Any issues that cropped up along the way were resolved professionally - Billy and the team were always happy to talk through any concerns. There were no nasty surprises in terms of cost - we were well briefed every step of the way in this respect and given many options when it came to pricing products and materials. The journey was just so easy! The team were fantastic to work with. Nothing was too much trouble and there was absolutely no compromise on quality and integrity even to the point that my roof panels had to be carried by hand up a steep winding road as the delivery truck couldn’t negotiate the bends. The materials used are all top quality and the tradies were so professional and their workmanship excellent (and they were really nice people too!). of detail throughout our own home is higher than most. The paintwork is perfect, the quality of fixtures and appliances are fantastic (although Id likely trade up on the exhaust fan in the kitchen but thats quite a small thing), the grout work in the bathroom is neat & tidy, and all corners/doorways align perfectly (no doors catching or not-closing properly) - a bit of a feat considering we are a 'pole' home.

Darren Phillips and his team were always within contact and happy to answer our queries and concerns. Billy & Matt who oversaw the build directly were always happy to help with any questions and very professional. The expected time frame of the build that we were told at the outset was met on time.

We had a signed fixed-price contract that was adhered to so we were not out of pocket more than expected which was a huge relief. It was nice to know that we were dealing with an honest company as there was a stage where we were due a refund and they nicely brought that to our attention first.

All in all we would be very happy to build with Hotondo Homes Batemans Bay again and hope to soon! Thanks guys!

However, we soon found that they were open to our suggestions and able to interpret our requests and to respond to them with their experienced recommendations. [names removed] came up with a plan that made the most of the fabulous views whilst juggling the restrictions of a small and narrow block of land. Despite our concerns of the restrictive dimensions they weren't fazed at all, and even seemed to be inspired to create a design that met our expectations.

When the selection process was underway [name removed], guided us through the maze of colours, floor finishes, appliances, taps, handles and more with enthusiasm. She was able to advise on current trends and sent us samples, links to websites and photos of products she believed would suit our budget and needs of a rental property.

Even when a totally unexpected issue arose, due to a third party, affecting our ability to proceed with building, [name removed] went out of his way to help sort it out, way beyond what should have been his concern. Now that we have moved down to the area, we are completely happy with the finished house and have contracted [name removed] to build our own dream home. Knowing their professionalism and build quality we are confident that he will be able to interpret our dreams and convert them into reality to produce a home that we will love.

from our first meeting with [names removed] feeling we had found a competent, professional and, above all, honest, builder, and also with contact details of quite a few previous clients supplied without me even having to ask for them. I rang 5 people on the list and received nothing but glowing reports, so we now felt much more comfortable in going ahead.

We started with one of the standard Hotondo designs, but made lots of changes to it, including swapping the ground floor and first floor. Nothing was too much trouble for [names removed]. [name removed] was able to give us cost estimates for each of our proposed changes so we knew exactly what the cost implications were in making our decisions before signing the final build contract. Once we had signed the contract, [name removed] spent days with us carting us around all the places we needed to visit to choose bathroom fittings, tiles, light fittings, etc, etc. It was all done so efficiently that two weeks later we got worried that it had all happened too easily so my wife and I went back to all those places just to re-check our selections just to be sure. It turned out that we didn't change anything.

The building process went like a dream. [name removed] had made an allowance in the cost for some engineering work which turned out not to be necessary so at our first meeting after the start of work [name removed] advised of a significant reduction to the contract price. How good is that! He could have said nothing and I would have been none the wiser, but he really is honest. A few times during the building process he made suggestions that he thought would make the house better even though it would add a bit to the cost, but did not put us under pressure to agree. As it turned out, we did agree and will be eternally grateful to [name removed] that he did make the suggestions as they have made all the difference to the house (as the saying goes: "quality is remembered long after price is forgotten").

The house they handed over to us was (and still is) perfect, and in fact won the South Coast Project Home of the Year award in the HIA awards for 2009/10. [names removed]'s follow-up after handover has been exemplary (not that there has been anything much to follow-up about). We have been living in the house now for a bit over 4 years and are still in love with it. I can thoroughly recommend [names removed] at Hotondo Homes in Batemans Bay.
