I have a new M400 with wonder brushes but it is struggling to climb the walls. It just hits the wall and keeps driving into it with the front end not lifting to initiate the climb. If I give it a helping hand by slightly lifting the handle or very light pressure on the back end then it starts the climb.

Once it does climb it seems to work as intended.

While the Dolphin is sold as a machine that cleanes walls and steps, they will tell you that technically this is not what it does so if yours doesnt, they wont treat it as a fault. Our M400 totally died recently, was only a couple of months out of warranty and they didn't care or offer any assistance. Cost us $800 to fix. I'd never buy another product from this company. A top of the range product should last far longer than a few years based on teh price, which is more than any other applicance in our home, which all last 10+ years and work harder and are used more often too. The only thing you can try is to move where the handle is attached to the body, you can have it in 3 different settings, I have ours set in the middle and it climbs walls. Maybe play with that.

Hi Matt, Thank you for your enquiry regarding your Dolphin. We're sorry to hear your Dolphin is struggling to climb the walls. If you notice that your Dolphin robotic pool cleaner has difficulty climbing the walls, we advise you to follow the following steps :

Check that the filters are not dirty or clogged (although the filters may look clean, small particles may dry on the material and clog it). It is recommended to clean the cartridges after each use, but deeper cleaning may be required.

Ensure that the filters basket is properly installed, tightly fitted, with no visible gaps and that the filter panels are properly clipped to the bracket.

Check that the impeller is clean and free of debris.

If the Dolphin robotic pool cleaner still does not climb the walls, please test a 10-15 minutes cycle by removing the filters. If the Dolphin robotic pool cleaner climbs without the filters, then you might need to replace them. Please make sure that the water in your pool is balanced and free of algae. If your Dolphin tries to climb but slips on the wall, try brushing it manually with a broom brush until the deposits are removed.

If this doesn't resolve the issue being experienced, please contact our customer care team on 1300 693 657 with your 10 digit robot serial number.

Thank you!

Is there a global supply shortage for the M400 foam rollers? I tried to get them from local or online shops and they keep telling me that the stock should be back soon. They've been telling me the same thing for months now.

Hi, I have a beach area with 10 inches of depth, I understand it won’t work there but how can avoid the robot to get stuck there while cleaning the rest of the pool?

Chris T
Chris T · Dolphin M600

I bought a Dolphin m600 in November 2023. When I run it, it rarely fills the filter basket with leaves. I have run the robot 3 times a day and the pool floor is still not clean and the basket is always one third full of leaves. My last machine was a dolphin s40 and we didn't have this problem. I need some ideas as to why this is occurring with a new machine.

R Gibson
R Gibson

Chris, several things can cause this problem. First and most likely thing to check is the upper water exhaust vents on the unit. they are at the end of the dual tunnels in the lid. With a leafy pool, they can get clogged with leaf debris, which will severely limit the water flow and result in poor debris pickup. You can reverse flush the vents with a hose to clear the debris. Secondly, when emptying the basket, make sure that the fabric flaps below the basket are not clogged with leaves. Lastly, make sure the basket is firmly seated in the unit, if it sticks up even a little bit it can prevent the lid from sealing correctly, diverting the flow from the upper water exhaust vents and reducing draw of debris into the basket. Also check that neither of the two latch parts of the lid are broken, I had this happen over time and it prevents good sealing and can cause the problem you describe. Hope this helps. Feel free to contact me at danaallison1@att.net

Thanks for your answer. Everything is clean and emptied. I took the unit to the service centre and the chap tested it on the computer and it came up with no errors. I went home and watched the dolphin move. (I have a large, irregular shaped 100,000 litre pool). The dolphin spends most of it's time at the bottom of the walls just spinning its tracks. For 2 minutes at a time. Then it goes to the other side of the pool and does the same at the other wall (pebble crete pool). No wonder the pool is still full of leaves and the basket is only half full at the end of a cycle. I have daily leaf litter, gum tree nuts and blossoms every day. I noticed that the basket also gets clogged with blossom "mud" and then blocks off the leaf collection chute (the black fabric). I am taking video of the dolphin and will ask for a refund from the seller. I don't think that this dolphin can handle my pool's requirements so I will look for another machine. (BTW - I had the dolphin x40 for 6 years and it ran way better than this model. I wish I had repaired it, but of course, was talked into a new model by the sales masters). Cheers

We installed a pool this time last year and bought the M400 cleaner with the pool. My cleaner keeps getting stuck on the corner of our bottom step. I've tried adjusting the handles to different positions but it doesn't seem to make a difference. It means I have to go out every 5 mins or so to check on it and I can never put it on and leave the house.

Maytronics
Maytronics   DM

Hi Fiona, Thank you for your enquiry regarding your Dolphin M400. Climbing steps and benches/ledges as areas that require cleaning is not part of the mapping process that each robot undertakes in order to clean any pool. As robotic pool cleaners have a footprint of approximately 400mm, it is not guaranteed that robots will be able to climb steps and benches/ledges due to the variance in size, shape, depth and shape of steps between pools.

Whilst it is not uncommon for a Dolphin to navigate to these areas, the water depth may be too shallow for the robot to navigate. A minimum water depth of 400mm is required for the Dolphin to function as it ensures that the impeller is fully covered by water.

