We purchased this fridge for our new home in August of 2024. MODEL ID RF605QUAA The fridge itself is OK as is the freezer. The ice making and cold water features are also ok. The issue is the black mat finish of the fridge. I was concerned about a the black mat finish and worried about finger prints, my concerns were dismissed and we were told… Read more

that finger prints were not an issue, this is an absolute fabrication. The black mat finish shows every single mark and is extremely difficult to clean. You should not need to work up a sweat to get finger prints off a fridge door. It is also very difficult to clean where the fruit and vegetable crispers slide in and out.

i would not recommend this product.

Purchased this quad door model in mid 2021 for $3,500+. Never seemed cool enough. However in '24, I noticed a puddle at the bottom RHS of the fridge. This was an itermittent problem. Initially I thought it was my dog peeing there. Of course it wasn't the dog. It became an ongoing problem. I contacted F & P to report the issue. Immediately they… Read more

commented the appliance was out of warrantly so I would be up for labour & possibly parts. It took me a couple of months before I could get them out. Was quite annoyed about that. $239 later, the technician pulled the inside panel off in the top section of the fridge & showed me how the coils had frozen, there were blocks of ice near the pipes & some black material which had melted onto them. Cleaned it all out & advised me to level the fridge. Two days later & I still had the same problem. I had to get somebody to help me out with the levelling of the fridge. If this flooding and leakage continues, I will go to the Ministry of Fair Trading. There is no way F & P should be selling these fridges given the number of complaints about freezing & flooding. I've had a Kelvinator & a Westinghouse & never had so much problem with them. Those fridges were a good 15 years old each before they were outdated & parts were unavailable. This is pretty much extortion.

Had this fridge 5 years now, & whilst it cools well, and looks good....it has started icing up for the last 2 years. Had the F&P repairman out last year, who told us how to defrost it and said it's a known fault. The coil ices up, & the de-Frost… Read more

fan then clacks against the ice, making a horrendous noise. A year later it's doing it again, so I called a private repairer who said he won't attend, as it's a common F&P problem & there's no fix - just empty the fridge & leave it off for 36 hours to defrost it. - 36 HOURS !! - FFS - This is disgraceful - we paid thousands of $$ for this piece of junk....and now it's like we have to practically camp off-grid for 2 days each year to accommodate the poorly designed fridge. I will not purchase an F&P appliance again....

Follow-up  · It ices up roughly yearly. The Warranty does NOT cover the fault…but in any case, there isn’t a fix for it - 3 techs have now told me there is no way to fix it - it is a design fault.

Like other customers I hate this fridge. Apart from always looking dirty with marks, fingerprints etc. I have just removed some magnet photos of my grandkids and there are rust marks all over. We’ve had 3 service calls in 5 yrs. Cheap and nasty. Problems again with ice making. My old Westinghouse never had a problem Show details

Nice fridge with lots of great features. Sizeable capacity that's great for parties, seasonal family gatherings, etc. Love the water dispenser that provides a hook up for our reverse osmosis filtration system and the ice maker. Perfect, love it. Downside is that for an appliance costing $4500, you'd expect to have an egg tray somewhere. Well, if… Read more

Seemed too good to be true, definitely has been – Purchased in May 2018, September 2021 we had the whole top of the fridge stop working, took F&P 2 weeks to send us a technician. When they opened the fridge the whole inside was covered in ice due to a fault in design. First clue was a loud compressor, which is happening yet again. Would not recommend to anyone. If it goes soon, we’ll be asking for a refund, just glad we purchased extra warranty/ replacement cover in the end. Show details

Great Fridge – I really like the look and performance of our new fridge. The 'black stainless steel' looks great against the off white kitchen cupboards...excellent finish. Also having no handles makes for a very clean and streamlined looking fridge as well as being easy to wipe over the doors when cleaning. The layout inside and on the doors is excellent. Quad doors without handles is the way to go! – Excellent fit and finish! Super simple water hook-up which supplies water to an automatic ice cube supply, and ice cold water through the door, make this fridge ideal for hydration and cocktails! Opting for no exterior handles means the kitchen looks very streamlined, and there's much less to clean. The 538L interior is filled with lots of… Read more

well thought out storage covering every conceivable food type, from fresh to frozen, and the ergonomics are excellent.

Certainly not the cheapest fridge on the market, but definitely a strong contender for your money.

