time and in the first six months or so we challenged the team to find us a plot of land appropriate for our wishes within a tight and competitive local market.
We moved to QLD and the Hotondo team immediately took us out to three plots they had identified, highly recommending one of them to us. Once the vision for the build was explained to us we committed to the purchase of the land and then got cracking on the design of the property. Throughout this phase, the team were extremely professional, but most important to us, never lost sight of what we wanted to finish with. Their New Homes Specialist was particularly flexible and understanding and gave us every opportunity to change and alter designs until we settled upon the final version - this was potentially a stressful experience, but turned out to be quite exciting and enjoyable.
Once in contract we enjoyed the security of fixed price and fixed schedule. This allowed us to time the sale of our previous property almost to the minute and once we got that moving it was incredibly beneficial for us that the Hotondo team actually completed the build a week early so we could move in and then clear out the sold property that weekend. Throughout the build we were kept fully involved and through several sight visits we were able to envisage the development of the house and allowed the convenience of making alterations as we progressed.
We have ended up with a truly wonderful house, finished to amazing high standards with quality workmanship and fittings as we requested throughout. We have no hesitation recommending this wonderful local builder to anyone and it is a true statement for us to say it was our absolute pleasure to be considered a part of this family and the family business.

construction and timeless character. Our old girl had beautiful high ceilings and wonderful bones but needed modernizing to get her fit for the future. She was thoughtfully stripped back to the frame and rebuilt top to bottom to stand proudly for another century. The build was extensive, including completely new internal and external cladding, plumbing, electrical, heating and cooling, full insulation, new bathrooms, an open-plan kitchen, and the addition of a double garage, laundry, wine cellar, rear living area extension, and a covered wrap-around veranda.
Throughout the build, Jacaranda House attracted significant interest from locals and other builders and contractors, all keen to see how Adam and his team would handle such a challenging and unique renovation. Since completion, we continue to receive daily compliments from people admiring the quality of the build and the care taken to preserve and enhance the heritage details of the home.

We approached Hotondo on a recommendation from a friend after speaking with a number of different builders. make the plans come to life but to do it within our set budget. So far our search had made us start to think it was unachievable. But then we met Steve and Shay from Hotondo Homes who turned this around. We were pleasantly surprised as we thought they would just be a pick a plan kind of deal. Straight away they were positive about what they could achieve with our plans but were realistic at the same time. They spent time reviewing our plans with us and looking for ways to bring our vision to life even coming up with a few out of the box ideas. Before the contracts were even close to being done up, we were able to have the proper engineering completed, choose all our materials, fixtures and cabinetry, so the quote we got was for the finished home without the risk of variations - a true fixed price contract. It took a bit of extra time at the start but it was completely worth it. This was exactly what we needed as we were not in a position to start building and then have to fork out another $10-15k on variations. People still don't believe us when we say that there were no provisional cost amounts in our contract, not even the banks believed us, but this was the difference with choosing Hotondo. For our build, there were no variations from our contract to our final build price which is almost unheard of, but thats how they do it. Now to our home. We absolutely LOVE it. One of the most common comments we get from our friends and family is 'It's very YOU'! We love hearing this and it just shows to us that Steve and Shay were committed to bringing out our vision for this home. They constantly went out of their way to bring new ideas to the table and to source products that would suit the look and feel we were going for. As far as quality goes, we have had many friends who are tradies that can't help themselves but have a sticky beak at the workmanship and they have all had nothing but praise to give. We get so many compliments on some of the finer finishing details which is a reflection of Steve's commitment to building quality homes. We still pinch ourselves every day that we get to live in such a beautiful home and we can't thank Steve, Shay and the Hotondo Homes team enough! Thanks again guys!

phase was well executed and delivery of our investment house was on time (early) and within budget with no hidden extras. Shay controlled and communicated the whole process which made it very smooth and easy for us which is what we had requested. We have been impressed with the quality of the build and have had no issue raised since our tenants moved in. spoke with Shay, we could see that it was more than a possibility. • Our special/mobility needs, plus the fact that the land is situated in an older area of Toowoomba, required extra planning and lots of discussion re the land site and house plans, which we designed and adapted quite extensively during the planning process. Steve was willing to accommodate these adjustments and worked with a Town Planner to ensure the house plans were acceptable when first submitted to Council. • The planning process prior to signing the formal contract with Steve/Toowoomba Hotondo Homes was a lengthy and sometimes arduous process, but well worthwhile as construction was able to continually proceed without the need for constant consultation or major adjustments/fixes. This was helpful for us as we lived in Brisbane, 140kms from Toowoomba. • Once construction began, receiving weekly reports with accompanying photos was much appreciated, and so too were the designated ‘walk through’ appointments during which Steve and his team ensured the site was wheelchair accessible. They were also willing to discuss/make any changes that would better suit our mobility needs. • We are delighted with the finished product, which was completed a month ahead of the scheduled date. • In the past 12 months since completion of the build, after-care by Steve and his team has been exceptional. Nothing has been too small or too difficult to be attended to. In fact, the team are a great bunch who all appear very pleased to work for Steve/Hotondo Homes Toowoomba • It is not surprising that the neighbourhood are as pleased with the end result as we are, and that Toowoomba Hotondo Homes was awarded the Darling Downs and Queensland 2018 Master Builders Lifestyle Housing for High Care Needs, Disabled and Seniors Award. The team were beyond wonderful throughout and the stress of building a new home was out the window and we were able to focus on our new bundle of joy. To our surprise our baby arrived a month early but even better our home arrived THREE MONTHS EARLY! We honestly could not have asked for a better local builder and team.
