiet and efficient. I have one in our lounge room and one in our large kitchen/dining room and cannot fault them. I set them on the timer so they automatically come on at 9am and turn off at 5pm each day - its super easy to set up. I like the sensor function that turns off the air conditioner if you are not in the room and turns it back on if you re enter. Show details · 1
Great – We have two Cora's in the house now, a 7kw in the lounge and 3.5 in the bedroom. These replaced older Daikin's and the difference is incredible. The power saving on our bill is probably a good 50% at least to what we were paying! We'd use the old ac's very sparingly and only when unbearably hot due to costs to run but now joke with each other… Read more
saying these one's are free, lol. We run them almost all the time now without worrying about the power bill. It's fantastic
They're both very quiet, old ones were making funny gushing air sounds and no one could work out exactly why so these are like a Godsend. Cool really quick too, great features on remote. Worth the cash outlay for sure
We've only recently found out there's an indoor, and outdoor 'quiet' mode. We thought just having the fan speed set to lowest setting was quiet.. Well with quoet mode on we think it's too quiet! So prefer the faintest bit of sound while sleeping and don't use it. That's how quiet these things can be
Both installers told us they have Cora's throughout in their own homes so thar should tell you something
This is not the perfect Split AC – It worked as an aircon should work. Nothing extraordinary except the price I paid. Less than 6 years later it packed up. Estimated cost to change a burnt out electronic board in the outdoor unit AUD 2400.00. Tech blames it on a short circuit caused by an insect. Show details

4.6 Cora – Quite good Air conditioning keeps smaller open plan lounge kitchen quite cool , heating not the best a bit slow to catch up and keep up , BUT overall quite good 4yrs in Show details · 1
Exceedingly good Aircon unit – Have had this aircon from new, now 3 years, an amazing machine- especially when one picks up and reads the OPERATION MANUAL, which i have just done 2 days ago- the results are staggering if set up as it should be -- yes it took this very cold weather to make a recheck of the settings- used Daikin systems for years, never a problem Show details · 1

Not enough heat – We bought a brand new Cora 7.1 Had it installed professionally buy a insured installer. The problem is it doesn’t heat properly at 30c on comfort mode it doesn’t reach higher than 21c even in powerful mode it makes it worse buy just blowing more med temp air around the room Show details

Unit died 11 months out of warranty – Cooling was great. But they just don't last. Unit caused a short after 11 months out of warranty. The 3.5kw unit cost almost the same amount to just to repair so now I'm being forced to install a new unit. This is the second Daikin that has died on me only just months after warranty. ACs should have 10 years warranty, fact that Daikin now offer… Read more
only 5 years shows that their products are designed to fail.
What's shocking is a Daikin approved dealer has told me that Daikin is the worst product they sell, too many breakdowns and advised me against getting another Daikin.

Broke down 9 months out of warranty ..rarely used – Very disappointed and annoyed that I have to replace the PCB in the outdoor unit 9 months out of warranty ? The unit isnt used often as I have hydronic heating and I live in Melbourne where you may have 1 warm summer out of 3 and its a single person household. . There was no clear advice as to why the PCB has failed and no rodent or obvious… Read more
damage evident. A power surge was offered as a possible suggestion but I have my second smaller unit installed on the same day is still working fine. It certainly should have lasted longer and 9 months past its warranty. It isn't acceptable. It will cost $900 to repair by Daiken , All up almost $1100 after call out fees to diagnose , on a $1900 unit? That is just over 5 years in operation? I really don't think this meets a consumer guarantee for a product. I expected a lot more out of this brand in longevity. I had research various brands and specifically asked for Daiken as a brand to be installed given its reputation. I feel like I have made a huge mistake. Big dissapointed. DO NOT RECOMMEND

Compressor conveniently died after 6.5 years – For units which are supposed to last 15+ years, mine conveniently suffered a failed compressor 1.5 years after warranty expired - in the middle of Canberra winter, thus making it uneconomical to repair. The only reason it's not getting 1 star is because it performed well enough for Canberra weather during its lifetime. Either buy a different unit… Read more
or extra warranty and live with the fact that this unit will fail prematurely. Don't expect any customer service from Daikin either - they will expect you to provide "service history of the unit showing the unit has been regularly serviced".
Hi Daniel, we have responded to your private message. Your feedback has been passed on to our team. Thanks, Daikin

