Personally I won’t use it at school or what might be considered a commercial building. I won’t be surprised if warranty card for such product insists it is used at home only and it needs to be monitored even.

Given the price I don’t think you can expect much in terms of repair. I would suggest taking it back to the shop to return and see what they say. After all, this is a KMart only brand.

it's hard to seperate the lid and base to add more water, so some people just pour it through the top but it wets the wires and causes it to malfunction

I had the same issue and had tried to turn it on several times. Wiped my finger over the gold sensor in the water and it worked straight away! Will see how long it lasts...

This should only happen when it doesn’t have enough water. That’s water not covering the top of the metal sensor. So I think it’s malfunctioning and needs repair.

It sounds faulty. I turned mine on and it worked right away. I would take it back. Kmart are pretty good with returns.
