Kmart 12L Convection Oven Questions & Answers
VerifiedI lost my manual for my new 12 litre convection oven. Looking for cooking times for chicken wings or drumsticks. The light goes on and off every 10 seconds.
My anko oven from kmart is making sounds while it is running. The sound is like the dragging of something heavy. It comes from the base of the plate. What could be the issue. Bought it a few months back.

Fiddle with the cord where connected to the oven. The connection is always loose, or return to shop if less than 12 months. If it still won’t work and warranty expired, then tell yourself you’ve had 12 months use and thats all you’re going to get for that amount of money.
I posted 2 days ago about my 12L convection oven switching on and all the time. See Below. I just went to KMart and swapped it for a new one and it is doing exactly the same thing. I am absolutely sure it is not supposed to do that. On for 10 seconds and off 20 to 30 seconds is not going to get anything cooked. Bad batch of ovens? Any more thoughts?
Just because the light isn’t on does not mean it’s not cooking. The light on mine frequently goes on and off but it is still cooking. My oven always stops working completely at about 13 months. Just after warranty expires.
I have previously had 2 of these types of ovens and they stay on until they reach the desired temperature. Then they cycle on and off to maintain that temperature. Basically like all other ovens, fridges, heaters and air-conditioners etc.
If it's not heating the food, then it's faulty. With that said, we had one that the bottom half literally exploded. It was like a small grenade going off - glass all over my kitchen! Thank GOD my son had left the kitchen when it happened. While I haven't heard of other instances like this for THIS particular appliance, I have heard of other Anko rectangular types having the glass explode. I would never recommend

Just bought the Anko air oven. The thermostat switches the element on and off from the moment I turn on the oven. I have put an oven thermometer in the bowl and the oven has not reached anywhere near the set temperature before it switches on and off. This is the 3rd oven of this type that I have owned dating back almost 20 years and the previous 2 have not exhibited this behaviour.
Hi there, we're really sorry to hear that this is happening to the Convention Oven you have purchased. It's certainly not what we'd expect and we appreciate you letting us know. You can return a faulty item in-store with a receipt for a refund, or without one for an exchange/store credit.
Thank you for the fast reply.
You're game, using this thing!! Ours exploded - literally! Fortunately, my son had JUST left the kitchen/ You could not pay us to use another one!
Why is the internal light keeps turning on and off every 5 second s
Hi Lucimara, thanks for the feedback. Your product may be faulty but its best if you check the instruction manual if this issue is still on going. Please do take it back to any of our stores for a replacement if the item is within our 1-year warranty.
The light IS the heating element. The thermostat turns on and off by design. if it didn't your food would burn.
Good on you iduguid2! You seem to be the only intelligent person on this website! There are so many brainless people here that I am getting out before I catch the disease! Have a good day.
Heat element broken on anko co906. Where can I buy new element
Hi Chris, thanks for getting in touch and sorry to hear about the broken part. We do not sell spare parts, but please reach out to your local store to discuss an exchange/refund.
Hi there. My Anko is still sitting in its box after reading most of these reviews, pending decision to return before even bothering to use. The answer to this question will make my mind up to try. Yes, I read manuals first and note that it says silicone bakeware and oven bags cannot be used. On asking Google the answers are a resounding yes, but not specifically for this oven are those answers given. My friends have a Delicook and use oven bags as do other friends who own different brands of same functioning ovens. Obviously silicone bakeware would need to be placed on trays or in a round tin or suchlike for a cake, but does this affect cooking? It would be great if you could also direct me to somewhere to purchase recipe books for this particular oven. Many thanks - June
I also want to know this.i bought some silicone Cookware to use inside it.do you put a china/metal dish down first.not enough info in manual.
I've dropped the lid to my oven and smashed the glass making the unit unusable. Are replacement lids available in AUS and at what price?
Hi there, you may send a request for spare part here: external link :)
have not had reply so far to this question from contact-us @kmart.
I also have a broken glass lid. Did you eventually find out where you can get one if so can you let me know where and price. Thanks. Cheers