7mth Update: I'll just add some updates after 7mths, its mostly fine but the issues I have found are: 1) The Doors don't close well.. and then often dont trigger an alarm.. so I sometimes realise the door has been slightly ajar for hours... 2) The French Doors also dont close easily.. I found using a silicon spray in the left side door really… Read more

helped them close better.. but they need a good push to close. 3) Feel like the ice is very unreliable in terms of quantity.. but maybe its just our usage.. 4) Sometimes there is the slight noise of a fan hitting ice that is familiar to me from previous fridges.. and im hoping it is defrosting itself as needed.. but this is why I recommend the extended warranty on fridges, there is so much that can go wrong.

Still no regrets though, every fridge has issues (honestly), but will report back as time goes on.

============== Original Review: ============== Hoping this fridge will last longer than my previous two.. after a lot of research, Fisher & Paykel are one of the brands who put the ice machine into the freezer itself (with a really easy to use sliding tray), this should alleviate one of the main failure points versus other models that keep the ice maker in the fridge section.

There are 3 different model numbers for the same fridge.. one has handles, one doesn't (which is mine, the RF605QNUVX1), and one seems discontinued.. and there are also 2 sizes, this is the larger one @538L (even though the model number suggests it should be 605L), but id say its the former because its definitely much much smaller than our previous 680L fridge.

Layout is pretty good, I really miss having a fruit & vege drawer to slide out though, but other than that its nice and open, nice solid metal on the shelf construction that looks much tougher than the usual plastic, and really nice sliding trays in the freezer.

The Variable section in the bottom right was a big draw card as I like to be able to choose to have more freezer or more fridge as needed.. but in the end I found it has to be used as a freezer, there just isnt enough room to do it any other way.. so its probably not the draw card I was hoping in the end.

Lot of complaints about fingerprints (due to lack of handles) but this is probably only a big deal if you are a real stickler for that stuff.. I dont tend to notice it.

I actually got the 5yr warranty this time, I find fridges are the 1 appliance that you can get very unlucky with.. they are quite complex thesedays, they run 24/7, and when they fail, they fail hard with all your food, water, ice etc.. I really just want to find a reliable unit, I will report back in years to come!

The fridge that fits it all! – There’s a lot to love about this fridge. We were looking for a fridge that was a cut above the rest, and would fit an abundance of fresh fruit and veggies. This fridge sits at the perfect height for taller people, has automatic ice and cold water on tap, features two rows of crisper drawers (no other model offered this much space), runs at a… Read more

constant temp which is very easy to set or adjust using internal touch pad, is beautifully lit up inside and looks incredibly modern with its black finish and slimline profile. I also love the quad style doors as they are easier to open without taking up so much space in the room.

The downsides of the fridge are that the doors do mark easily, so it needs a daily wipe to keep it looking lovely. If it were truly fingerprint proof it would possibly be the best fridge on the market!

One other tricky feature is that the doors do need a good push to close, as they don’t automatically return to seal for you. However the inbuilt alarm is quick to tell me if the doors have not been fully closed.

Product faulty from Day 1 but the customer service is what lets them down – Purchased from Bing Lee. It arrived and was installed. A technician arrived and advised a replacement part was required. That is where it all fell apart. No contact from Fisher and Paykel for… Read more

3 weeks. So I followed up and they said sorry still no part available. I asked that they call me back within a week with an update. No return call so I followed up again. They advised the technician had the part but they would call me back the next day with an appointment. No return call. I followed up again and they said it had been handed over to a Seniors customer service agent. Why? The technician had the part? When speaking to the senior customer service agent I had to leave the call and asked for a return call. No return call. I then get an email saying the technician will arrive at a time I am not available. Just phoned again to reschedule and yes they will call me back. I don't know if the product is any good. Based on my experience thus far all else works as it should. The customer service however which is what makes or breaks a company in my opinion. Terrible. You can get them on the phone and they do have extended hours hence it is two stars not one. But keeping their word. Massive fail.

Almost perfect – Looks beautiful, feels quality and works well. My only gripe would be that it shows fingerprints really badly and because of that I'm constantly wiping it down. I'm doing what was recommended and using a microfibre cloth however while wiping with said cloth the "L" from Fisher &Paykel came off without me realising and has left a large scratch on my brand new fridge door. Not impressed. So now I own a brand new, scratched Fisher & Payke fridge. Show details

Best fridge freezer we’ve ever owned – Our fridge died about a year ago. We wanted to keep some of the features of the old one eg French door style, ice & water dispenser, but didn’t want to spend $4k+ again, given the lifespan of these things seems to be limited to around 5 or 6 years (I know there is probably a statutory warranty claim in there, but who has the time to go through all… Read more

that when you’re without a fridge?).

