Sheets are painful! – I agree with others on the review - wish I'd read the reviews before we bought it1 The machine itself is fine, but we hate that it rolls the sheets into a tight ball that has to be untied every 5 min while trying to dry the sheets. The result is that sheets that 2x as long to dry, especially in winter. We would not have bought it if we had known that. Show details
Had this machine 6.5 years This is bitter sweet, flawless machine, very power efficient. we are a lazy family, use the dryer in summer on cold (Let 38 degree summer weather dry it, I hear the haters should of gone to the clothes line) through to winter in the dryer did a load every day sometimes up to 3. broke down shorts out 2 months ago. have… Read more
decided with cost of repair person then cost of possible parts best to buy a new one. I was angry when it died but then realised this dryer did possibly up to 2555 drying cycles maybe even more.
Works pretty well except for the black grease marks – As others have said, this machine wears out really quick. The rubber supporting wheels are poor quality and as a result, the drum will drop down resulting in clothes rubbing and having black grease marks on them. It takes about an hour to disassemble the machine if you are game, and you can see from the photo where one of the rubber wheels has… Read more
disintegrated. People have had this issue on other models of F+P dryers since early 2009, which is pretty ordinary that in 2023 its still an issue.

You lil rippa! One has no need for an ironing lady! – Mate. This beauty which is a pidgeon pair for the Fisher $ Paykel front load washer WH1060P1. Well worth the couple of extra bucks you have to squeeze down Fisher and Paykels pockets! It has a 7 star energy rating, is quiet and when its finished with teaching your clothes to fart in church, they come out in perfect condition. Best thing i love… Read more
about this is one does not have to get his shirts pressed! Does not fog up the laundry walls and windows or the other machines or telly. Even happier cause I got $200 off for being a regular customer!
(Gosh I love the good guys).
Well worth getting. Im in love!

Such a great purchase – Very happy with buying my first heat pump dryer. My clothes aren't heated till they shrink and the auto sensor allows the machine to stop drying when the clothes are ready. I used to leave my dryer on for hours because I would forget it was on. The heat pump allows for the clothes to dry without making the laundry area humid and hot. My power… Read more
bills are also lower. Living in a high rise means I need to use the dryer for all of my laundry loads. I no longer have to have laundry days where my damp clothes are strewn all over the apartment making that's horrid damp smell. The filters are also fantastic at pulling cat fur off my clothes and bed sheets.
Amazing Dryer, SO QUIET! – Our clothes dryer has been a life saver through winter. With two young children the dryer is virtually unheard of a night, which is perfect as it means it was just finishing of drying the clothes without waking the kids! Brillant dryer. Show details
Cannot live without it! – We have used our dryer multiple times a day for almost a year and works a treat! We opted for the heat pump dryer after doing some research and a big winning point was using less power and smaller power bills are always a plus for a large family. All the controls are pretty self explanatory and clearly set out so very easy to set and forget. … Read more
Very happy with the safety features, any built up lint and the machine will beep to let you know. The secondary lint filter is also very easy to clean out.
Very minimal moisture build up when the laundry is closed unlike condenser dryers that leave your walls and everything else dripping in moisture.
For me clothing comes out perfectly dry without being over done. Controls allow for different dry settings to suit individual needs.
The only down point I would say is when drying multiple sheets (even on the sheets setting) they can get tangled up in a ball and you need to adjust them every 20 or so minutes, usually happens with fitted sheets so you could just dry them separately to avoid bunching up.

Don’t buy it! Guaranteed to stop working just after 2 year warranty! Overpriced! – We purchased this machine 2 years ago and it’s already broken. If you’re looking for a machine to waste your money on, this is the one! Averaged to $700 x 2 years ownership. What a bargain! Not! Please avoid purchasing this item. The 2 year ‘wArRaNtY’ is rendered pointless as they’re destined to fail just after this. Even when cared for meticulously. Don’t buy a Fisher and Paykel! No wonder they’re discontinued. Multiple Breakdowns – Bought the appliance expecting a high quality product but it has broken down multiple times in the last 3 years. During warranty period when it stopped drying the clothes. Technician came out and said it was the lint filter. He cleaned it but htis not fix the issue and had to come back a week later. The dryer had to be taken to the workshop and… Read more
they had it for about 2 months before dropping it back. The issue was a gas leak. Now out out of warranty the product was screeching loudly to the point we had to stop using it. Technician came out and said there was a failed drum bearing. He replaced it and charged $280. This hasnt fixed the issue and the dryer still screeches loudly .
$1300 for a dryer that doesn't last 3 years and is barley used. Save your money and buy something with a better build quality.
