What a surprise – Needed something cheap to drive to the office and back. My "now weekend" car isnt very economical at 14-16lt /100km Found a non-running 07 with 120000km on the clock, the very low price was worth the risk. Towed it home. Found and repaired the issue in one afternoon. Pulled out the interior steam cleaned it , serviced all the fluids slapped… Read more
some cheap seat covers and floor mats in.
Have done 500km so far (still has 1/4 tank!).
This little thing is a joy to drive, can be parked like a motorbike its tiny on the outside and incredibly roomy inside! AC is ridiculous! Everything works, no major rattles. At 120,000km the suspension is still tight enough to comfortably drive.
The CVT is a bit of a let down but I guess I'm used to high performance. Just feels like the little aluminium and plastic engine is constantly revving to deliver power.
The seats are flat and having no centre console/arm rest to brace on it feels like you will fling out if you turn in a little too hard.
Can be a little noisy at 100km/h but it is a tin can so cant expect a lot of sound deadening.
If the CVT dies Ill throw a 5 speed in it, and keep driving it till it cant drive no more.
Great little car and now I'm on the look out for a Ralliart that isn't molested.
2010 Colt VRX - Ecpononical and flexible – I bought one of these for my Son as his first car. I read the reviews about the 'blind spot' and agree that the car has a thick A pillar. But I'm struggling to figure out where you have to sit for it to be an issue. I don't have a permanent neck brace, so I tend to look around it anyway. At $9990 for a VRX with under 40k on the clock and… Read more
service history, these are great value in the used market. Qld government had a heap and they are hitting the market. Ours has the safety pack of 6 airbags otherwise they only attract 3.5 ANCAP stars.
Clever design and simple construction make them easy to work on. It is economical and the CVT transmission is well matched to the torquey 1.5. I have found that at 60kmh it is humming along at about 1300rpm.
The auto VRX with safety pack was expensive as a new car and I have found a few things that the car should have. More sound proofing - on coarse country roads the car is noisy compared to my 2010 Fiesta. A set of full sized car mats and some additional carpet in the luggage area will help with that.
Rear interior light. There is a space for one but it was deleted for the VRX. This leaves the rear seats and the boot space in the dark at night. We found a light in an earlier model at a wrecker and this has solved the issue.
Cruise control: not needed for a city car, but for an outer urban car it's a great addition to prevent speeding fines. You can get a plug in, electronic version to match the car on eBay for under $700.
A great little car, find one with the safety pack...
Its got everything – bought new in 2008, done 100,000kms. Contenders were fiesta xr4, polo gti, swift sport. The colt beats them overall. The polo is more upmarket on the inside, and the fiesta had the sharpest handling, but the colt is the best overall car. its 4 doors and 4 seats mean its a practical daily car, we've used it as a family car with a pram in the back.… Read more
The fuel economy is easily best in class and considering the power output also, its amazing. The turbo does take awhile to spool up, but once it does the midrange surge is big and meaty, you dont need to rev it all the way out, just use the boost and the midrange to get the job done. Accelerating uphill in top gear is no problem, and theres always a reserve of power for overtaking etc. Brakes were sharp and better than the polo or fiesta. The recaro seats are very very good, and reduce fatigue from sliding about, i drove it 800kms and back without soreness. If you are fat you might have a problem with the seats. I'm 6ft and not skinny and its great, my wife loves them too. After 100k theres a couple of squeaks and rattles and the build quality is not up to a european standard, and equipment levels dont match its rivals, but this car's weapon is weight and with a tiny 1100kg its a very nimble and potent car through the hills. The standard exhaust has an angry rumble at idle that dissappears once underway. The turbo is silent and we added a k&n filter to the standard box and a turbosmart BOV plumbed back and you can now hear a pleasant whistle and flutter.
with stiff sidewall tyres as standard and front wheel drive, It is hard to launch in a straight line, but it corners with a speed that will have you keeping up with heavier evo's etc.
stability and traction control lets you have some freedom and allows some slip and can be turned off completely.
its not a quiet refined ride, its a bit noisy from the tyres and its a bit bumpy, the recaros do their best but this is a raw uncompromising hot hatch cut from the same cloth as the lancer evolution.
theres no cruise control, only 4 speaker stereo and no side or seat airbags. Air conditioning is automatic and very powerful.
I would buy one again, i would recommend one to you. Handling, Price, Warranty, economy, space, power, brakes, seats frequent oil changes, bit cheap interior, equipment, only 2 airbags

