Grove Hotondo, we were confident of receiving a first class quality home build again. Our supervisor lachlan's experience and communication with us was spot on. first contact with Richard Barton that he was knowledgeable about the homes and he was extremely helpful. He didn't try and rush our decision, but was happy to answer any questions, no matter how trivial. When we had decided to go ahead with Hontondo, Richard and all the staff were extremely helpful. Our build was delayed due to the land title being delayed, but no one at Hondondo harassed us during this hold up, they were most understanding. During the build our site supervisor Colby was always happy to talk to us and kept in contact throughout the whole process. The team at Hontondo were fantastic with weekly updates and always helped us no matter how trivial our questions. We are extremely happy with our Hontondo home, we have been living in it for over four months and everyday we delight in the comfort and style of our home. The quality of workmanship is excellent and we have found no evidence of lack of attention to detail or corner cutting. We are a retired couple and have never built previously, we were apprehensive before we started the process as one hears so many horror stories. The selection process was completed for us by Ashley in her own time on a Sunday just to accommodate our time difficulties and the company surveyor spoke to me personally and assisted to resolve some issues. We unfortunately lost our supervisor Wes early who had already done a great job and he was replaced by Colby who did the remaining 80% with Craig doing a great job on our kitchen at the end. This group of people are simply outstanding. The process of selecting colours, getting to contract and making small changes before signing meant that we all knew what to expect with the build. Drawings were produced and we began to visualise the end product. Our house began construction in April this year and we have been in our home for just over three weeks now - we couldn't be happier! Our site supervisors (Matt & Wes), kept on top of everything, maintained regular contact and answered every question we had with speed and efficiency. The whole process was surprisingly stress free, easy and enjoyable. If we ever decide to experience house building again we would jump at using Geelong Building Solutions and would highly recommend these guys to any of our friends and/or colleagues.

Substandard tradesmen – Plumbing in wrong places in the slab (e.g.toilet and shower plumbing in hallway), brickwork not to Aus Building Standards (should have been replaced but we agreed to partial replacement and cement rendering of the front), concrete floor in garage delaminating (after 12 months it has now been repaired and coated but this now seems to be coming off). Solutions. Franchisee at Ocean Grove. You will soon realize that Customer Care is no help. They will speak with you, send emails etc, but do absolutely nothing. If in reading this review you want more details on how badly Hotondo managed our build please contact me by sending private message. And if you have unfortunately signed up employ an independent building inspector. For a very small cost the inspector will make 3 visits. At frame stage, lock up and final handover. And speaking of handover, do not handover any money as progress payment until that stage is completed to your satisfaction. We have paid in full and have the keys and are finding defects every day. I will update this review if rectifications are done, however, do not build with Geelong Building Solutions or Hotondo Ocean Grove.

we have always found [name removed] to be pleasant and willing to help wherever needed, often doing more than what was required from him. He has answered every email and phone call and is always available to assist and address our enquiries.

The process to get where we are has been made easier having a smaller company to build through than using a bulk builder. Although we had the option to use one of the many Hotondo Home Designs we also had the option to customise our home to suit our needs . These options were not available with some of the bigger companies. Our block has a slope and while other companies wouldn't touch a sloping block we found Hotondo embraced the challenge and helped us to design a home that would utilise the slope of the land and also make the most of a beautiful view over the bay. These elements were as important to Hotondo as they were to us. They really listened to what we were trying to achieve. This is where Hotondo stood out from other builders for us. We spent a long time in the design phase getting our plans perfect and now we have commenced building.

We have been very happy with the construction phase so far of our new home with Hotondo and this has largely been due to the association we have had with our consultant. This friendly association has resulted in the process of building feel more personal that it may have been otherwise.... We are building next to our own home and are amazed at how unobtrusive the tradesmen have been. They arrive on site early and work hard all day. The only time we hear them is when they are returning the cups from the the coffee we make them in the mornings! Even then they bring them to the front door and are lovely to deal with.

We still like to visit display homes to get ideas and every time we walk out feeling all the better knowing we are building with our local builder and getting the personal service we are getting for a very reasonable price. We look forward to moving into our new home on completion and having [names removed] over to celebrate.
