Damaging and cheaply made – Tried it once and all I ended up with was frizz.. I think I was posted a used one from the company I bought it from too, it had scratches on the surface and what looked like dirt in it, packaging was a mess - never again - throwing it out waste of money I’m not even going to try and return it Show details
Wears Out Too Quickly – I love the way I can use it when it is knew. Bought the first one off HSN before they were readily available and it lasted 2 years. The motor quick and barrell stopped rotating. I was happy with that. Bought a replacement and the motor stopped working in 7 months. I have thin bob link hair!vToo expensive to keep replacing but I see they discontinued the one I had. Afraid to try new line
Rubish. It just burnt my hair – I filed a claim with paypal after they wouldnt honor the return 3 days after i received it. Rubish. It just burnt my hair. Paypal wouldnt do anything about it.
Horrible product but worse customer service – I had issues with ordering with a code - they could not process without an order number, but then once the order was placed they could not change anything. It took MUCH longer than stated to arrive. Upon arrival, I attempted to use. I tried numerous times, various settings, wet, dry, with no success, in fact worse frizzes than usual. I finally… Read more
decided that I needed to just return it - I was advised that my request was outside their 10 day return policy so I could not return. FYI - NO paperwork came with my product hence I was never advised of such a rigid return time.
Love it – I really love this instyler and was worth the money. Only thing I dislike is the noise when the iron rotates but I can live with that because results are great.
Piece of GARBAGE!!! – First off it’s cheaply made! Secondly it does not work correctly and not does it do what it claims to be capable of!! Also this company is unwilling to refund even if customers are unhappy or mislead with purchase. Therefore, I will NEVER purchase from this company again and highly recommend no one else does.
Stay away – Piece of junk!! Cheaply made and doesn’t work as shown in the add. I emailed to ask how I can return it and they don’t honor refunds. They should advertise they allow refunds.
Horrible product Horrible company – I waited 6 weeks for a product I can’t use because I can’t plug it in. I emailed....can’t call because supposedly they don’t have a phone number. I emailed asking for a refund. They don’t give refunds unless the product is defected or damaged. If I can’t use it that is a definition of damaged! I paid good money for this piece of junk! I’m not even sure that real human beings work for this company!
It worked the first 2 weeks and then ever since i kept using it, it wouldnt do the job quickly – I am not happy with the product because it was expensive and I didnt get something good for what I paid for. It is easy to use and it sometimes snags on the hair. It takes long to heat up.
Cant live without it!! – My polynesian hair is long, thick and bushy. With heat protector, finishing with sleek and shine serum, and nourishing oil once a week the instyler straightens, smooths and polishes to silky texture. So easy and no real need to section properly, just bottom layer and each side of top layer, use like a brush for all over touch up, add volume and… Read more
sort out roots, then roll, hold and release for loose curls and done, 10 minutes max and holds for days without hairspray. With practice and care you CAN achieve ghd/cloud result for less than half the price!
This model is discontinued but would definetly recommend newer Instyler Max model and future models if any.
(Please dont ever give up on rotating iron concept, seems so much kinder to hair shafts than flat irons)
TIP: SLEEP ON A SILK PILLOWCASE!
Love it – I absolutely love this hair straighteners oh my gosh does exactly what they said on tv it so easy to use even a monkey could use it doesn't tangle your hair actually brushes your hair for you. Love it
Not really goos – I bought it when it first released to the market. It's quite hot and you do need to be very careful not burning yourself which I did a few times. It heat up fast and easy to use but I found the end result is not really great. It made my hair fuzzy and didn't straight or curl that well. Normal hot iron will gives you a better result.
Eh – Yes and no. It is fairly easy to use, but must always ALWAYS have tangle free hair or it'll rip it out. Only when tangled yes hahaha. It heats up fairly fast, like about 2 minutes or less so it's good with that.

Thought it was the knees bees – When these first came out I couldn't wait to get one as I was Having trouble with my other straightner, for the first few months worked great I loved the way I could curl my hair under slightly and give more volume as well. Then I noticed my ends starting to frizz and really dry out, but I thought it was my color in my hair making it dry but I was… Read more
also getting a burn smell and on top of my head I got a lot of fly wires happening.. Also I burnt my ears quite a few times as well as my forehead doing the fringe.. I think I"ll go back to a MUK straightner..
