am not a fan of overwhelming experiences and too many ideas thrown at me). We chose the Wide Bay 196. A costs schedule was provided each step of the way and he worked to our budget. No surprises or extra add ons. We did not go a cent over which I found impressive. We also managed to have a few changes made to our liking which didnt delay our build/planning process and made the house larger. Management were just as great to deal with and the ladies in the office made you feel welcome and are incredibly approachable. I cannot fault my experience. The whole project from start to finish took 9 months and was completed on time. I would definitely build with the Bacchus Marsh Franchise again in the future. Everyday, I am forced to look at faults and errors in GJ Gardiner Bacchus Marsh construction – Workmanship on our home was terrible in most areas. The painting is terrible. The doors don't close properly, several of the door handles don't operate correctly, some doors don't even fit in the door jams correctly. The carpet has marks and stains on it, the shower holds water, the electrical dimmer switches are cheap and two have already failed… Read more

(within10 months). We waited for two months after we moved in to finally receive keys to all the windows and doors, (the builder said they lost the originals). I could go on and on.

In terms of the management of the build, we were told continuous lies about handover date which was to be in February and ended up being July. Yes 5 MONTHS LATE. We were forced to live in a motel for 10 weeks as a result of this. The site manager changed three times during the course of the build which stretched out considerably. The builder was forced to pay late penalties as required by the contract. Unfortunately the $250 per week did in no way cover the motel costs.

I got sick of the weekly update phone call saying "yeah, we haven't been on site this week but we should be there next week". Even after everything was finished. We had to move out on the first night as the gas was not connected and there was no heating or hot water. We had the painting redone in the whole house because it seemed that the non-english speaking paint crew who arrived in a clapped out Toyota Camry appeared to have never been introduced to a paint brush before. The tiling had to be redone because the floor in the powder room was not level.

Don't be under the misconception that all these things were fixed effortlessly and willingly by the builder. It required numerous emails and phone calls which were ignored repeatedly. (I have the evidence of all this)

The customer service and support has been terrible and unfortunately we got to the point were they wore us down to a level where it was just easier to start fixing things ourselves.

Our house is still not up to standard. I have kept all my email complaints and SMS complaints and responses from the company and I am happy to share these with anyone who is thinking of using GJ Gardiner Bacchus Marsh to build there home. In fact, if you are doubtful about what is written in this review, and you are seriously considering using this mob, I invite you to come to my house and see for yourself the GJ Gardiner standard. If you like what you see or you think the workmanship is of a good standard, then good luck to you.

Being in sales ourselves, it’s fantastic to experience what great customer service is like and being treated like a human not a number. So refreshing.

With Dave it’s the little garnishes that make all the difference, with an eagles eye and the simple fact that he makes it fun without deviating from the true purpose. Just a top bloke, thanks mate!

When it comes to the normally perceived boring but vitally important admin aspects, Caitlin our colour consultant is like having a relaxing cup of tea, just nice and calm, though unassumingly reassuring. Don’t know how she does it, being as busy as she is, nevertheless she delivers every time and like Dave has put up with many of our indecisions. Thanks Caitlin.

We feel we can ask the crew at GJ Gardner anything anytime and not feel boxed in, it is our dream after all and we want to achieve an outcome we absolutely love without compromise.

Hence to say that with GJ Gardner, we now know that we won’t end up with a “cookie cutter design” but instead a unique place that reflects our personal tastes, practical requirements and lifestyle, a place we can truly call our home.

The great thing is that GJ Gardner let us modify the floorplan to achieve what we needed and wanted but couldn’t anywhere else, without the hassle of going down the owner builder route and we achieved it within our budget.

It's basically our own custom floorpan which originated from one of GJ Gardners massive range of already available floorplans.

We are so grateful for them allowing us to do what others wouldn't and this is a massive point of difference.

To be able to meet our builder Ben and have his professional input and guidance is also fantastic and invaluable, which made us feel really involved and of great consideration to the value of the business. You just don’t get that from the volume builders, no matter what.