Hi Tiernan, Thank you for your enquiry regarding your Dolphin M600. Our Dolphin robots use the CleverClean scanning algorithm to navigate the pool. This unique intelligent scanning system, is programmed to study the different parameters of your pool and thus optimises its capacity to scan the entire pool floor and to clean the walls and/or waterline.

The recommended location to start the robot is in the middle of the longest length of your pool, to ensure the robot reaches all the points in the pool.

If there is anything further we can do to assist, please contact our customer care team on 1300 693 657 option 2.

What is purpose of the handle slides that slide out of my m400

Maytronics
Maytronics   DM

Hi Michael, Thank you for your enquiry regarding the Dolphin M400. The blue floats on the M series range are adjustable by popping them to their outer position. The reason for this varies a little from different models but on your Dolphin M400 dual drive machine they`re usually adjusted to allow better wall climbing ability and or carry a heavier debris load up a wall during the climb.

They slightly increase the buoyancy lift rate. By popping them to their outer position, it gives the machine a helping hand when trying to get to the waterline if the walls are slippery. The same with the debris load, most pools debris is only leaf matter so you wouldn’t normally use the floats but people in very sandy areas that have high amounts of sand being picked up, weights the machine down and makes it hard to climb so the floats can over come that a little as we.

If there is anything further I can do to assist, please contact our customer care team on 1300 693 657 option 2.

Many thanks and have a great day!

We bought our m400 about 6 years ago. Last year we noticed that the pool was leaking. Professionals came and found numerous small holes in the liner. They said the m400 was the reasons for the holes. The liner was new when we bought the m400. If this cleaner does not work with vinyl liners , it should state that. Has anyone else have this problem

Maytronics
Maytronics   DM

Hi Pat, Thank you for providing feedback on your Dolphin M400. There would be a number of reasons why holes could appear in a vinyl liner and as the cleaner is in the pool, it can easily be seen as the cause. There are many variables that could contribute to this and an in depth assessment is required to determine as to any potential cause.

Maytronics recommends to contact our Customer Care Team directly on 1300 693 657 option 2. Alternatively, please email us at customercareau@maytronics.com with the serial number of your Dolphin, any photographs and/or documentation.

We have had the same issue over the years with our Dolphin M400. Our stairs are liner-covered (not the white vinyl stairs) and we have had numerous tears at the stairs over the years where the tread and the riser meet. No tears anywhere else in the pool ever. My only explanation is that the Dolphin must pull at the vinyl when climbing the stairs and is causing these tears where the tread and riser meet. Wish there was a setting where the Dolphin doesn't climb walls and only cleans the bottom of the pool. Thoughts?

Maytronics
Maytronics   DM

Hello Carla. Thank you for reaching out. It sounds like the power supply you have with your Dolphin M400 has the weekly timer feature. The weekly timer feature allows for automatic programming of the Dolphin to perform a cleaning cycle every day, every second day or every third day within a seven day cycle.

By pressing 1, the Dolphin will perform a cleaning cycle every day, for seven days. By pressing 2, the Dolphin will perform a cleaning cycle every second day, for seven days and by pressing 3, the Dolphin will perform a cleaning cycle every third day, for seven days.

Hi Nikki, Somehow your question was directed to me. I am not affiliated with Maytronics, I used to own a Dolphin M500 and was not over impressed with it. The Dolphin M500 did the job as I believe that the M600 and the S200 also will do the job. I found the company Maytronics difficult to communicate with. I found the service Maytronics provided me was lousy. I found that my M500 kept breaking down and kept needing replacement parts. I decided to replace my broken Dolphin M500 (that cost me $2,300.00 when I bought it) with a pool robot from ROBOTEK. I purchased the the ROBO PLUS V2 and it is a terrific pool robot, better yet the service from ROBOTEK is the best. The staff at ROBOTEK will bend over backwards to make sure that you are happy with their pool robot. (you cannot ask for more than that) and the bonus price is that the ROBOTEK pool cleaner only cost me $2,300.00 as well. By the way I am also not affiliated with ROBOTEK You will not be disappointed with a pool tractor from ROBOTEK my pool is 8 meters x 4.5 meters and the ROBO PLUS V2 is doing the best job maintaining the cleanliness of my pool. I suggest you look into purchasing a ROBO PLUS V2

Rhi

We have just purchased an M600 and tried it on a regular and an ultra cycle. After both there is still visible dirt around the edges of the bottom and the bottom of the walls as if it is is not cleaning the curve where the bottom meets the walls. Brand new machine so filters clean. Any thoughts on why it is missing this as I thought it was meant to map the pool so nothing was missed!

Jan4004
Jan4004

Hi Rhi, I am also only an end user of a Dolphin Tractor. I have no idea why your M600 is not performing in the manner you expect it to perform But here is my recommendation. If the retailer advised you that your M600 was supposed to perform in the manner you described above for the pool you have installed or if the literature that came with your M600 mentions that your M600 should perform in the manner you described above for your style of pool then I strongly advise you to return the product and insist on a full refund and try another product. Maytronics are not to the only company that make good pool tractors. I have read the reviews in the “productreview” for RoboplusV2 and 99% of their customers were extremely pleased with their purchase. I contacted my public aquatic pool centre in my area and I was told by the pool caretaker that they switched from Maytronics pool cleaners to ROBOTEK pool cleaners and told me that they were extremely impressed with the performance of the ROBOTEK pool cleaner. It is now up to you what you decide to do. Hope I was of some help.