After looking at all the models available at the time we decided to go for the F&P rf605qnuvx1 - and to date we couldn’t be happier! • The sleek, no handle design really suits our kitchen. • The water dispenser works a treat (and doesn’t stop if someone opens the other door like our old one did). • The ice maker does its job and leaves the cubes in a good size bin inside the freezer drawer. Our previous fridge dispensed ice through the door, but that took up a huge space and jammed pretty regularly. • The bottom right section can be configured as fridge or freezer. The salesman tried to sell this as a flexible space that you could regularly change between the two modes. I guess that’s possible, but once you commit it to being a freezer, it’s hard to swap back to a fridge unless you’ve used up all the frozen food or have somewhere else to store it. We have another freezer so we use the extra space as a full time fridge. And that has been a game changer. The extra three drawers of fridge space with its own temperature control is fantastic for us. The three drawers of freezer on the left side are sufficient to keep the things you need on hand. If you chose to use the lower right as a freezer too, it would be plenty for a family without a second freezer. • The shelving arrangement in the main fridge (including in the doors) give plenty of flexibility to store large and small items. This fridge is about 100mm shallower than our last one, but I think that’s a better arrangement - it’s less intrusive in the kitchen and stuff doesn’t get lost at the back of shelves.

The only downside was the first fridge didn’t work when I got it home (that didn’t bode well for reliability). Harvey Norman swapped it out for another which hasn’t missed a beat.

In summary, we’re very happy with this fridge and have recommended it to others.

Oh, and we negotiated a good deal from HN. The sticker price was around $3500, we paid $2800 including an extended warranty.

Love this fridge but not the water dispenser – We've been using our F&P Quad door fridge since Nov 2019 and overall we love it, it looks great, everything fits in it perfectly, my husband loves the auto ice maker and I love the lower freezer compartments (the right hand side can be used as either a fridge or freezer, big bonus). water from Day 1, we got F&P out to fix it, they replaced parts but it still annoys us by dripping down the front of the fridge, so much so that we have placed an absorbent cloth on the floor below. We have all stopped using the water dispenser except my son who only uses it infrequently, but it still drips/overflows. The tiny overflow tray doesn't help much, in hindsight we would rather have a fridge without a water dispenser, it's more trouble than it's worth.

Unreliable – Port to attach replacement water filter made with brittle plastic. Broke off while changing filter for 2nd time. Faulty water valve prone to jamming and leaking water into freezer compartment. Fortunately was at home at the time and shut off water supply or could have caused substantial water damage. I HATE my new Fridge – I recently bought a F & P quad door fridge with water option and paid $3500. BIG Mistake. can't get used to the drawers openers being at the bottom of the drawers and the WORST bit is, no matter how many times a day I clean the front because of the finger prints (from only two people) every-single-time-you-open and close-it (ARGH!), you can see the wipe marks everywhere! I have used moist sponges, soft moist cloths, dry cloths, special micro fibre cloths...everything! All you see is the shiny front with smear marks all over it. I HATE this (expletive) fridge and it ruins the look of my kitchen. I asked H.N. if I could pay more and swap it for another brand since I only just bought it and especially since they were the ones who talked me into it. I got a resounding "No". I wish I had stuck with my other choice. If you hate fingerprints all over the fridge - buy something else! :(

Faulty model - leaks internally and externally – Two fridges, same model, same fault. The water filter leaks internally (spoiling food on lower shelves and drawers) and externally from underneath causing damage to your floors. replaced the first fridge. However, the second fridge had the same problem. We have been waiting 3 months for parts for the second fridge. F&Ps customer service and care is disappointing (we are long term customers for over 20 years). When you eventually get through, their telephony staff are polite but it takes 3 weeks to get a technician to your house (we live in Sydney). They don’t contact you after promised timeframes have elapsed. You have to chase them after weeks/months of no contact. Don’t buy this fridge, and if you do buy a fridge from F&P, pray you never have a problem with it. The fridge keeps your food cold and we like the ability to turn the freezer compartment to a fridge. However, you need to disable the faulty water and ice dispenser to avoid spoiling food and damaging your floors. Hence I can only give the fridge one star.

also glad we went with the water dispenser also. Very easy to clean and the internal lighting is again very well throughout so to ensure that everything is well lit even when you have a very full fridge. Highly recommended. Personally I think the whole door not shutting properly is over blown as extra care needs to be taken when shutting any device that has double French doors.

December 2022 Update Thickend of 2 years later and we have had no issues and there are no quirks or improvements I would suggest, Only power user tip would be look for the generic water filters on Amazon - cheaper and the water flow from the dispenser is better.

was right on this one. I wanted to LG tap door fridge (which I purchased for work office instead) but the design of this one is soo much better.

