Hi - my V8 only lasts a few seconds when I use it on the max setting. It doesn't seem to have a reduced duration when it's just on the regular setting. Please advise?

I have this same issue. Filters cleaned and no blockages. Is it the battery?

The brush in my V8 animal is only doing a half a spin when you press the trigger to start vacuuming get then stops spinning. It does this every time you press the trigger

I just purchased my Dyson 8 and after a full charge my battery only lasts about 15 minutes. Is this normal?

It seems to be the case with Dyson mine too only lasts for a short period, the battery needs replacing but I cannot justify the price of a new battery.Hi Jenny, Thank you for your query, we are happy to help. To confirm, the V8 has two modes of suction; Max and high power. With the motorised head attached the machine will provide 25-30 minutes on high power mode. Without using a motorised tool it can run up to 40 minutes on high power mode. On Max mode, the machine will run for 7 minutes regardless of the tool in use. When new, your machine will be on Max mode, if you move the mode selection machine on top of the machine away from MAX, you'll switch into high power mode with an extended run time. Our Dyson V8 Absolute plus cuts out after a couple of minutes. I put it on and then straight off the charger and it works again, abeilt less working time. I have to keep doing this and the cleaner works for less and less time until the battery eventually runs out. There are no blockages and the filters are clean. The cleaner does not pulsate or surge while operating, it just cuts out. Has been doing this for a few weeks now. My Dyson is 2 years old.

Yes, I am on second battery change in less than 3 years. Their response indicates that the battery is a consumable item and eventually depletes. Hi, Should I charge the V8 after each use (even after short uses when the battery doesn't empty completely) or will that weaken the battery? I use the V8 a few times a day (for short uses) and want to know if to return it to the docking station after each use or only once the battery is low/empty? What is recommended? Thank you!

My brother uses V10 for a couple of months already. After using it, ir-regardless short or long use, he will put it back to the docking station to charge after each use. As for myself, a new user of V8 for 3 weeks, I only charge it when battery is low/flat (left 1 bar out of 3). I did not install the docking station. After 1st time use battery went flat. After 2nd/3rd/4th user, I charge it when battery is low.Thanks Jason! The Dyson V8 Absolute has smart electronics within the machine, battery and charger to ensure the machine won't overcharge. This allows you to do "top up" charges without the need to fully deplete the battery before recharging. In addition, it is recommended you leave the machine on charge when not in use, this will ensure it is always ready for your next cleaning session. The electronics in the machine will ensure the battery charges to 100%, but not over. My V8 is pulsing despite thorough cleaning of the filters and no blockages. I have had it about 2 years. Is it likely the battery needs replacing?

If you are finding your machine is cutting in and out with a surging or pulsing noise this would indicate a restriction in airflow or blockage. This is the best house cleaning tool I have ever bought, but there is dog hair wrapped around the wheels of the soft roller. Can you suggest how to remove the hair? I have tried pulling the hair out with needle nose pliers, but that I can't get it all out.

Hi i have has bought dyson v8 about 6 month ago. First think battery problem runs only 2mins on max mode with rottory head. Now the rottory heads stop working att ali. I have 3 different heads and all doesn't s not spin at all. Power checked going out from the bare unit about 20.6v but when head connected does not spin. All heads and vacuum cleaned and nice inside. No any dusts or head. Anny ideas?

It sounds faulty. I would call Dyson and report it and see what they suggest.I agree I think you must have a faulty one, call Dyson & see what they say as it would still be under warranty.Mine runs for I would estimate 40 mins.

Hi, I have an SV03 hand held Dyson. Just put a new battery on it. It's running, it's putting 13 volts to the port where the rotary head plugs in but when large or small head gets plugged in if does not spin the rotor. The wires have been checked for continuity & are ok, the motor has been checked and here is where it gets really weird, the power is not showing at the two terminals on the motor !! it's like the power disconnectes when the head is plugged in !! ?? any help would be great....

My V8 animal runs for 30 seconds to a minute on full power and then dies. The length of performance on the lower setting is, as should be expected, longer. We keep the filters clean and check the charge before using. My son has the V6 animal and never has the problems we have had with the V8. This seems to be a pattern for this machine. Is there a fix? The machine is not our main vacuum cleaner so is not over used but it is very frustrating and given the reputation of Dyson I was expecting much better performance. It is only two years old.

my dyson v8 died,two blue led,s flashing,bought new charger and has been ok for a week. charger putting out 21v ,,battery 0nly 17v..does not power up at all ..only had it two year is this battery not under warranty, what can I do?

Hi, I am very disappointed that I cannot vacuum for even 2 minutes without the battery completely dying out, after being fully charged! What is going on? I expected much better from this brand, and that’s why I spent the big $$$. Very underwhelming and disappointing.

Oh, we have exactly same problem. At first it ran for 7 - 9 mins., two days ago phhht.Same here, there seems to be a theme, the company needs to take a good look at it. First time I called them about the problem (in that case the battery died completely) they replaced the battery, but the agent acted as if I was trying to con them. do I empty the v8 animal dust chamber before returning to wall?

Yes, I always empty it before recharging, but you don't have too.Hi there, Thank you for your query. While we do recommend to empty the machine after each use, it isn't necessary to empty the machine prior to charging. My Dyson v 8 will only run for short time < 5 minutes used to be 20 on max. when I plug it back in it shows medium level charge . How can I fix this?

My Dyson V8 is about 18 months old. It cuts out while in use after about 5min on normal and about 2mon on max. IF I then place it on charge it shows 2 LEDs and is immediately possible to use again for another 5 min (so definitely not flat). Help?

I have a V8 for about 3 years now. My original battery died and Dyson exchanged it, that was about 2 years ago. The new battery now displays the following behaviour: Seems to charge very quickly, however it only runs for a maximum of 3.5 minutes on extra power (and lately if feels it has reduced even further). Also in some cases it just cuts off power intermittently and works again (feels like it's chocking but I cannot see why). In some cases, when it stops after 3.5 minutes, and I plug it in power for a couple of minutes it runs again for a about 30 seconds. Great machine, but the battery has been a problem. Any help? Actually I just found the receipt. I bought it in September 2016. So it's only 2.5 years old.They were a pleasure to deal with. All you can do is ring. They might replace it.It will be my second replacement. And why should I have to go through this again and again. I bought a very expensive product. The first time I called them they were very hard to deal with, and were acting as if I was trying to con them out of a battery. I can see a theme here, they are selling a defective product.