Very fuel efficient very comfortable to drive – I purchased 2007 colt es with 120km in 2013 now has 200km, trouble free driving! About 2 months ago transmission (cvt) started to make growling bearing noise, cvt oil change fixed! The cvt transmission needs clean oil! I believe the torque converter was making the noise because of dirty oil! John Coen Western Australia Show details
Most fun little car to drive – If i could find a fault for this car i would but i can't! the car is super fun to drive, the fuel economy is incredible (manual) i did 350 in half a tank. I love the shape and the layout of the interior, i wished they continue making this car! Show details
Great little car – After doing a lot of research on the net, I purchased 2010 Colt VRX. I was after a small daily run about for the local area. It was checked by my mechanic and then serviced by him. The Colt has been great - no mechanical problems, nice run about. The rear seat has 2 options for folding it down and can carry a surprising amount of gear in the back,… Read more
however with 4 people, there is limited space. I would only recommend it for 2 people with an occasional use for 4 people. The only thing I would have liked to have been included was cruise control for the longer trips we do.

Extremely unsafe vehicle !! – Extremely dangerous driving this car due to right corner windscreen which blocks your view of cars coming from the right. I’ve had several near misses due to this issue.Mechanically the car has been great but the safety factor is a major issue. Extremely unsafe vehicle and I would not recommend! Show details
Very unsafe. Low fuel consumption – Extremely unsafe due to blind spot on front right. Can’t emphasise this enough. Otherwise good value for money. Low fuel consumption and zippy. Easy maintenance. Pretty dependable and surprising amount of space if seats are folded down. But I would not have bought this car if I knew about the blind spot issue. It’s dangerous. Show details
This car was great until the CVT transmission packed up after 117000 k's – The car was fantastic until the CVT died. We had additional warranty to 130,000ks or 10 yrs whichever came first. It had only 117,000 but was 6 months over the10 years. Mitsubishi quoted us $7,800 to replace the gear box as CVT can't be repaired. We are stuck with a perfectly good car which is still running great and been fully serviced. So what do we do now? Show details

The great move of 2022. I will tell how my grandchildren it all fitted in one load! – I am moving my smaller household belongings in my colt. Take the back seat out (you will need muscles) and it is quite the storage space workhorse at a fuel cost less than what I would spend in the shops on a saturday. The weight is the only limiting factor and that is just a case of mixing light items in with some book boxes. I looked at small… Read more
trucks but they add up to $600 for three days hire so the colt it is! We also have a 1980's mitsubishi l300 for the larger items (possibly finally on its last legs, thus why I am moving as much as I can in the colt.) if you have the time, the colt is the most cost effective way to move small items in the 2022 "Overcharging" era! 128,000 k's, still on the first set of brake pads (to be replaced this service or next), 2nd set of tyres. The first funny noise I have heard was yesterday and that ended up being one of the clocks I had in the passenger seat footwell space. I made the unfortunate decision to buy a renault the first time I bought a car, never again with the european cars!
Great little car – Bought my Mitsubishi Colt (manufactured in 2010, made in Japan) in 2015 used for AUD5300 in Perth. I was initially sceptical about the CVT transmission, as my Toyota Camry drove a bit different. I shipped the car to Melbourne in 2019 due to relocation. After 7 years of driving like a maniac, now the car is 12 years old, approaches 220k KM and… Read more
still runs strong. The only things that I have paid for was yearly logbook service and changes of four tyres, one battery and one engine mount, total about AUD2000 give or take. I did drive it on rough surfaces which I shouldn't have. That probably broke the engine mount. Great fuel economy due to lightweight (less than a tonne), about 5-6 L/ 100km, perhaps comparable to a hybrid car. With back seats folded, there is a good amount of space in the back as well. Also, the ceiling is very high for a 185cm person, even higher than the CRV I have. It's a pity that they don't make it anymore. In summary, great design, great quality, great fuel economy, great value for money (at least when I bought it).
Super reliable 15yo car that's fun to drive – In 2019 I bought my 2006 manual Colt due to the reviews on here - I wanted something cheap to buy and own, but importantly something that's also very reliable as I'm self-employed and was traveling long distances for work. The car more than fulfils its brief and I'm really happy I bought it. I purchased this from the original owner at 97,000 KMs,… Read more