Don’t waste your money – Worked fantastic for 3 years then stopped due to ‘lint filter needs to be cleaned’. Technician was very professional and fixed it and explained that the product was faulty, but then charged me $200 to fix it. I’m not a person who likes confrontation so I paid it and decided to write this review. Do yourself a favour and buy a $500 dryer. Show details

Like others have said: terrible for sheets – Like others have commented we have found this dryer terrible for drying sheets. One Donna cover takes over 6 hours. As well as the long dry time, and again as many others have commented, sheets get wound into a ball which requires constantly taking them out to reset. I wish I had read the reviews here before purchasing. Definitely do NOT recommend. Show details
$1500 dryer didn't last 2.5 years – Fisher Paykel dryer, bought 2.5years ago, first ever F&P product, had great reviews at the time of purchase. 2.5years later the product has started to make banging noises when drying, as others have mentioned takes forever to dry (knowing it uses a different method of drying) but on numerous days I have spent 6+ hours drying sheets. Have requested $130 service call for a technician to provide their keen assessment on how broken the product is. Show details
Stay far away from it – Doesn’t dry sheets at all - they stay wet and in a tight ball. It doesn’t get clothes properly dry - almost but not quite. Most frustrating appliance I’ve had the displeasure of owning. Show details

Built to fail (3.5 Year review) – I created an account just to write a review to warn others! Bought 3.5 years ago. Generally the unit was fine, once you get to use the quirk of heat-pump dryers not making your clothes super dry like traditional types. We're a small family and used the dryer 3-5 times a week, nothing excessive. Our unit just stopped drying things a month ago,… Read more
no error, no warnings, just no heat (~30deg/c max). The Fisher & Paykel service process is quite good, book a technician through the website and everything goes through their system.
We've had three visits from two technicians, the first two visits he pulled it apart and tested components, not being able to find anything wrong. Both times he left with the unit partially working, but with no idea why it wasn't working properly. The third visit, the guy basically shrugged and told us the only problem could be with the compressor, which was built into the base of the unit and would cost ~$800 to repair (plus shipping). Yeah? Nah.
It may be an issue with heat-pump dryers in general, or this model, but be warned. Expect a short lifespan. Yours may just die randomly too. Others have commented they've had similar problems.
I'm going to buy another brand and make sure I get an extended warranty this time.
Really regret buying this model – The performance was never great. Drying times were super slow, much slower than my old Miele HP dryer. In particular, the sheets were left rolled up in an often damp sausage. Could never get to the bottom of why sometimes they were dry and other times damp. I used the same drying settings each time, they were washed on the same cycle and were at… Read more
the same degree of 'dampness' each time they were placed in the dryer. So, same inputs but different output. But worse ... I purchased it on 15 March 2018 and 4 May 2021 it stopped working, 7 weeks outside the extended warranty period. The error code was E4, which means something in the heating unit has died. It's terminal. Can't be fixed. Dryer now worthless and useless. Not happy. Irritatingly the service call at which I was informed of its terminal status cost me $130, all for what was nothing but 'appliance repair theatre'. It's a known known that E4 means it's unfixable, so why slug me another $130???? BTW, the technician did note the exemplary state of the filters and the rest of the machine. In short, the cause of death was not operator error.
Slow and stopped working properly 1 month after warranty expired! – The Good: Dryer is nice looking and matches the washing machine perfectly. Water is collected in a holding tank meaning the laundry stays nice and dry. Auto Sensor works well The BAD: This is a slow dryer. Takes twice as long as a regular dryer. Clothes never come out hot - warm at best. Apparently the newer model is much better. Also, it is… Read more
impossible to dry sheets properly as they get tangled in a ball and you have to stop and start to untangle.
AND the dryer stopped heating up 1 MONTH after the warranty expires. For a 2 year old expensive machine - this is ridiculous.
Service during warranty period – Have required service twice in warranty period- first time they replaced unit. This second time it will take 37 days for service call- I find that unacceptable and would not have purchased this brand had I known they could not provide service in a timely manner. Show details
Faulty dryer, tangled sheets – Purchasing this dryer was a mistake. The dryer has been assessed 3 times, had the electronic module replaced, the motor, belts, pulleys replaced and now may need the heat pump module replaced, how much needs to be replaced before I get a refund for this faulty and poorly designed product. This is on top of terrible customer service, it has… Read more
taken over 18 months to even get to this point as its almost impossible to have a technician visit and then weeks for replacement parts. Our dryer does not heat properly and will not reverse the tumble on the sheets setting (as useless as that setting was even when it worked), instead the drum gets jammed and sequels like a banshee, no drying anything when someones trying to sleep.