Disgusting. Ruined my hair!! – Went to use and it completely fried the ends of my hair. Tried another section and AGAIN fried the crap out of my hair. I've tried both on damp and dry hair. I'm a hairstylist of 8 years and in my professional opinion this 'tool' is the biggest waste of money. Am always keen to try new hair styling techniques but this is an absolute joke.
I love this product - Quick heat up time and a Sleek Smooth Result! – Excellent Product. Excellent result. Sadly has been discontinued but has been replace with the In-Styler Max (should be similar and probably some added features & improvements. I have slightly longer than shoulder length hair coarse, curly & frizzy - especially when humid. Easy to use once you get the hang of it - like most things. (easier to… Read more
do at home than a flat iron)
So much quicker than a blow dry and way better result.
Don't use huge sections of hair as you won't get the best result. A sectioning comb came with my original In-Styler, which gives you the perfect amount of hair.
Yes, you can burn yourself, but with some thought and logic, you work it out as you go along.
I can do my hair in five to 8 minutes.
If I had one minor complaint, it would be the brush brittles; could have been "stiffer" for my hair type; but really it doesn't affect the end result at all.
I do recommend this product.
Don't waste your money! Rubbish products from this brand – Rubbish product and brand, i'm a hairdresser and have tried a few of their products and have found them very damaging to the hair. Does not deliver the curl they state it will give. Don't waste your money!
Extremely dangerous – This product extremely dangerous. Followed advice from video stating guard not really necessary. Have used many products over the years and modelled for hairdresser, this should not be on the market. Bad burn on forehead when on lowest heat..Priceline Chemist where purchased advised contact your Company.
Smooth hair after 60 years – Easy to use. Heats fast (I use middle heat setting). Brush my hair first and then use Instyler on short sections. My hair is shoulder length and frizzy. Doesn't dry out with product used to protect and stays smooth pretty much until the next wash. I don't use more than once a week.
Awful – Not happy at all. I have long hair but not overly thick- it did not work as promised. I spent forever trying to achieve curls. I gave it a few days of consistent trying before I gave up and put it back in the box. Kept snagging my hair and really didn't curl or straighten my hair with ease. Invest in a good set of straighteners to curl instead.
Ecstatic – My husband bought me one yesterday and I am over the moon. At last after all these years and they are many with curly, wiry, unruly hair I can have smooth straight hair or smooth lovely curly contours. I wish mine had only cost $129 like someone else on here but he paid $149 from Big W. Nevertheless as stated... am over the moon and so pleased with the product.
Oh why did I buy this! – I have literally used my instyler twice before putting it back in it's box & now I'm not even able to give it away. I've never used a styling tool that does so much damage to my hair. I would expect that with overuse and inadequate pairing of heat protection products that the instyler could permanently damage & cause breakage but my hair became… Read more
significantly damaged straight away. I would not recommend the instyler for use on hair that is not incredibly thick, course, never chemically treated and could afford to suffer the damage. If your hair is not, the instyler could ruin your hair. The very design and intended operation means applying a large section of direct heat for a longer period of time than you would a straighening iron. I found that I needed to go over a section repeatedly to achieve what a straightening iron could achieve in a single sweep through the hair. Although the instyler does come with a small heat resistant mat (as the only way to put it down while in operation connects the heated barrel to a surface) it's dangerous to operate and would require practice to use without risk of burns.

Love Love Love it. Fantastic! – Got mine first time I tried it, I thought it was rubbish but used it a few times and love it. Hair in great condition, ghds burn my hair and leave it all dry never go back. Great shine and volume fab.
Would Never Purchase This Again – I have been using this product for many years and it was ok and done the job. Though I noticed it does not last very long and I was going through many of them. I went through 2 in a year and again they break and shut down. I went back to my old hair straightener and it was much better. I think the rotator is the problem and when used many times… Read more
it will eventually cease . Can't beat the simple hair straighteners. I would not recommend this product as it is a waste of money.
Love it – I have a muster and a ghd hair straightener, just brought an instyler, Instyler does work well, but fined with my thick hair it takes me a few goes to get it straight :)
It's OK, Not Happy With Instructions – I got one of this for Christmas, it does dry your hair out quite a bit and hard to achieve any type of curls. The worst thing about it I put it down on the mat provided on the floor and when I removed it the carpet was burnt even though I used the heat proof mat provided. I complained about this and was told that it said on the instruction to put… Read more
it down only on hard surface, but I could not find anything about it. When they returned the In Styler to me after they inspected it, out of the box came out a very small piece of paper folded that said to put it down on heat proof surface, strange as I hadn't noticed it before anyhow it should be clearer, because it could have burned down a lot more than my carpet if left on.