Design is brilliant. -Doors are light, thin with handles. -Bottom freezer with French doors. If you live in the tropics this is a must for holding cold air. -Ice drawers -I thought I didn’t like. Then I used them. Omg how did I live my life without these ice drawers for the past 40 years??! -Ice maker is auto and stores ice in top ice drawer. That means no massive ice maker taking up door space. Thought I didn’t like that idea- I want the ice to pop out of my dispenser! Hmm. Ok I still do but the ice drawer concept is way better suited to hot climates and large families households where you run out of ice regularly. -Good temp control. -Outside the fridge looks nice. -Inside shelves were ugly at first. Now I like them.

Reliability -So far so good.

Noise -Fridge quiet -Ice maker sounds like it’s dying when it’s busy making ice. Fortunately you won’t hear it often but when you do you think about where your receipt of purchase has been filed! We only notice it when we’ve cleaned the ice maker drawer out and its trying to catch up.

Alarms -Sometimes I don’t close the fridge door properly- easy for the doors to get stuck if you don’t push harder than usual. It alarms so you are aware. I read about this on another review of this fridge before purchasing it so I was aware it was a thing.

This is a great fridge to show off. We bought it on recommendation from two groups of friends who bought the black one and the silver one. No regrets would buy it again. Nice one F& P

Hope this helps.

and repeated calls to technical support - none have been able to fix problem. Last visit was a week ago, fridge has already iced up again since then. Only fix is to turn fridge off, and let it defrost over days - lucky we kept our old fridge - not an F&P! - so we've been able to transfer all our food and save throwing out fridge fulls of fresh food. From reading other reviews, seems like a recurrent problem that F&P are unable to solve.

Nearly 3 months after the Fridge is delivered early Feb 2021, we are waiting to have the Water Dispenser to be fixed! – We bought this Fridge brand new from the Good Guys! It is working fine, but unfortunately, the Water Dispenser is not working from day 1, after I have reported to F&P about the faulty, since there is no water come out of the water dispenser at all, we had the F&P technician come out 2 weeks after we called, he spent nearly 45 minutes to diagnose… Read more

He said he will be back in one week. that was in Feb 2021. and here we are nearly 3 months later after numbers of calls and being put on hold so long so many times (Customer Care at F&P are hopeless and unhelpful! in fact they could not careless about my frustration), our water Dispenser is still NOT FIXED as at 22/4/21. Then to make the matter worst, I am told on the phone that the part they have ordered is the WRONG therefore they can not fix the water Dispenser anyway :( how hopeless is that?! Again, I was on the phone with Customer Care so many times and asked them what is going on, I finally managed to talk to a Lady from Customer CARE service at F&P name [Name Removed], she seems to understand my frustration and anger!!! ( I do appreciate her help so far although I have not seen anything progress as such yet !). I have told her I wanted to return this Fridge, why is it such a small problem but it takes over 2 months to order a part to fix it? [Name Removed] told me she will send a technician who is " F&P authorised Dealer" to come out to fix it for us (Hunter Valley White Good in Mayfield NSW) but they were here last Monday 12/4/21 to assess the issue and once again ordered the part to fix the water dispenser for us. They said it could be within days or maximum a week they will come back to fix it for us but here I am nearly 2 weeks now since, my Fridge is still NOT FIXED. The lady [Name Removed] is supposed to keep me updated with what is going on but I have heard NOTHING from her since either :( I don't think anyone out there should buy anything from F&P especially Fridges anymore. Not only they are not reliable and lasting (I have renovated my kitchen so I replaced my 12 years old F&P Fridge, which is still working until now without any issue over 12 years so I though I stick with this good brand and good quality Fridge, but I wished I did not buy this Fridge!) and yet this Brand new Fridge, already have issue. The customer service from F&P seem to be too busy to bother or CARE about customer service as they should !!! I wonder how much longer I have to wait to have my new Fridge to be FIXED???? I am absolutely disappointed with the whole horrible experience with F&P Saga! I wished I could return it and move on. Can you imagine if the Fridge is not functioning/working and you have to wait 3 months and counting to get it fixed? This practice from F&P is not acceptable. Verbally on the phone, [Name Removed] said, F&P have offered me an extended 3 months warranty to compensate for this delay!!! but for the inconvenience I have experience so far is horrible and frustrating.

