After being let down by a large high volume builder who promised certain things within certain time limits. These issues were dealt with in an honourable manner and we never had to fight or negotiate to achieve a desirable outcome, they offered solutions which were advantageous to us.

Our project manager was prompt in response to questions, approachable, honest and professional, he was always on our side in relation to any questions or changes we had along the way, a large portion of the success of the build was thanks to him.

The team at GJ Gardener were a pleasure to deal with and genuinely wanted to get the best outcome for us. The contract was easy to read and understand and the prices were fixed with no hidden costs at all during the build.

The quality of the build was very good and the finish was excellent. Post build our project manager has been in touch regularly to check-in and address any issues that have arose (again minor).

They went above and beyond to ensure the whole process was as stress free and enjoyable as a house build can be.

We cannot be more thankful that we chose GJ Gardner Shepparton.

Efficient and quality build by a reliable company – We built with G.J. Gardner Shepparton in 2022/2023. Consistency: Our building supervisor was with us through the entire build, and made themselves available to answer any questions and or provide timely updates. The team were also more than happy to help make minor adjustments to the build as we went (e.g., adding extra noggin support for TVs, adding extra power points etc.). Having a smaller team means having more consistency through the build, and to an extent, more certainty. Less turnover helped us build a solid relationship with the staff at G.J. and know who to call, and when to call them.

Pragmatism: The design team helped us through the practicalities of living in our house, including moving the fridge nook from one side of the kitchen to the other, to allow for a double-doored fridge/freezer installation - this was called out early, and probably something we would have missed.

Efficiency and timeliness: Despite slight delays with the brickwork (COVID-19 backlog), our house was fully built and settled within approx. 9 months (including the Xmas break), and we were the first to settle in our area. Many other builders in the area have taken in excess of 12 months, and construction is still not complete.

Support: The team were there to remedy any small defects, of which there were only very few. The owners of G.J. Shepparton always made themselves available during and post build. We have a solid house, and if we have any questions we know the team will be responsive and help us with any queries, even recommending a local, quality blind / curtain installer.

Cost: Build costs may be slightly more expensive than the mass builders, but G.J.'s quality is something they pride themselves on. Also, G.J. are up-front and transparent about TOTAL cost, so you know what you are paying at the onset. There are no additional extras, or if there are they are for major and or bespoke modifications, and are communicated well in advance, to allow customers to make informed decisions. G.J. include in their cost extras that are not usually considered during a build, such as temporary fencing. Final cost will always equal estimated cost as long as there are no customer delays or no unforeseen or significant variations to plan. If there are variations they are quoted up front allowing for informed and timely customer decisions to be made. G.J. could improve by providing a more transparent breakdown of materials and labour for major elements, such as painting, flooring, tiling (labour and materials etc.). Some elements were there, but, for those who are extra cost conscious, you will need to be proactive and ask about variations / modifications that could reduce your overall cost, as they are not explicitly laid out.

Quality: Finishing was great. There were very few remedial items, and these were remedied in a timely manner. Regular scheduled (and also by request) inspections helped us understand the build as it happened, and make small adjustments if / where required.

Simple process from start to finish. Chris, Sharri, Tim and the team were flexible and made great suggestions throughout the build which made a huge difference in multiple rooms. Recommend very highly! Show details ·  1

Lovely, knowledgeable, flexible staff and house designs and finishes that are more high end - yet reasonably priced – We had a brilliant experience with GJ Gardiner. great advice as we progressed plans and selections. Our final quote was reasonable considering the high quality finishes and plans that were considerably more 'architectural' than any volume builder. We also loved that GJ Gardiner were so accomodating and were also willing for us to supply some items outside their usual selection. We would certainly consider building with GJ Gardiner if we were in a position to build in the future.

All our nerves and apprehension were quickly overcome by our builders and their team with regular meetings, updates, phonecalls and constant action and before we knew it the keys were handed to us, all within 6 months of slab being laid.
