My kogan30L convection microwave oven with grill turns itself off when microwaving. Thought power too high but still does it on reduced power. I wait for several minutes and it comes back on. Am I doing something wrong or is it defective?

I ha e the 30l convention microwave and grill. 2 questions

1... there is no defrost function so do I just turn power down for defrosting?

2... do I need to remove glass plate when grilling and using convection?

The manual does not give much information.

My microwave does have a defrost function so your model is different to mine then. I do not remove the plate and my microwave came with a information booklet to help with how to use it.

As a safety precaution, I always remove the glass revolving plate when grilling. There is a defrost function on my 30L oven, which was purchased in November 2013, and is still going strong. The button is labelled "W.T./Time Defrost". Press it once and "d-1" appears, and you just enter the approximate weight (in grams) of the item you are defrosting by using the round dial below. Press it twice and "d-2" appears, and you enter the time you want the item to defrost, also using the round dial below.

I can't find anything about removing the glass tray on convection in the manual. Is this true? Also, the buzzer (beeper?) Seems to have a low volume now, can this be altered?

Hi, Thanks for your questions. Unfortunately, the beeper volume can not be adjusted. As you can see in the user manual at the following link, there is a prominent warning on the front page which states that the glass plate must be removed.

The manual is badly written and the detail about removing the glass plate seems to be nonsense. If you take it out you are left with a rotating stub. I've never had any problems with leaving it in. The microwave has functioned perfectly since new and seems excellent value. Don't know about beep.

Thanks for the reply to this question, my apologies, I actually have the 32l model. There is no similar warning on the manual, that I can see, for that model. I too have had no problem with shattering in convection mode (yet). Should I treat this warning as true for the 32l model as well?

Is there a recipe book or details on how to use it?

I don't recall a recipe book, but there is a manual. Mine is still working fine and is just as good as one triple the price.