Minor issues, but customer service is not what i was expecting – Bought this fridge a year ago. As a fridge, it works well and we love the feature that allows us to decide whether we want an entire section acting as a fridge or freezer. The biggest issue is the water dispenser. With a new filter installed, we literally have to stand there for a minute to fill a regular drinking glass (watch the clock for a… Read more

minute to see what i mean). Try filling a water bottle if you wanna go out for a bike ride!!! It only gets worse from there as time goes by. Tried calling F&P about it and they sent a tech. This guy walked in, asked what the problem was, then shook his head and said "it's the filter, not my problem, you need to change it". I explained that we'd already changed filters a couple of times and he refused to listen. He was in my kitchen no more than 2 minutes and didn't touch the fridge at all. I then received a "report" about the service call in an email, and he had lied throughout the entire thing, claiming that he had tested every component and it all checked out. I emailed them back to say it was all a lie and he did nothing. That was a few months ago. I have heard nothing since. I'm surprised by the positive comments about their customer service. This is why i can't give this more than 2 stars.

Worst Fridge but Customer Service was good – Purchased this fridge one year ago and due to the door fault, realised that we were not closing the door properly some days hence leading to water and then ice developing under the vegetable tray. Freezer was very icy and fridge was not cold, had milk and meat spoil after 2 days. Had 4 separate service guys come down and look at it, advised to… Read more

defrost fridge then had a heater installed but still the same issue. Offered with refund or replacement, definitely not getting a replacement !! F&P service centre and service guys were helpful throughout the process.

Love this fridge! – After many years I have finally been able to afford to upgrade to my dream fridge of a french door. I am so happy I went with this fridge and hope that feeling continues. I have found the temperature is consistent in all areas and had no issues with the fridge freezing etc. We use the variable compartment as a fridge and find it works just as… Read more

well as the fridge.

I love the fact that the ice maker is in the freezer meaning that fridge space isn't taken up by a large ice maker like the other fridges I was looking at. I also like that I can make up a whole drawer of ice and fill heaps of glasses and jugs with ice unlike the door versions which is a set amount at a time - with this one if I know I'm having a party I can ramp up the ice maker and just keep popping out ice for a day or 2. It also means we shouldn't have that issue with the ice maker jamming either as with the door versions the ice can melt and then refreeze causing it to jam which should not happen with this model.

The water dispenser works great and I can easily use it to fill drink bottles, glasses and jugs. You do need to remember not to pull away to quick after stopping it otherwise you will get a drip come out onto the floor. I think this is fairly common with all water dispensers though. The water isn't really really cold either which I would have loved but it is colder than tap water. I do like that it doesn't take up much door space so I still have heaps of space to use.

I found the size is great and I couldn't believe how much I could fit in. The shelves move easily and you can make changes to suit where you like to store things. However you do need to be careful with the cheese flip ups - if you leave it up and try to close the door you will hit it - if your not careful you could easily break it. The love the crisper drawers - they are very large and actually fit a whole ice berg lettuce as well as everything else you would want to keep in there. I found many of the french door fridges had shallow crisper drawers but not this fridge. You can fit 2x3L milks in the bottom of each side of the door which is another plus and still put a smaller bottle next to them.

Lights - this fridge has lights everywhere. It is so bright when you open it and you can see everything so easily. There are also lights in the bottom compartments as well that shine down so when you open the freezer drawers and variable drawers you can see what is inside - good when your trying to sneak a treat out when the teenagers are in their rooms :-)

I like the fact with this fridge the doors only need to open 90 degrees and you can still open the crisper drawers, freezer drawers and variable compartment drawers. This means you don't have to have the fridge sticking far out of the fridge space in the kitchen just so you can open the doors right out. I also noted if you leave a drawer open or part open the door will just slide them back in and close, another feature I noticed lacked on other fridges as the door would just jam the drawer and you could crack the drawer - something you don't need to worry about on this fridge. Also the panel/flap in the middle on the left door is locked in place when opening so again you don't need to worry about accidentally closing the door with the flap open and either breaking it (which breaks the door seal) or making a mark on the outside of the other door. Just these little features really sold this fridge to me.

I did find a down side in that its easy to sometimes not shut completely and you may leave it open. The beep to tell you its open is very faint that I barely hear it so I do have to make sure I have shut the door. After about 2 weeks though we haven't really left the fridge open anymore as we became aware of it and now make sure its closed. This would be my only downside of the fridge.

Also at the time of purchasing you could redeem $300 worth of wine. I did this and was impressed with how quickly it came. I redeemed online and had the wine within 3 weeks. There was a nice collection as well.

All in all I def recommend this fridge for anyone wanting to upgrade. It serves this family of 5 well.

Love this fridge – Maintains a constant temperature, easy to open and close and the shelving is easy to remove and interchange. Compartments are a good size. The only complaint we would have is that the ice compartment tends to overflow. Show details
