Hi Cobey B., I bought the same machine as you and had the same problem. Apparently there are two different models with the same model number and only one of them works with the double-press. The solution (work-around) to your problem is pretty simple: 1. After the machine has turned on, press the "Bean" button until "Preground" is shown on the display. 2. Then press the "Cappuccino" button. 3. Only frothed milk is dispensed. 4. After the milk is dispensed the display asked you to enter preground coffee, which you can ignore or escape from. No wasted coffee !!

Yes you can get just frothed milk. Here's how: Use the button to choose Pre-ground coffee first, then press the Cappuccino button. It will then issue heated, frothed milk only and NO coffee. At the end, if necessary, hit the ESC button to exit to the normal screen. I had the same problem with my machine and a Delonghi Rep sent me a video explaining this. Apparently, there are 2 different machines with the same model number and the instructions only relate to the other machine.

Hi Shashi, With the model that you mention, the silver one, yes you can get frothed milk. To do this you will need to press the cappuccino button twice. Make sure when pressing the button twice that you are pressing it hard enough and quick enough because if you aren't then it could be the reasoning as to why it is not working. But this will definitely give you just hot milk and will not grind.

Hi Søren, When you press the cappuccino button the milk should be delivered first. Once the milk has stopped delivery press the cappuccino button again to stop the coffee from being delivered and this is give you just hot milk.

But it will still grind the beans and waste them if I do that

Delonghi update the firmware its beyond us all why you removed this feature.

I Michael, Unfortunately you cannot change this machine to have a steam wand, have you looked at the Magnifica S which has the steam wand?

Hi George, our Latte Crema System does produce the microfoam for a flat white. On the top of the carafe there is a dial that you can choose the froth size, ranging from flat white to cappuccino.

Hi Susie, We are sorry your experiencing this. The grounds container does need to fit firmly within the front of the machine, if it is slightly out the censer will register that there is nothing there. Make sure there is nothing stopping this part from being pushed in, such as a piece of packaging and push firmly in when the milk carafe if not on the machine. Let us know how you go

Machine was faulty & has been replaced

Have you selected Pre-ground coffee by pressing the button with the 2 beans until Pre Ground is displayed in the window?

Hi Themis, would you like just frothed milk? If so, then there is the 'hot milk' option within the menu and that will do so. If you are not getting enough froth you will have to increase the froth dial on the milk carafe. But if you would like to make a cappuccino, we have attached a how-to video on making a cappuccino on your machine. external link 

Hi, I bought the machine 2 days ago and I have the same problem. There is no 'hot milk' option to choose from and double touch on Cappuccino doesn't work. Is it the series problem?

Same problem here. Clearly a defect.

We too are having the same problem. The only way we can figure out how to get frothed milk is to make a cappuccino and stop it before it puts the coffee in. But it still grinds the beans. What a waste of coffee :( we are not happy and will be asking for our money back. This is a huge amount to pay for a fully automatic coffee machine that is very limited in its functionality and has a dodgy menu selector as well.

I have this problem too. When I was researching the manual online said you could do hot milk only or frothed milk only by pressing the Capuccino button twice, I called last week the day after I bought the machine and they were going to look into it for me. Haven't heard anything and they've since change the manual online :(

I asked De Longhi, there is a serie with sku ECAM 23.460.B EX:4 that has an electronic board that doesn't permit to make only frothed milk... Very, very disappointed

Highly disappointed that I can't get frothed milk with this machine. It's not exactly a cheap machine and it's missing this basic function.

That is an issue as all the video online says you can do it.

It is a problem. My son constantly demands babychinos, it was one of the main reasons we bought a fully automatic machine. The machine is supposed to have a “milk only” option. It is described here: external link  If this option has suddenly been removed it should be done in conjunction with a model number update.

Hi John, This is normal for the descale rinse to come only through the water spout. Also have you changed the water hardness for your machine? If the descale light is coming on too soon, check your water hardness with the litmus test that is in the manual and change the level in the settings, if it is still set on 4 then it'll ask you to descale very regularly :)

Hi Tam, where the milk container inserts there should be an o-ring there, is it missing? If it is still there, direct message us your best contact so we can get one of our repairers to look at your machine :)
