Even though the build took slightly longer than originally anticipated, every extra day was for a good reason, the work was done properly, thoroughly, and with precision. David was incredibly detailed and meticulous in every aspect of my build, often noticing things I hadn’t even considered! He kept me informed at every stage, always taking the time to explain any progress, address the concerns, and reassure me whenever issues arose. Any issues that did come up, he was straight onto them immediately, which made me feel confident and supported throughout my builing process.

One of the things that impressed me the most, was how proactive [Name Removed] was. Each step of the build aligned perfectly, there were no unnecessary delays for supply orders or fix ups. It was clear he was always ahead of the game, planning and coordinating each step to ensure everything ran seamlessly. On top of his technical skill, [Name Removed] was consistently polite, professional, and approachable. He made me feel like my home was in the best possible hands.

The final cost of my build was almost exactly what I had estimated, which was fantastic, only a small discrepeancy which added some extra money to my final costs. This was due to my undermounted sink, which had been missed in the contract after my Studio M appointment. The timeline, customer service, and site administration were all excellent though, and I felt fully supported throughout the whole process.

During one of my final inspections, I did notice my Kitchen tap upgrade, and microwave nook removal were missed from my original contract and plans. I raised this with David and voiced that I was pretty disappointed. After conversation I ended up actually really liking the microwave nook, and was reassured that the kitchen tap would be an easy fix/DIY once handover was complete.

In the end, my home perfectly reflects my style and feels like home, even though it’s not my forever place. I can genuinely say that working with [Name Removed] made my first building experience positive, smooth, and stress free. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a site manager who is thorough, attentive, and truly cares about doing the job right.

colours is fantastic, being able to have a one hour tour a couple of weeks before actually making your selections really helps you start to get an idea of what you like, plus seeing nearly everything on display is great too. Our site manager was absolutely fantastic, with nearly weekly updates with what was happening with the build. He would even notice issues and ensure they were resolved for us in a timely manner, sometimes before I even had a chance to drive past and flag them with him. He was incredibly meticulous with planning and had every trade booked in so the build flowed smoothly in a timely manner. We are in love with the floorplan of our home, it definitely suits our needs, but are definitely navigating some unexpected issues post-construction. None of these are major, but we are currently unable to get internet as easily as we had expected to post build. So far during post construction, though, the service and warranty team has handled our concerns in a very prompt manner. We would definitely build with Metricon again, but hopefully won’t have to for a very long time! We started our building in last week of September 2024 and we received our keys on 8th May 2025. (With Dec vacation in between) Imagine building a 53 squares homes in 6.5 months with best output. [Name Removed] did 4 hrs of final inspection running through every wall, every nook and corner of the house!

The only pain point for me in the whole building process was the 2-day Colour selection. I heard horror stories, financial stress from mostly every one of my friends who built so I was in 2 minds whether to build or not however ended up with Metricon and all I can tell you in not in 1 instance I felt why I commenced on this project.

Our build with Metricon was a rollercoaster of excitement, anxiety, disappointment, and frustration. We’ve now reached handover after just 15 weeks—a remarkably fast timeline—but overall, we feel quality was compromised, with defects still… Read more

outstanding at handover. Early in the process, the wrong bricks were ordered, and half the house was built with them before we did a drive by and noticed and raised the issue. Construction stopped for three days, and then the builder told us we could keep the bricks at no extra cost. Fortunately, the bricks were an upgrade, and we were happy to keep them—but there was no apology or acknowledgment of the error. Site security was lax at first, resulting in the copper cabling for the power leadin being stolen. This led to the use of a generator, with costs passed on to us without prior notice—we only found out when an unexplained invoice arrived. After we queried this and insisted on better security, including closing the fencing and installing a camera.  Due to the errors with ordering, the onsite theft, lack of transparency and the extremely fast pace of the build, we hired an independent building inspector. Unfortunately, our concerns proved valid. To the site manager’s credit, they acknowledged the defects we raised and those identified in the inspector’s reports, working to correct them before handover. He was determined to beat his record of delivering a home in under 17 weeks. Sadly, we believe this speed impacted the quality of the final product. Trades were rushed. Painters had to return repeatedly for touch-ups, which were poorly done—paint layered over paint, leaving visible brush marks and patches. Heating and cooling installers ignored the electrical plan, placing outlets incorrectly and omitting key areas like the dining room. Bricklayers were recalled due to missing grout after the washout, and grout on piers and the alfresco exceeded allowable limits (40mm instead of 20mm)—a defect still unresolved. Electricians missed power points listed in the contract and installed conduits and outlets at inconsistent heights. Windows installed by Southern Star were of poor quality. At handover, most winders were cracked, chipped, or split- and still are. Some were painted to match the frame color, but the paint was already wearing off. The winders themselves were flimsy plastic that breaks with minimal resistance. We can’t recall if we were offered an upgrade at Studio M (decision fatigue was real!), but regardless, the standard inclusion should be durable—not cheap and fragile. The underlying problem seemed to be the relentless push for faster build times, which pressures trades and leads to rushed, substandard work and ordering mistakes. Their QA process missed critical items our inspector caught, such as missing roof flashing (creating entry points for vermin), improperly seated tiles, broken roof tiles, and a damaged kitchen sink edge. We love our new home but are not certain we would build again through a volume builder where completion times seem to be valued over quality.