I'm a mature driver commuting in regional Victoria. I really love this car. I've removed the back seat to carry my drum kit to gigs and it makes a great mini minivan. I get ribbed about its size, but I really don't understand why everybody around me feels the need for some monster ute to haul their body around (and I note that the blown head gasket on my mother's 2001 SUV is costing her 50% more than I paid for my entire car!). With its manual gearbox this car is so peppy and fun to drive, plus it handles very well - no wonder there's a club for these in the UK. And above all, this car is so cheap to service, and so reliable. The original owner and myself have had zero problems with this now 15yo car. And I drive down plenty of rough farm roads and bush tracks. I plan to keep it for years to come, and should a kangaroo write it off (a real possibility out here) there's no question: I'll definitely buy another. It's such a pleasure to something so cheap and yet highly reliable.
My only criticism is, yes, the pillar which others have mentioned. It's not a problem out on the road, but it is a mild stress in town, in terms of pedestrians and cyclists. If I was driving in a densely populated urban area then I'd be less happy with the car for that reason alone.
Love this little machine!!!!!!!!! – Great little runner, reliable and runs on fumes (almost!) Nice and roomy quiet and VERY nippy with the 1.5 Mivec engine. Love the icy cold air con and the practicality of the interior! Great build quality and made in Japan, really would have to be one of the best small cars on the road, and can really move if you want to stick the boot into it! … Read more
I have the vrx and it's a little stunner finished in Kingfisher blue, has a timing chain and not a stupid timing belt..........If you want a small vehicle, with fantastic economy and rock solid reliability (in manual transmission) go for it! Be careful and very cautious of a colt with the CVT automatic transmission!!!!! The manuals are the one to buy!!!!

I hoped in and was surprised at how comfortable the seats were.
The steering is so light. Air con was freezing. Gears were so easy to use. Wow the power it has!
Power windows. Stereo sounded great.
I fell in love with this fugly car. I bought it.
My family laughed when they saw it.
But now a few months have gone by we all like it.
It grows on you. So reliable, easy to park, fuel economy is amazing!
Best car ive owned!!!
WHy did they stop making this great little car ? – I love my 2011 Colt Plus. It is the third one we have owned - bought the first after looking for a smallish car which would take a wheel chair in the boot. to trading up to a later model but even the Mazda 2 doesn't match the head height and boot space or have the remote control boot opener.
The Colt Plus is economic, has needed no work done except annual servicing, is good around town and on the open road and easy to park.
We have no visibility problem with the column that some reviewers mention, have had 'sportier' cars with much worse visibility. No longer need the wheel chair but would buy a later model Colt Plus tomorrow if there was one.
Why did they stop producing this great little car ?
Just drives and drives! – Ive done 140,000kms and it still runs great, never had an issue with it in 9 years. Dirt cheap to service, $35 a week on petrol and has plenty of space for a small car and . Prefect A to B. Wouldn't sell mine if I didn't need a bigger car. 5/5 Stars. Show details

Fantastic reliable car! – My 2006 VR-X Colt is amazing i have had it for almost 10 years and have not spent anything on it except for maintenance- services, tyres etc. It is looking a little outdated now but i can't bear to part with it because i am not sure if there is another car out there that is as cheap to run and that is exceptionally built and so damn reliable!! fact!). And also, it delivers a very quiet and comfortable ride. It isn't the sexiest looking car but it certainly does deliver on drive and comfort.
the best in its class – I’ve purchased this car brand new in 2009 and I'm driving it longer than 5 years now. Was in two minds between Toyota Yaris and Mitsubishi Colt. No regrets whatsoever. No one single screw’s ever got loose. This car is in any respect better than it might seem. I’m sure, it’s the best in its class; just excellent. Show details
Surprisingly comfortable and roomy – Drove my partner's recently purchased 2009 Colt up to Port Stephens from Sydney and back for the day. I'm 6'2" so was worried about comfort but had no choice as the Ford Escape was becoming less reliable and always much more thirsty. With a lumbar support pillow in place, I really enjoyed the drive. ride and plenty of power, even up the hills. Thinking of claiming it as my own with finding some roof racks for it and ditching the Ford.
The only criticism I have right now, is the foot park brake. I kept forgetting it was there and bashing the top of my foot on it.
My window regulator broke front and back within 2 days of each other – No need to pay Mitsubishi to fix it as they charge a lot I have had my part fixed at a local mechanic $600 for the back $500 for the front. No problems with the car besides this. you would think if so many cars have the same issue then Mitsubishi would recall the car? Show details