Very Noisy – It seems like this particular Cora model makes loud clicking noise due to design flaws. Installer came back 3 times, Daikin came once and replaced the indoor unit but still the same issue. Daikin finally offered to replace with a newer model - Zena Vogue, which solved the issue. Avoid the Cora! Show details
Too noise in SL mode, sound level is 40dBA – We installed this split system in 2017. In the day one we had found the sound level in SL mode is louder than what Daikin mentioned in website. What they said SL mode - night quiet mode is what they are proud of. They have a special technology on the fan and it will shows the most quiet than other brand. Unfortunately, no..... my past experience in my parents home. The statement is truth, but for what we installed in our home isn't true.
Now, the noise level of SL mode is coming to 40 dBA. When the temperature reached, the sound will stop. When the temperature lower than seting, the sound will start again.
I measured the sound level. Without the sound, the background level is 30dBA With the sound, I could get the 40dBA.
I can't accept it. I had written to Daikin again, and hope they could try to fix the problem.
As for my installer..... he has disappeared since he got all the payment.
Noisy design fault – The units heat and cool very well but I should have read the reviews about rattles. It is impossible to sleep with this unit on due to the magnetic rollers which fail. I get the rollers replaced every 6 to 12 months which buys a few weeks of silent operation before the annoying rattle starts again. I have 2 units which both have this rattling… Read more
issue.
These were sold to me as a premium product but are far more noisy than the cheap units they replaced.
Edit: Daikin have contacted me to try and rectify the problem. Their repairer has diagnosed that a gromet and bearing need to be replaced (which is apparently different from the magnetic rollers which have been replaced several times). I will update this post once the repair is completed.
Edit 2: The unit has now been “repaired” by the Daikin service agent and still rattles. These units have now been looked at 4 times and are still unfit for purpose.
Works well quiet efficient complex and simple settings – Used to cool when over 35degC Works well to warm. Not used much in 5 years as we have shade and a BreezAir evaporative cooler and Gas heating for winter.. Works well if we have been out on hot days and upon return to cool the kitchen and family room quickly then it goes into idle and works quietly with gentle breeze. We keep the unit outside covered from the weather. We check on leaves building up around it, and blow them away..
The worst - so noisy! – I had this unit installed in my bedroom. It makes clicking sound. They send person to check it - some kind of roller is replaced - it still clicks. The problem is because the roller isn't actually attached. It has magnets holding it in place. Of course the magnets do not hold it in place so the roller is always a little bit out of alignment. And… Read more
the clicking is forever. Do not buy this unit. It has an engineering design fault. You will never be able to sleep with air conditioner on. I have two other Daikin units in different rooms that never make a sound. Do not buy this unit
Doesn’t heat well – We had two of these units fitted. They work very well in summer, cooling the house down quickly and quite cheaply. In winter though they don’t work well at all. We often have to keep rugged up to be comfortable as they just don’t heat well. We often turn to the heater they were meant to replace in order to keep warm. I can’t recommend these units. Going strong 4 years later after initial issue – Had a 5.0kwH unit installed 4 years ago. Went well for a while (few months) then developed the scraping ticking sound of the fan touching the case. Installer came checked and tried to stop it. A few days later it started again. Installer came back, inspected again and went to Daikin for warranty swap. They sent a new fan/motor assembly and it… Read more
was duely replaced. Later again it started, this time whole FTXV50UVMA replaced. No issues since ! Great air con, quieter that old unit that is for sure.
V good heating and cooling but dehumidifier really poor – I’ve had my 7.1 unit for 2 years and found it works well heating in Canberra, particularly nice with the fan on silent and the heat turned right up.Cooling is also quite good. Dehumidifying is useless, it does nothing- I measured it and it just uses energy without lowering the humidity at all For this reason I strongly warn this unit be avoided if… Read more
you live in a humid area of Australia.
Remote is clunky, noise levels acceptable- I’ve had better and worse in the past.
Would I buy it again? Probably not, it’s ok but my last air con was better.
Really good Air!! – Really amazing product, got it installed few days ago and its gets quite cold easily, and it is very quiet and easy to clean and run. Very happy customer here. Show details

Fantastic Highly Recommend – Very quiet, quick to respond on heating or cooling, copes with extreme conditions, fits in nicely and not to bulky. Easy controls, Would recommend very happy with the performance of this unit Show details
Noisy rattling even after several repairs – Unit has a loud rattle that changes with the fan speed. Daikin has been to repair the unit twice, and has even replaced the fan unit and the rattle still persists. Remote is slow to respond, so it takes a very long time to change the temperature. I love my Daiken! – This aircon is wonderful. It’s cold, quiet and easy to clean and run. Very happy Daiken customer, it’s very refreshing on humid weather. Best Investment I’ve ever made! Highly recommend Show details
The aircon work like magic – Hi pages DCM air conditioning installer. The indoor and outdoor machine are almost no noise when running. Cool the room in minutes even on 30 degree weather outside. A bit pricey. Great design. So far very happy with the purchase. Show details
Just what I needed – Just love it. Couldn't live without it don't know why I waited so long. Love how it has a remote control and a wall mounted control just in case you misplace the remote which I do quite often Show details

It’s a perfect split system! – Eastwood Air Conditioning provided & installed our air cond. We have it for nearly 2 years. It’s installed in our lounge area & cool the room down within minutes.I can use the oven even it’s like 37c outside. If we leave it long enough, it can cool our bedrooms. We have it on for over 10 hours on a hot weekend. The quiet function makes it good if we have it on at night. Show details
Perfect cantilever without it – Quite system quick install cools room quickly on power mode , cheap price good quality great value for money will recommend to everyone if looking at buying inverter keeps power costs down Show details
Functions as described, except it has an inconsistent rattle. Even after two "repairs" – It heats and cools as described. But unfortunately within a few months it developed a rattling sound. This sound is inconsistent, meaning some times it occurs and other times it doesn't. The rattling isn't ridiculously loud, but certainly loud enough to hear when the unit is running during the night. We have had the unit repaired twice, both… Read more
times being told that "this is a common fault" and the fix should rectify the issue. Unfortunately it has not.
Paid a premium of over $200 for what we thought was the best build quality compared to other brands, regret the decision.
Great Air Con – Been using my Daikin Q series for nearly a year now so far so good, it cools and heats the house very well, and the outside unit is super quiet. Show details
Be careful of false advertising – Daikin has advertised this previously (before my purchase) as having a photocatalytic filtration system -I could not find this filtration system, and Daikin refused to confirm if they actually had it. This matter has been forwarded to the relevant authorities. Works well however, will emit a bad smell if left on auto fan mode. Quiet operation,… Read more
given the filtration system I would opt for the panasonic or LG as in my Opinion they have a better filtration system.
Great unit! – Ordered this unit when our old Daikin broke. Very happy! You could immediately feel the difference! It’s very easy to operate and quiet to run. It’s the only unit in our 3-bedroom house and it does a great job of heating and cooling the whole house. Show details