Even when the dryer worked (for the first month) it was terrible, took hours and hours and hours to dry a load, the filters are of poor quality and hard to clean, lets significantly more moisture into the environment than my parents Miele (obviously different price points).
At least it looks pretty...
Long dry times and tangled sheets and 2x warranty repairs – I bought this dryer as I wanted a dryer that was efficient and didn’t put moist air into the environment as I have a small European laundry. I got a slow (2.5 hours for a standard load and 4 hours for towels) dryer, a dryer than won’t dry sheets as they tangle, even on the ‘sheets’ setting which tumbles in reverse for a substantial 5 seconds every… Read more
5 minutes (note this is the only setting in which the tumble is reversed, unlike most other manufacturers which do a 50:50 tumble in each direction for all settings)... not to mention the sheets setting failing twice and requiring two visits under warranty for repairs, the second of which I am still waiting for the new belt and drive motor to be delivered. The condenser fins are difficult to clean and are always clogged as the filters are poor in design, and without them being completely clean the dryer won’t dry at all, I have to vacuum the condenser fins once a fortnight and use a toothbrush once a month to ensure no lint is trapped. My parents Miele heat pump dryer is worlds ahead for not much more of an outlay, wish I’d bought that instead. My advice is to stay away.
Renamed it the “Wetter” – Does not dry. All items go into a ball within 2 minutes as only turns in 1 direction. Says it’s dry but I tell you it isn’t. Water tank light constantly beeps to say its full but not. Worst ever experience and want to throw it out. 18 months old!!! One sheets (balled up) still wet after 4 hours! Show details
Works well except for sheets! – I’ve always loved Fisher and Paykel, had many products and always found the brand to be top quality. I didn’t hesitate to purchase the new heat pump condenser dryer and washing machine when we moved into our new house. I only wish I read the reviews first. The only items I use my dryer for are towels and bed sheets. Towels come out beautiful, soft… Read more
and dry, but sheets I really struggle with. I shouldn’t have to untangle my sheets every 6 minutes because of the tangled ball they end up in. I had a technician out here and he said that unfortunately the machine goes 8 minutes clockwise and only 1 minute anticlockwise, hence the bad tangle situation and nothing can be done about it. So, I’ve purchased a product that does not do what it is supposed to. A ‘sheets’ setting implies it dries sheets. Please Fisher and Paykel don’t make this mistake next time, it’s a very easy fix.
Problems with drying sheets – Problems with drying sheets. It turns into a ball. I have to dry the sheets on the clothes line. This is an expensive dryer. Not happy. Can’t find a solution to dry sheets. Show details

Ordinary Dryer – It drys your clothes just like any other dryer would. One big problem is the sheets setting is useless. Guaranteed to roll your sheets into a compact ball every time. You'll have to remove them, untie them and restart the cycle at least 4 times or they wont dry. Show details
Takes too long to dry and is very hard to clean – This dryer takes to long to dry and is very hard to clean I would not recommend it Please DO NOT get this dryer!! You will be very disappointed in this dryer! Never buying this dryer again Show details
Disappointing. Have always been a F&P fan until now – Disappointing purchase (9kg 2020 model of the heat pump drier). It seems to take ages to dry even a small load, and like another reviewer said the laundry (which is quite big) is saturated by the end from condensing water vapour - I suppose. But my big gripe is the shonky hose arrangement they have in place if you want to empty condensed water… Read more
into the tub. Firstly it is so short it barely reaches (I have drier/washing machine/tub in that order dictated by the plumbing). I think my arrangement would be fairly typical of 2 adjacent appliances and the tub. But worse it just dangles there. You are supposed to attach it to something - I guess tape it down or tie it against the drain pipe from the washing machine - but it looks very amateur untidy and apologetic. You can of course not use the hose and then empty the water collector all the time, but you'd expect better for the money. For something costing as much as it does it really does look like your teenage son tried to conjour up a solution. On top of that there is zero customer service. I tried to register the product on line but that is not available. Nor is chat. they say they have 24/7 service but they don't. If you phone them they refer you to the website which doesn't work. If you go for technical support, available working hours and not 24/7 as stated, the poor person doesn't communicate well in English. I don't blame them - but somebody fluent in English should be taking calls. My product still isn't registered. And I am bitterly unhappy. Haier own most of F&P now and I guess they are not committed to quality or customer service and are probably re-positioning the brand down market as they have publicly stated that they want their brand of appliances to be in the top tier.