He understood that we needed to move in six months, as I had to go overseas for a month, and he finished our two-storey house in 21 weeks. Additional review July 2025 While I was initially impressed with Metricon's efficiency, things went downhill when it came to defect repairs. I uploaded all the required evidence to their portal during the warranty period, but no one contacted me until the very end. Someone eventually called saying they'd inspect the site and get back to me — I gave them my tenant’s contact details but never heard back. Later, my site supervisor Brett said he’d organise the repairs and send through paperwork once completed. Again, no follow-up. I chased him up in May, and he replied in late June saying he couldn’t reach my tenants. But when I checked with my tenants, they said Metricon had already scheduled a visit the following Monday. I tried contacting Brett again — no response. All I’ve asked for is the defects to be repaired and to be kept updated. This whole process has been frustrating, full of delays and poor communication. It’s been far more stressful and time-consuming than it should have been. Please don't get Brett to contact me again, I'd love to deal with someone else that is reliable.

Four words : Don't build with Metricon – The worst builders you will come across- will not take responsibility for mis selling products and installing into the home. They refuse to remove product from home, and back themselves. after several years of dealing with Metricon I wish I had not built with them. Bought the house at 1 yr old , Straight away noticed the render had pit marks of rust starting to appear all over the place ? because the couple who built it only got 2 coats of render instead of 3 ? And that voids the warrany Wont even go there with cracks that starting to show where there should have been expansion joint on the hebel sheets ! No 1 builder ?? Also went to the geelong metricon offices a few months back . Got told they will get onto it ? Not a peep from them its now 3 yr old house and this been goin on for 2 yrs since purchase Where is the warranty ?????? Also asked for the plans of the build to see where stormwater and sevice pipes etc are incase i ever want to dig anywhere , got told as i was not the original buyer i cant get that info ??? And would have to talk to original couple ?? What if they left the country ? Died or whatever the house plans are part of their build no matter what! Post handover – I have a list of items still outstanding waiting for repair since hand over March 2023. I have not had 'continuous hot water' since living here - Metricon installed a Chromagen unit which drops in and out of hot water, sometimes does not even reach over 35 degrees in temperature. ignore my request to have someone come look at it and I am left having cold showers every day. Contract item: Provide Chromagen 930SR30T26P LPG 300 litre continuous flow solar hot water service combined in one unit with 30 evacuated tubes solar collector in lieu of standard gas boosted solar hot water service.

Product does NOT provide continuous flow or even hot water most of the time.

Another issue being my ensuite shower, which I have not been able to use for the period of time living here. The problem initially started with the breach leaking, causing my WIR to flood within 2 days post handover, this problem took approximately 10 months to fix with the shower re-builders returning numerous times to get the shower back to a acceptable finish standard. The same shower has a drainage issue seperate to this, which causes the shower to flood the ensuite. I have recently resorted to a temporary solution, of removing the tiled shower grate allowing greater flow of water to drain. However, this creates a risk of me rolling my ankle down the drain, tripping over or losing items which will end up in my septic tank. I had previously been advised by my nominated service manager that my shower that floods my ensuite, 'performs to its intended use because the fall is compliant'.... In my experience, this would actually indicate a faulty tile waste, where the gap doesn't allow enough water flow.

In addition, I also have issues with my stormwater discharge point and flooding my irrigation field, which has been an ongoing battle to resolve or even receive communication for.

I go weeks at a time with no communication with Metricon - left extremely frustrated and usually having showers at my mum or friend's houses, just so I can have a hot shower.

I am an ex-staff member of Metricon Regional West. I left my position with company with high expectations from my experience as a staff member. I had a fantastic sale, pre-site & construction experience with a few resolved hiccups. However, I am left extremely disappointed in the Service & Warranty for Regional West post hand over particularly with the ignorance of long term damaging issues ie. water damage that these items impose.

I had a great experience with Metricon from start to finish, their agent assisted me to find the right spot that suited my budget, assisted us with the design and interior. I am very satisfied.
