His communication has been excellent, providing regular progress updates and taking the time to answer every question I have raised. Whenever there has been an issue or a design query, Damien has always responded promptly and professionally, explaining the situation clearly and working with us to find practical solutions. His attention to detail and willingness to help have given us great confidence throughout the construction process.

Although we have not yet reached handover, we are very pleased with the progress of our home and the level of customer service we have received from the Metricon team. The quality of workmanship on site has been up to expectations, and the build has been progressing at a steady and satisfactory pace. *Price/Value - 5/5 - highly competitive prices and great value. Upgrades is steep but you can choose to delay the non structural ones for after handover.

*Color Selection 4/5 (excellent consultant but they have no visualizer to show your selections, limited range from supplier to choose from and studio M has limited options to view in person)

*Pre Site - 5/5 - Fantastic consultant. There were few discrepancy which was resolved quickly and to my satisfaction

*Construction - Great Site Supervisor. Provides weekly updates. I also hired a private inspector and Site Supervisor has been good at responding to all issues raised by inspector. So far 5 out of 5 positive experience with 70% of construction yet to go.

Whilst making an insurance claim re: a leak from the shower drain, we were asked to do a full check on the storm water drains, which we engaged a plumber to do. I am quite disappointed with my experience building with Metricon. One of the main reasons I chose a large builder was because I thought the quality and customer service would be better than smaller builders, but that hasn’t been the case. From the beginning, I felt rushed through the whole process. The appliances in my package were later changed… Read more

due to unavailability, and I ended up with a cooktop and dishwasher I don’t like. The colour appointment was especially stressful — I clearly said it was my first time building and that I wanted to take my time because I was spending tens of thousands on upgrades, but I was constantly told there was another appointment and we needed to hurry. I had less than 20 minutes to choose bathroom tiles. I was told about the price for the upgraded items but was never properly explained the differences or functions.

It was also very hard to visualise anything properly. Most selections were done using small samples, brochures, and laptop images instead of proper displays like you see in places like IKEA or Bunnings, so it was hard to picture how the final kitchen or bathrooms would actually look.

There were also things that were never clearly explained. I paid around $3,200 for curtains and blinds, but later found out kitchen and laundry weren’t included. Flyscreens were also not installed on the laundry, dining room, or front door, and this was never properly explained — if I had known, I would have added them during the build.

Even the plans were misleading in some ways. The shower screen looked about 1800mm wide and 2000mm high on paper, but the actual shower cabin is only about 900mm wide, which feels much smaller. The bathroom shower should have a spiral hose, not the standard hose currently installed. The quality of the current hose is also unsatisfactory. After moving in, I also noticed the sliding wardrobe doors feel thin, and despite asking for more bench space around the cooktop, it wasn’t done. I cannot even put a decent size chopping baord on the side of the kitchen as there is not enough room. The dishwasher is also very noisy. cheap quality entry appliances were used such as solt and Inalto.

The double garage driveway is too narrow to comfortably accommodate two vehicles side by side. Even when two cars are parked on the driveway, there is insufficient space to properly open the doors of either vehicle. This significantly impacts the practicality and functionality of the driveway.

I also didn’t hire inspectors at every stage, only at final inspection, and even then my inspector was told to hurry up, which shouldn’t happen at all.

Looking back, I would seriously consider buying an established home instead. At least you can see exactly what you’re getting before committing, rather than finding out after you move in.

Overall, I feel like the focus is more on pushing customers through the process rather than helping them make informed decisions they’ll be happy living with long term. The house-and-land packages are very basic, and you almost have to upgrade everything.I am looking forward to selling my home in the future and will definitely rebuild something much more liveable.