WARNING DO NOT BUY – DO NOT BUY!!! Takes over 3 hours to dry small load. Told by staff it will take 1.5 hours to dry ( she has one). Will not dry 8kg at all unless broken into batches. Can only wash 1 bed linen a day and have to be home to monitor the machine. ( thats 3 days out of the week doing the sheets!) Sheets tie in knots have to be removed every 20 minutes to… Read more
untangle. Room is wet while working even though it has the operational collection of water via condensing. Very bad for my severe asthmatic son with the production of mould. Fisher and Paykel always have systems down. I have been loyal to this brand for 25 years. Never again. Harvey Norman can not help us unless there is a fault. This technology is backward who would buy a machine that takes longer to dry, tangles your sheets and wets the room! BUYER BEWARE ALERT. Read reviews on product online before considering
Want to love it but....but broken down four times now – Bought just over three years ago. - 2 years in, the rubber drum support rollers disintegrated apparently due to heat fluctuations. The result was the drum collapsed (as no support) onto the flat spots of the degraded rollers. Turning the drum by hand felt clunky and rough. You WILL know if this happens to you from the noise. repaired this under warranty. - 3 years and 1 months E72 fault code. Communication error between controller and motor. Technician couldn't determine if it was a dead motor PCB or the main PCB. We are now 10 days waiting parts for him to replace both motor and main PCB. - 3 years and 4 months E71 fault code. The code suggests too many clothes and to remove some. The drum was however only half full. I removed most of the clothes as suggested and the code still exists. The recommendation is to call a technician if that doesn't fix the problem.
I have a five year extended warranty on the dryer.
It has saved us heaps on power bills (Est $40 month) as power cost as much as body parts here in New Zealand. I hope I get 10 years out of this dryer to really save as the initial purchase price is twice that of a conventional dryer. If I don't get ten years then I'd recommend just purchase the cheapest, simplest dryer you can find. Keep in mind one enormous pro of heat pump dryers is no water or lint is expelled into your living space thus reducing the chance of mould.
I really want to love this dryer but it is pushing my limits of confidence and after this third breakdown, I have lost all confidence in this machine. Either I have a lemon, or the dryer is simply a poor design.
Sheet setting faulty – Very expensive dryer particularly if it cant dry sheets...., machine always balls up sheets on sheet setting, discovered not rotating in reverse. Great machine but won't dry sheets – This machine is relatively new purchased last Christmas from the good guys. It feels solid and has great controls and features. Easy to use and fast for most things.....but large bed sheets....these are balled up and remain wet. I would have thought they would make sure the machine can do what it's meant to....on sheets setting I think the drum… Read more
only rotates one way. The old machine would stop and reverse direction. Really the machine should be removed from. Sale for being faulty...which is a pity as it has other great savings. Spoke to F&P and they are aware but have no solution. Great pity.
Worst dryer ever! Worst customer service ever! – Do not buy this dryer. I have the clean lint filter, empty water tank and condenser light and alarm going off constantly. Expected better reliability for the price – We purchased this dryer about 3 years ago, attracted by it being far more energy efficient and that it wouldnt create damp issues by condensing the water. The dryer has slowly lost efficiency over the years and takes a lot longer to dry than it did when we first purchased it. a lump despite the auto reversing drum. The load is often dry long before the dryer detects that its dry and I end up turning it off manually.
About 6 months ago we noticed the drum wouldnt always spin when we started it, but by moving it by hand before starting it seemed to get it running. We couldnt use the sheet cycle anymore because it would get stuck and stop spinning when it would try to reverse the spin direction. 2 weeks ago it stopped spinning entirely. Got a repair guy out who discovered the belt to turn the drum was completely shredded.
We had cheap $300 dryers in our old rental before buying this that lasted 5+ years so are hugely disappointed at the reliability. Its usually dried 3-4 loads a week over those 3 years which I dont consider excessive.
If we were going to invest in an appliance like this again, we would only look at brands with longer warranties that stand by their products. Our matching F&P washing machine is making louder noises every time it spins so Im just waiting for that to die to purchase a new washer/dryer pair.
Machine is dead after 2years 8 months since purchase - I luckily opted for paid extended warranty. MODEL - DE8060P2 – Wanted to add my honest review here as i’m now trolling through the product review pages looking at other member’s reviews on condensing heat pump dryer’s as my dryer has now basically died 2 years and 8 months after purchasing it from Harvey Norman Baglowlah (NSW). model of this dryer if there is one like the F&P tech stated or maybe I go for a Teka or Beko the longer warranty periods I like on these two machines and a heat pump and reverse cycle are important too me. I should also mention I have the matching front load washing machine to this dryer and both were purchased at the same time the washing machine has been great and hasn’t had a single issue.
I knew before buying this dryer it had hit and miss reviews thanks to this site !
