I have a dolphin x40 plus , I have a large platform in my pool 3m long x3m wide x 300mm deep my dolphin will not work in this section is there a mod that can be done to the sensor to enable it to clean this section of the pool

Maytronics
Maytronics   DM

Hi John, Thank you for your enquiry. Our Dolphin robots are not programmed to clean steps, benches, and tanning ledges. Our robots need a minimum depth of 500mm to function properly, if the water level covering the robot is less than this, the Dolphin will shut down as a failsafe.

The Dolphin will only be able to clean the stairs if it has room to stand on them entirely and if the water level is deep enough. We recommend brushing dirt on the stairs onto the bottom of the pool, for the robot to be able to clean the debris.

The Dolphin X40+ does have an option to change the unit from wall climbing mode to floor only. We would suggest changing modes.

If you have any further questions, please contact us on 1300 693 657 (option 2)

Does Dolphin X40 cleans the leaves lying on the bottom of pool? Thats one of my biggest requirement. Thanks

Maytronics
Maytronics   DM

Hi Sarbajit, Thank you for your enquiry regarding the Dolphin X40+. The Dolphin X40+ has the Multi-layer filtration system with integrated fine and ultra-fine filters for rough and fine dirt and debris.

If you require any further assistance, please contact us on 1300 693 657 option 2. We will be more than happy to run through which pool cleaner might work best for you.

hi. my x40 plus isn't catching fine dirt on the inner filter anymore. It was when I first purchased it a few months ago. It aways had fine dust in it. I always wash filters out after each use but the inner fine filter is now always clean. Thanks Nick Toowoomba

Daryl
Daryl

The inner filter is more for coarse debris and the corrugated filter is for the finer dirt/dust/particulate. Having said that, I had algae at the start of the season that was clogging the inner filter and causing all sorts of grief, but that's a whole different story.

If you are concerned that you're not catching as much dirt/dust as normal, check your lid is clicking down fully, and make sure nothing can get around the top or bottom of the filter basket. Also, rinse out the inside of the robot and make sure the rubber flap at the back (opposite end to the motors) is in place and sits flat.

How well does the Dolphin X6 handle the cleaning of steps within the pool?

Maytronics
Maytronics   DM

Hi James, Thank you for your enquiry regrading the Dolphin Active X6. Climbing steps and benches/ledges as areas that require cleaning is not part of the mapping process that each robot undertakes in order to clean any pool. As robotic pool cleaners have a footprint of approximately 400mm, it is not guaranteed that robots will be able to climb steps and benches/ledges due to the variance in size, shape, depth and shape of steps between pools.

Whilst it is not uncommon for a Dolphin to navigate to these areas, the water depth may be too shallow for the robot to navigate. A minimum water depth of 400mm is required for the Dolphin to function as it ensures that the impeller is fully covered by water.

Which filter should I use for normal light pool cleaning, and which should I use for heavier cleaning.

Maytronics
Maytronics   DM

Hi Ray, Thank you for your enquiry regarding your Dolphin X30. A Dolphin robotic pool cleaner can be equipped with fine spring filters (100 microns - screen mesh) that remove large debris (leaves, grass, twigs) and/or ultra-fine filters (50 microns - pleated, corrugated) that clean small particles (e.g. sand, dirt).

Spring filters should be used for initial spring cleaning (early in the season).

If there is anything further we can do to assist, please contact our customer care team on 1300 693 657 option 2.

Many thanks and enjoy the rest of your day!

Hi, we have a X20 Dolphin, world great but it keeps getting tangled! Is there anything you can recommend to stop it?

Maytronics
Maytronics   DM

Hi Mark, Thank you for providing feedback on your Dolphin X30. First we would recommend taking your Dolphin robot out of the pool and straightening the cable out completely, letting it air dry in the sun for at least 3 hours to get the kinks and twists out. Let it air dry before winding it up.