Just purchased my first anko counter top convection oven and puzzled with one of the accessories that came in the box - think it might be tongs though not sure???
Yes they are tongs with a plastic white strip at the top. The other metal piece is the lid stand.
Thanks
Get with it! The "thing" is "tongs" to lift the wire stand in and out of the bowl. Nev, maybe you should leave the cooking to someone else.
Thank you Jenny for asking i was going to ask the same thing. Paul don't be so rude there was no need to reply that way.
Hì is the oven light ment to come on every 5 seconds it realy annoying
The light comes on regularly which I think is due to the thermostat so when the oven temperature drops below the setting you have the oven on, it comes back on. My very first convection oven did not have a light which I preferred. Am about to use mine now for honey and soy chicken wings.
Ok thanks for that you injoy your marinated chicken wings the light every 5 seconds for 1.5 hours was really annoying and I think expensive if it's doing that it would be like turning a jug on and off during the boil ??
Is it the high rack I use at a majority of time
Yes I agree. I hardly ever use the low rack unless I need more room eg roast chicken etc
As I have just purchased my 1st turbo oven, I would like to know which is the best place to put my food, eg, on the bottom on the low rack or on the high rack. Thank you for any information you can give me.
I've been using these turbo ovens for years. I mainly use the high shelf and adjust the temperature setting or cooking or higher temperature for grilling or browning. If you have a big item like a whole chicken use the bottom shelf. Personally I prefer the bbq or main oven for a roast chicken tho. It's great for quickly reheating pizza and cooking steak and lamb chops
I use the high rack most of the time. On line, I purchased a rack that is half way between the height of the low and high rack. If I need to use a low rack I use this rack instead of the low rack supplied. The fan on this new model oven is not as powerful as the one on my old oven. If I want to cook a cake I put the mixture in a dish that can go in the microwave. I put the cake in the microwave to heat the bottom and middle of the mixture. I then put the cake on the mid height rack to finish cooking.
Can I cook lamb shanks on the bottom of the pyrex bowl with out the wire stand
I wouldn't recommend it as the air circulation can't get to the bottom. Better to use the low wire shelf and a pyrex bowl on top with the lamb shanks inside
I have just brought a anko convection 12litre oven and during the cooking time and also putting it on for the first to burn off any residue. the light under the heating element kept coming on and off l am. Very worried about using this product Regards Eileen Anderson
Haven't used mine for a while but i am guessing it is connected with the thermostat. When it reaches the desired temperature the light goes out and when it needs to reach the desired temperature again, the light goes on. I love this product and it is great value for money.
It comes on straight away and keeps coming on and off all the time
It's quite normal. Try turning the thermostat up high and it will come up to the desired temperature. They are made to cut in and out which is the thermostat control. The halogen light that provides the heat is very efficient and does not stay on for long. This turns the light on and off regularly say every 20 seconds or so. If you have an oven temp gauge you could check it's reaching the proper designed temperatures.
Is the KMart 12L Convection Oven supposed to make a noise?
Yes, it makes a noise when in operation, like a fan going. Would be handy to know exactly what kind of noise.
Thanks for responding, it was a loud banging noise when started initially. It may have been the fan settling in, I turned it off and left it for a while and tried again and seems to be fine now :)
Not sure about the noise, but I had to take mine back after one cook of a pork roast, didn't cook the meat all the way through, still raw after a few hr cook, piece of rubbish, don't bother to buy
Ok....so you get 2 racks & a lid holder but what on earth is the other wire thing?!
Not sure, took mine back, didn't cook the meat through properly, the old flavorwave had an egg & toast rack.
Guessing you are talking about the plate lifter when you have hot plates inside on the rack it clips round the edge and when you pinch it together it safely lifts out the hot plate and you can carry it safely to the bench top
Hi Gaylene
There is a piece, it is round, ring, that you can place onto the rim of the glass bowl, you then put the lid ontop of this to give you more height.
For Gaylene external link . This link will show you a picture of the different parts and the extension ring.
Why does the light switch off and on near the end of cooking time?
My light goes off and on every 15 seconds constantly as soon as you start it. I thought that's just how it works until I read these comments. Now I think it's broken. I better go turn it off.
This is how it works. It stays on until it reaches the desired temp then turns on and off to maintain temperature - the light only has one setting, it doesn’t get hotter or cooler, so the only way it can regulate is by being on or off. It’s working fine.
Why does the light go off and on near the end of cooking time?
