Was mowing the lawn and then without any noise or any reason the drive stopped. Any help gratefully received. Engine is working perfectly.

Same thing happened to me, I believe the push rod attached to the swash plate has become detached. - Maybe only a loose bolt that needs to be replaced.

My neighbour is small and light. She finds it almost impossible to release and use the deck-raise lever. Anyone else come across this ? It there a fix or an accessory that would help?

Madkat

Yes it can be a prob tell her to pull the lever upwards as she pushes the Release button

Yeah, Thanks, but I've tried that and she can't manage it. Even I find it hard work. Guess I or a workshop need to take the linkage apart and give it a good clean - see if that helps. Cheers, mate.

Engine shuts off when engaging blades Im on the seat nothing looks wrong Ive checked everything. Its like a kill switch somewhere. Any help?

There is a wire there goes to the coil i believe its black. Unhook the wire and see if that works. If it does you have a bad safety switch.

On the bottom part of the carburetor there looks like a vacuum line that has rottened off on the steal tub but I can’t see what it is supposed to be connected to. I’m I correct, if so where does it hook up to. Thanks Dean

check the safety switches they might be faulty

Your engine RPM is too high and the PTO safety is cutting in, or you're not sitting in the seat when you engage the PTO. Keep your RPM about 1/3 until the PTO engages then you can increase it to cutting speed.

I have a Kubota 1880 mower 3years old .Started it and ran fine then it started to smoke like I couldn't see the next door hose .ask the dealer they had no idea what happened any help?

Bazzmen
Bazzmen

Disappointing answer from a dealer, but they could have suggested a few things that might have happened !! Diagnosis by word of mouth can be very misleading, you need to have the machine on site with a reputable mechanic viewing the engine on start up. As long as you haven't overfilled the crankcase with oil, (easily done if you are a bit heavy handed) and cleaned the Air filter, checked that the air breather to the crankcase is not blocked, there is not a lot more that you can do except seek the help from an engine expert. For it to happen quickly usually it can be a blown head gasket, maybe a valve has let go, but to produce smoke it will probably be getting it from the engine crankcase. Who knows, it may be a cracked piston ring letting oil get into the piston chamber, all things that unless you are mechanically minded are jobs for the experts, because it will probably be an engine pull down to identify the exact problem. Sorry I cant be of more help.

Just bought new T1880, does anyone know how to wire up an hour meter? I have new Kubota hour meter.

Bazzmen
Bazzmen

In NZ the price of a genuine Kubota hour meter put it out of the question, so I purchased an after market digital readout ( $20 nz.) unit which has a single wire connection. This small gauge wire was led to the spark plug lead, and a few turns around the lead was all that was needed and fastened with a small nylon cable tie, job done !! However you will have two wires I presume, one will go to the back of the ignition switch on a live terminal when the switch is turned on and the other will go to the chassis as an earth. I suggest if you don't have a meter to test this connection and the confidence that you know exactly what you are doing, ask your Kubota dealer to show you. Usually they will have a machine in the workshop to show you.

Thanks Baz

There are no sign of positive and negative terminal on unit hoping polarity isn't a problem

Why would my belt be bracking on it ??not the deck belt

Bazzmen
Bazzmen

If I understand the question, you are not having any trouble with the Deck belt breaking, its the Drive belt that you are having a problem with. The Drive belt runs from the engine back to the Hydraulic gearbox through a couple of idler pulleys that keep the tension on the belt to stop it coming off. These belts usually run for hundreds of hours as mine did before finally giving up. I can give no reason for this to break except for normal wear and tear, so I would check that the idler pulleys are lined up and not leading the belt into a position where it can rub on any sharp chassis parts or whatever. To replace this top main drive belt it is quite a mission to do it yourself as it means working on the steering box which runs through the centre of this belt. Maybe trust your local agent with this task. Hope this helps !!

I agree with Bazzman. I've never had one go. Sometimes a stick can be thrown into the works but very rare to get the drive belt. Can't help, sorry.
