Hi team. I have a newish Goliath that has an issue with the acceleration pedal not returning. Need to flick it up with toe which isn't safe. Any ideas? No return spring on it.
Also has same cut out issues described below with the seat switch and operator isn't that light - any new ideas there?
They get dusty. Just a clean should do it.
Good day, I need to replace the battery. I cannot get the one which came with the mower ( Fulbat U1R-12 SLA). I bought one, he recommended instead, at the local electrician. But it does not work. The mowing deck is stopping as soon as I start driving, so I thought it might not be strong enough to drive the clutch of the mowing deck. Could please someone advise me, which battery I should buy. Thank you for your help. Emma
Hi Emma, firstly I'm not a mechanic or an electrician but the way I see it is if the replacement battery is of a similar rating as the original (12V 32Ah) and the engine cranked with no issue (state of charge was ok), then it's unlikely to be the cause as the starter motor draws way more current than the electric clutch. There's safety switches both under the seat which cuts engine off should the driver fall off and one connected to the brake pedal which won't let you start the engine unless brake pedal is operated but your issue doesn't sound like it's either. Is the belt tension spring on the cutting deck engaged?
Hi Paul, Thank you for your reply. It is a 12V 30Ah one. But I don't know if it is the same technology (AGM) as the Fulbat one and if that does matter. On the label it only says "Maintenance Free Battery". The engine does not stop, just the mowing deck. I can start it again, when I start to drive (sometimes immediately, sometimes after some meters) it stops again. I can do that often. Yes, the belt tension spring is engaged. I adjusted the tension according the manual.
Hello Emma, our advice is to take your mower to your local authorised Masport service agent for investigation. They will be able to analyze your mower's problem. Hi, I have had a problem with the spring safety cut-off switch under the seat. I would check this first. As stated above, if the battery can start the engine, it’s not that.
Hi Tim, thank you for your reply. My problem is not, that the engine stops, only the mower deck (cutting deck, rotation of the blades) does stop. Cheers Emma
My Crossjet was blowing lots of smoke from oil leak from engine. Took to repair shop and they fixed it for $300aud. Got it home and still blowing heaps of smoke from engine oil leak. After an hour decided to stop but forward reverse lever won't engage so can't move it. Any ideas.

Sorry, p&a?
I have Goliath 110HD 4x4 mower, after using this am now find that cutting deck no longer functioning? Engine running normal, no burning odor etc .
How change or out wheels from cross jet 4x4
I have a Crossjet 4x4 mower. Has worked well, but I recently lost weight from about 80 kg to 70 kg and sometimes when eg pushing hard on a pedal, the engine stops because the seat switch turns it off. I've got used to it now and by sitting carefully and "hard" it rarely causes a problem although often nearly cutting out. I now have another operator who weighs only about 55 kg and even just turning a corner makes the engine stop. I've overcome it by adding a bag of sand under the operator, but it is not comfortable. Is there a modification or a fix for this? Can you tell me how the switch works so I could arrange something to make it work with a lighter operator?
I've never had that problem and light people drive mine without issues so I'm at a loss. No doubt you have already checked the wire connector to the seat switch under the seat? With the bag of sand on the seat without the operator does the machine continue to run? I only need hand pressure on mine, with a bit of weight to keep it running. But to answer your question I do not know how the seat switch operates exactly but it sounds like yours may have moved out of it's mountings, become lose or something like that given that turning corners can cut the motor out. Regards
Thanks for the response. I have dismantled the seat enough to get a look and some action at the area between the cushion and the steel base. A bit messy removing the seat covering that is clamped on around the edge of the metal but it actually come off easier than I imagined and even went back on fairly neatly. Inside the foam and sticking out a little under the foam is a switch box. (should have taken a photo but I'm not pulling it apart again yet just for that. There are two compression springs that keep the body of the switch box away from the metal base. With weight on the seat, these compress and allow one side of the switch box to be pushed shut, presumably actuating the switch. I've replaced these spring with weaker ones. Now to refit the seat and try it out. I can see plenty of opportunities for individual seats to react to weight differently. I'm hoping this one is a one off and the lighter springs will fix the problem.
Price and width of mower cutting deck
Hi we have brought a 4wf crossjet which is not going again fir the third time since we Broughty it a couple of months ago. Carburettor replaced, faulty sensor for clutch now they think faulty clutch. There is an error code on dash 8115 just wondered what thus refers to. 4 weeks lockdown and a brand new broken down crossjet not much fun.
I'm not sure what that code would be for. The only thing I can suggest is try google, somebody else may have had the same, but I guess you have already tried that. Sorry I can't help further............Good luck.
Don’t know the law in your country but sounds like a case for a new machine under consumer law.
Hello All - I’m trying to find a unit that will work on a sand island In QLD Australia I have a 1 acre block that is a bit sloping but some areas are open sand - then a lot of not thick thistle- I am sure it will handle the Bush - but does anybody have experience with it transversing sand? Also can you Disengage the blades when driving? Cheers Ray
Yes the blades can be disengaged when driving and should be able to handle driving on sand being 4wd. I would recommend you get the dealer to bring it out to your place for a trial to see what it can and can't do. Personally I wish I had done this before I bought it because if I had I wouldn't have bought it. Unlike the videos mine does struggle on long grass, is uncomfortable after a period in the seat and knows how to use fuel when working hard. There are other options to consider like the sherpa or the Grillo so take your time and buy wisely.
I have the Masport Goliath with a mulching deck. The blades won't engage when I pull the switch. The pulley is not spinning. Where do I start?
Sorry I have no idea with a Goliath. I have a crossjet. Stupid question have you tried Google?
Having trouble lately with it stalling when engaging the blades. Doesn’t do it all the time but will do it 3 or 4 times in a row. Blade engagement clutch has been changed, new battery but still does it, usually after it’s warmed up say after 10/15 minutes or so.
Try checking your air cleaner, this may sound stupid, but with the extra load on the engine when the blades are engaged if the air cleaner is filthy it could stall.
Thanks Gavin, yeah have checked it with air filter removed and still the same.
Not looked on mine but check that you haven't lost a spring on the govener, if it has one, because if the engine slows relative to the set speed normally the govener prevents a stall
How to change mower v-belt?
The v belts have a doing tensioner pulley and needs to be loosened to allow enough slack to replace the belt
As yet I haven't had to change the v-belt on the crossjet........yet, but I wouldn't expect it to be any more difficult than any other ride on mower. To simplify the change take a few photos from different angles and if required refer to the manual.
Sorry I cant be of any more help.
Regards and good luck.
Has anyone had problems with the hydrolic pump? Breaking shafts or pumping faults
Hi Jim,
No I have had no problems with the hydraulics, that department seems to work ok although I haven't done many hours yet because of the machines in ability to cope with my grass even on the highest cut........it frustrates me!
Yes Jim. Hydraulics is but one area where this mower fails. I've had the transmission rebuilt twice, the steering once, belts and pullies too many times to mention and the list goes on and one. In case you were wondering my machine has done 441 hours and maintenance and repairs have now cost a little more than half of the original purchase price. The machine is just over four years old. I agree with you on the grass. It can't mow it thick, wet or long without it struggling significantly. Raising the deck helps but I also found that if you tie up the stone guard (doesn't matter if you're out in the middle of the paddock) the grass is less likely to compact on the guard. Also I found mowing in an anti-clockwise direction helps as all the cut grass is ejected to the right hand side of the machine so you're throwing the grass out on to the side that already been mowed. Anything you can do to help take pressure off the machine helps.