Rear window regulator is known problem avg. $1200-1500 to replace, 3-4wks for part – Great car, but only had for 10mths and the regulator went. Of course insurance wouldn't pay for repair, even though I was unable to drive til it was repaired. Absolute nightmare. I loved it! – I had the car for 5 years had no problems apart from rattling good which after taking back 3 times they finally fitted lock screws and never had a drama since! Cutest little car only downside was lack of back seat room which is Shi I had to finally sell having a baby. I got constant looks and stares but it was cool everyone loved the car. We love it – We had a Corolla and I must say Toyota service was horrible so we were never going down that rack. As mentioned there is a little blind spot on the front pillar so watch that one. It was great price and one drive and it was ours. My wife drives a considerable distance each day and everytime I drive it I love it all the more. Here friends have new Mini's and other exotics but when she showed them the Colt they were all amazed. The seating is excellent and my 86 year old mother in law finds it very easy to enter and exit. the back seat adjusts to give more leg room.
Love the transmission and the fuel economy is outstanding. We own two Mitsubishi's and it's all good Fuel economy, style, comfort, design, engineering Nothing
An excellent little car without pretensions – We have had our little manual ES Colt for nearly a year and it has been a faultless little thing. As long as you don't expect it to drag cars away from the lights or impress teenage boys, it's marvelous. It comfortably returns excellent economy, even around town, and not a single fault has arisen in 30,000 happy km. If you can live with the rather… Read more