Make sure that the cable is wound correctly after each use. We recommend that you also check that nothing is obstructing the Dolphin wheels or tracks as this could cause the Dolphin to spin in circles and twist the cable.

To keep your cable free of tangles we recommend making sure the water temperature is over 15C/59F and that the pool's chemicals are balanced and in the optimum recommended range:

pH: 7.0-7.8 Chlorine: Max. 4 PPM NaCl/Salt: Max. 5,000 PPM

Most importantly, do not use too much cable! If your Dolphin has a Swivel Cable and especially if it doesn't, it is very important to measure out the right amount of cable you need.

To do that measure out the same length of cable as the longest length of your pool. That will be the amount of cable your robot needs to allow it to cover the pool and help avoid tangles. Make sure the power supply is centered at the longest length of the pool for better performance.

If there is anything further we can do to assist, please contact our customer care team on 1300 693 657 option 2.

How effective is this cleaner with large amount of leaves.

Mo B
Mo B

Outstanding! This robot has no problems in collecting all the leaves from our pool. The filter basket is quite large and normally takes 2-3 cleans to fill. Our pool is situated amongst dense foliage and has been managing quite well. The wireless function is surprisingly useful, that's how I have been using the robot all the time.

Maytronics

Hi Bryan. Thank you for reaching out. Many models of Dolphin have large capacity filter baskets to hold a significant amount of debris. Please note however, with regards to heavy leaf matter particularly, any floating debris may require manual removal.

Beverley
Beverley · Dolphin X30

Hi, the last few days my Dolphin X30 starts goes for a couple of feet then stops, what would be the reason for this?

Maytronics
Maytronics   DM

Hello Beverley. Thank you for choosing to purchase a Dolphin. An early stop of the robot may be caused by a warning from the motor safety sensors. In this case we advise you to check that there are no obstructions in the drive system or in the impeller. Remove the robot from the pool, and disconnect the power supply from the outlet. Now, place it upside down, try rotating the brushes by hand. Check the tracks and brushes for any visible damage.

Now let's check the impeller and its surrounding parts. Make sure the power supply is still unplugged from the outlet. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver, do not use a power drill. If you notice debris trapped in the impeller, open the impeller, remove the debris, and reassemble. Now test the robot in the pool We would advise you to check that your power supply unit also remains switched on when your robot stops. If your power supply unit is also turning off, we recommend you check there is no issue with your power supply.

If the problem persists, you will need to carry out a more thorough diagnosis at an authorised Maytronics repairer.

Back in October 2020 You could buy X6 DOPHIN for $1900 and now after the pandemic with covid they hike these prices to $2900. Please explain? My personal opinion is that it's absolutely outrageous. People should not be paying this amount of money for a pool robot.

James P.
James P.

They've never been $1900 retail. I was working in a pool shop at that time and they were retailing for $2300, you may have seen them discounted to $1900 but that wouldve been a bargain. The rise to $2900 is rational as all costs have risen.

Consider the base model which only does floors and has no programming would now retail (I think) for about $1250, pretty much double that price for two motors (not just the 1) in the X6, upgraded everything else, and programmable functions. Seems like a no brainer if you need all those features, otherwise grab something in the middle.

Maytronics
Maytronics   DM

Hello Michael. We thank you for your feedback. When these models were launched, they had a recommended retail price of $2999. As all agents are independent from Maytronics, they are able to offer discounts and promotions on the models of Dolphin that they stock in their respective stores. In addition, the Active X6 and its respective equivalent models are at the top of their lines and in turn, their pricing reflects this.

Which filter does what

Maytronics
Maytronics   DM

Hi Bernadette. Thank you for reaching out. For mud, the ultra-fine filter type may be better suited as it has recommended for finer debris. This filter type appears as small folds and is 50 micron. The spring net filter type appears as a fine mesh and is 70 micron and is best suited for large debris. Please feel free to contact our Customer Care Team on 1300 693 657 option 2 for any further assistance.