It's alright – The InStyler is a very effective straightening iron and curler. I have thick long frizzy hair and with my old Remington iron it took me 1.5 to 2 hours to straighten my hIr properly. The InStyler takes 40mins tops. Well that was when it was new. I have had it for six months and it is leaving my hair frizzy, and it is frying it! I was good while it lasted.
Use it correctly and it's magic! – I have naturally thick, coarse, curly hair so I purchased the 32mm barrel wet to dry model. I did my research online and to be honest was a bit dubious because of the bad reviews and the fact my hair is nothing like what I was seeing in the videos. NOTE: nowhere on the instructions, or even reviews of this product say to make sure the barrel is… Read more
rotating WITH the direction of your hair, rather than against the natural grain of your hair. Even in the official instyler videos they were doing it wrong to "add volume".. This will definitely damage your hair. I imagine that is why this product is getting negative reviews about frizz and damage, people aren't using it right.
The first time I tried it, my hair was towel dried and I must say I was amazed. Of course it didn't dry straight away, I had to go over each section 3 times (instructions say once to dry and once to style, but I am a perfectionist so added a third stroke).
When I tried this product on my dry hair, one stroke was enough, and 15mins was enough to straighten my whole head, which is a great change from the 45mins to an hour it would usually take.
This is definitely going to be my only tool for a long time. Quick, no damage, any style I want. To be honest, this product was so easy to use and my expectations were definitely exceeded.
Love it – I love it.. The best in the market.. However pricey.. It strengthens the hair quite fast.. But I need to add I do have quite straight hair.
It's a very handy tool – practice. You can straighten your hair as it says and the shape of the barrel gives you a nice farrah Fawcett flick at the sides too. Read the instructions..cos amazingly enough it does help. My hair curls easy but is fine so can go flat..still does but if I add some hairspray it stays in place for the morning or evening. People usually comment how nice my hair looks. I'm quite happy with mine and when it claps out I will replace with the same.
Best curler out there! – I just found this review site so I thought I'd leave reviews for my favourite products. I'm so shocked and confused coming on here and seeing all of these bad reviews on the Instyler! Clearly half of these people aren't doing it right. There's heap of ways to protect your hair from burning. Use a heat defense spray or put it on the lowest heat… Read more
setting and don't leave it on your hair for too long. I absolutely LOVE my Instyler! I cant live without it & won't leave the house unless my hair is curled :) I've been using the 32 mm barrel for about 3 years now and it has got to be my favourite thing ever! I always bought curlers that wouldn't heat up that well and wouldn't curl properly and the curls would drop so fast even with the strongest hairspray, but with the Instyler, I don't know what it is but there's something amazing about it that it just leaves the most perfect natural looking curls in my hair. I never used to get complements on my hair or anything really but using this (I don't want to sound up myself because I'm really not), every time I go out, anywhere, at least 1 person will complement my hair! It has given me so much confidence and I'm the type of girl that hates herself. I have 0 confidence but I feel so nice when I'm out and people are telling me how gorgeous my hair is and asking me how I do such amazing curls!
I also think its great at straightening but i don't think it suits me so I literally have my hair curled like every day :D but not those gross ringlet curls. There's only 1 downside that I have found. and its not really the Instylers fault but every time I have friends over and we're going out, I'm the one stuck doing their hair! I'm not even kidding. Every single friend (friends that haven't even met each other too) makes me curl their hair. One of them even loves it so much she wants me to do it for her wedding! I don't mind doing their hair but it sucks that I have to do it before I can even get ready and it takes a while with thick hair. For some reason I have noticed some of them don't know how to curl it themselves (which i cant work out because you just hold it and wrap your hair around it!? I don't remember if I was like that at first but it comes with an instruction DVD that shows you how to use it) but they all love it and its never damaged any of our hairs and i have it on the highest heat (which i probably should with mine since its so chemically damaged from bleaching it all the time).
Oh one time my Instyler did blow up and some grey smoke came out of it but i bought it 2nd hand (but still new) on eBay so I didn't have a warranty but I've been using my other one for almost 2 years and its still going strong :) when it dies eventually, I'll be buying another! No other product compares or is worth the money!
Can live without it – I bought this product thinking it would "do as the ad said it would" to only be disappointed. It turned my hair into an absolute mess, so frizzy. It's really loud when using which was annoying as I couldn't use it in the morning without waking the whole household up. Wouldn't recommend this to my friends