My negatives with this machine are as follows;
* The reverse tumbling function does not work for sheets at all. My sheets still bunch up into knots and are also left quiet damp in corners or the middle of my sheets which is really annoying !
* The fabric cycles on the machine rarely work and I find if i choose a bulky, delicates etc cycle the dryer items are still damp 95% of the time when the cycle stops. I became accustomed to just running the dryer on a 90min timed cycle and then either restart the cycle once finished for a 30, 60 or 90 min cycle again depending on how damp the load still was after the initial 90 min cycle.. However 95% of the time it needs a second run through to completely dry my clothes off the only time i’ll use a dryer setting is for sheets which in turn still doesn’t work to its entirety
* Because i’m having to use the timed cycle i found it can overheat my clothes and I don’t like putting any elasticated or delicate clothes in the dryer which over a few months of initial use i just opted to use the dryer only for Towels & to lightly dry off clothes that had been on a clothesline. I’ve avoided using this dryer to dry nearly all of my clothes washing other than bedding and towels.
* I had about 5 service calls during the first 2 years of owning this dryer.. After about 3 months of owning the dryer it broke down and wouldn’t turn on and required a major repair and I began to worry that I was going to be one of those people with a dud model. F&P service is great but do you know how frustrating it is to get down this condenser dryer off the top of the washing machine in a Loft Style cupboard laundry onto a clear area on the floor for the service tech each time.. Yes this is a requirement they ask before your service tech comes out as this isn’t apart of his job which is completely understandable but an absolutely pain in the back especially in the last 3 visits over a 6-8 week period having to bring it down / put it back up and so forth. The service visits I've had since owning this dryer was that the bearing were completely worn on the barrel in my dryer after 3 months and again at 1 year and again at 1 year and 8 months. I should also say I only do about 2 loads in my dryer per week so it doesn’t get a beating in any way and this also correlates to the fact I don’t like drying my clothes in it as a) i have to stuff around getting the set cycles to dry my clothes off as it turns on with my clothes still damp in the drum or b) i have to put the set timing of 30-90mins on so i don’t have to stuff around with getting my clothes dry and in which this then over drys and warps my clothes.
At 2 years and 8 months the Fisher & Paykel tech came to repair the dryer twice stating it was bearings once again. My dryer had completely stopped drying it would run for a couple of minutes stone cold and then stop and beep and give out E4.. F&P advised new bearings and another small part would fix this issue.. The dryer was working again and heating after this first repair however it got progressively louder and louder as 2,3,4 weeks went on.. So we had the tech out again and he fiddled around with the bearings and said it needed a couple of runs to get it functioning back to normal and this would fix the noise issue.. Well again it progressively got louder and rickety to the point i would have the laundry doors closed and the machine would completely over power my TV sound it sounded like the machine was a rust bucket about to take off into space. On the third visit he deemed that the drum needed replacing in full and not to use it any further as the new bearings he had put in were worn down and the machine was basically a fire hazarded. To replace the drum it would cost more than the machine itself but advised the newer model of this dryer had ironed out this issue E4 issue and it’s something F&P are aware of with this model. His 3 visits were due to the fact that E4 can be two issues the bearings and small part he replaced which he did is one issue that can fix the problem if it’s not that then the drum needs replacing in full and that’s the only other issue. Product care have been amazing and have offered to end my extended 4 year warranty only 8 months in and pay me out what I paid for the dryer which was $932.05 for the dryer I believe i got a discount/deal as I brought the combo washing machine + dryer or I have the option for them to have F&P replace the drum and the warranty stays as is is for another 3 years and 2 months. I’m now trying to work out what to do I think replace but unsure wether to go with F&P again. I’m also aware Product care no longer offer a 4 year warranty anymore either.
The positives to this machine would be..
* F&P service care are pretty easy to use and there call centre are a breeze to speak too * The drum light is a bonus * The delicates & shoe wrack for drying also a bonus * The drainage hose so you’re not having to empty the condenser water tank continually i find without the hose the water tank needs to be emptied each load as it fills up quickly basically every 1.5 loads * How quiet it is when running the machine (when mine wasn’t having issues / breaking down) * Easy to maintain and excellent in creating no dampness or over hearing like a vented dryer
I also understand that the cycles do take longer than a vented dryer but this must be expected when the dryer is condensing the water in your drying load.
I hope this helps buyer out there as I looked at reviews on this site for this model of dryer before taking the plunge and buying it and it was the main reason I opted for the extended warranty.
I hate it – We use our dryer 5-6 times a week. The controls are easy enough to use I just hate that as soon as you put towels or sheets in it they come out damp.