Great car, but – We have owned the Colt for over four years now, it's been a great little car, though the boot space is limited, no warranty work or break downs, but and here's the but, the 90,000 km service at Mitsubishi is outrages, over $1100.00, I had the same service done else where for just over $500.00, and that included new front brakes and machining… Read more
of discs, very disappointed in dealership, so disappointed in fact we traded the car in this weekend on a new Kia, much cheaper service charges and the same warranty, not the cars fault, but maybe Mitsubishi should pull there heads in,
they charge $298.00 for a basic service, which is oil and a oil filter, that's the extent of the service, about $50.00 in parts, $250.00 in labour, the cars is done in 20 minutes, they never fill up the water bottle, check your spare tyre, my wipers had a 25 cm tear in one of them, it was passed on inspection, they did not even look at them, can they also explain why a Lancer costs $198.00 for a basic service??
, if you buy a Colt, congratulations on a great car, just don't take it to Mitsubishi for service, find a good mechanic and stick with them, would never recommend Mitsubishi to anyone again, cars are great, service rubbish. Cars reliable and great economy. Outrages, over the top, should be ashamed of cost of servicing.
The good & the bad – The car is in the main excellent, power, cheap to run. But the window actuators keep breaking, the car has been back for warranty repair 4 times & now a 5th time for the same problem & out of warranty by 3 weeks. Waiting for Mitsubishi to decide whether they will fix under warranty, have been waiting for a few weeks now, cant use rear window or… Read more
put the roof down. Considering that this window actuator has already been repaired under warranty once before, it should be sorted out quickly & at no cost, if not I'll sell the car & steer clear of Mitsubishi forever.... efficient, powerful, pleasure to drive ongoing problems with window actuators breaking, 5 times now
Terrible – I bought an LS automatic back in 2007 and have now got rid of this awful, awful little car... Why...? 1. Both front shock absorbers have started to creak - when I drive down in the carpark it's a constant chorus of creak, groan... and the car's done only 15,000km. 2. Heater - terribly slow. It should not take 10 minutes in a modern car for the… Read more
heater to start producing warm air.
3. Airconditioner - noisy and schizophrenic. Turns on, then off in 5 second intervals - this is accompanied by the condenser fan cutting in and out and also the noise of the resistor in the fuse box (behind the glove box). So it's "clunk, whirl, tick-tock" every 5 or seconds when you're standing at the lights. Again, unnecessary in a modern car.
4. ABS brakes? But why do the rear wheels lock up so unceremoniously in an emergency stop...?
5. Auto transmission is VERY slow at moving into reverse if you have been driving around in 'D' for any period of time. This makes three-point-turns very slow (and dangerous)
6. Electric power steering not up to the job - when turning quickly from lock to lock, it can weight-up without any warning, making it almost impossible to turn
7. Why isn't there are light in the luggage compartment...? This doesn't cost thousands.
8. Tumbling rear seats - sound like a good idea, BUT you have to move the front seats forward in order to fold up the rear ones. So then how do you get in and drive, unless you're under 5'??
9. Rear wiper only has an intermittent function - contrary to what the instructions say, you CANNOT get this reprogrammed by the dealer. When it's raining heavily, it's almost useless, as the delay between each sweep is about 10 seconds.
10. No auto-up on driver's window... Why? Again, silly omission.
My car was not a lemon and everything worked the way it should, but after 18 months, it's "gremlins" started to annoy me more and more. Mitsubishi should know better. This car is ill-conceived. They should go back to the drawing board. I recognise that it is economical, but that isn't always enough. THERE ARE BETTER CARS OUT THERE FOR THE MONEY... Nothing good about this car
Comfortable and quiet – My experience with this car: The steering is great at low speeds, nice and light. At higher speeds it has more weight but feels "dead" and the car does tend to wander a fair bit. The interior is finished in pretty hard plastic but looks fine and is functional. The car's best feature is it's engine; it's very willing, happy to rev and surprisingly… Read more · 1
nippy, whilst being good on fuel. Boot space is small. Brakes are good but pedals are too close together. Gear shift is pretty ordinary - my Mitsubishi Mirage which this car replaced was MUCH better, but the clutch is nice and light. The car's worst feature are the seats - they're flat, small and slippery. I keep sliding around while cornering - really annoying. Headlights are OK but not exceptional. Stereo is OK, about average for the class - FM tuner is very good though. Performance, economy, refinement. Poor seats, wanders at speed.
Excellent – The first time I saw this little rocket as a prototype in the wheels magazine, I knew that I had to have it. Having previouly owned another little cult car, the Suzuki Swift GTi, I can definitely say that this is the new cult hatch to own. There are many other competitors out there, but none have the flexibility of a turbo that had plenty of torque, but also loves to rev to 6000+rpm (bar the Polo Gti). There is also more scope for obtaining more power from this engine further down the track than a naturally aspirated hot hatch. Prices have recently come down to more sensible levels to compete with the likes of the Suzuki Swift Sport, Ford XR4, and Polo Gti(approx $25000 new OTR).
The gearbox is a hefty Getrag unit (same make that BMW uses), with a good shifting action, and nicely weighted clutch. The steering feels nice and direct, and with deeply boltstered recaros fitted, there are no problems with slipping out of your seat on sharp corners. The brakes are excellent, and have already saved me from becoming a statistic, this thing can stop on a dime and has little brake fade when push through the hills.
The turbo mivec engine is a gem, and has plenty enough power to spin the front wheels in 1st & 2nd gear. Traction controlled is fitted to try and tame some of this but does not dampen the fun too much. Stability control also works well and is not too intrusive. Both can be turned off along with the traction control for tracks days should you need more direct control of the car.
The colt can suffer from some road noise at highway speeds, and has developed a couple of minor squeeks & rattles, but I can live with them in a car such as this.
The car handles very well, on the standard suspension, with some understeer in to corners. Personally, I have fitted lowered springs which have transformed the colt to even a better level of road handling. The standard tyres are Yokohama Advans, and they stick like glue once warmed up a bit (next tyre down from a semi-slick)
Interior space is excellent (like the tardis inside), with plenty of room for groceries and bulky items, plus lots of spots to hold drink bottles, cans, sunglasses etc.
There are also plenty of factory Ralliart performance parts available, but then again anything that adorns the Ralliart logo can be very pricy. A factory powerup option is also now available to take the power from 113kw 210nm to nearly 130kw 250nm, and is fully covered by the factory warranty.
This is truly a fast little car, definitely the best car I've owned so far, and will become a collectors item, if not due to the limited numbers that have been sold here (only officially sold to Aust & Japan) - it is also rumoured that the 2009 model will not be released with the recaro seats either.
Highly recommended! Handling, brilliant engine, brakes that nearly put you out the front window (good!), Brilliant Yokohama Advan tyres, Recaro seats, interior space, practicality of a four door, on road presence - sure to become a cult/collectable car due to the limited number of them on the road. Aggressive looks, stability / traction control. Excellent warranty, free roadside assistance. Inital high pricing compared to competitors. Some sqeaks/rattles, seating position a little high, front pillar obscures vision sometimes, a little noisy at speed. Needs lowering. Recaros grear, but not if you have a big butt! Stereo looks good, but sound quality not so flash.
Excellent – i've had this car 3 mths and every day it gets better and better. the handling is brilliant and the turbo gets up and goes. the seats are racing ricaro bucket seats, leather stearing wheel and gear knob. 6 disc cd changer. all in all the total look of the car is hot the ralli art name live's on. teat drive and you will see.. the ralli art version… Read more · 1

Mitsubishi Colt VRX 2007 – The best little car I have ever bought!!! I bought mine second-hand at 98,000km and still running flawlessly. I was about to get a new 1.6L Festiva Zetec and accidentally came across this cute little pre-owned Colt. I thought why not, took him for a spin and I was blown away. with extras plus sunroof.. IN LOVE with IT!! It has so much guts for a 1.5L engine even with 5 adults, it feels far more powerful than any other in its class, better than Yaris or Festiva, Mazda 2, Kia Rio(KIA is crap anyway) or I20 or I30 or any other. I would highly recommend it to anyone in the market for a small car that drives well and is super reliable. Plenty of leg room for back-seat passengers (unlike Festiva or I20 or I30 or Mazda 2). The revs are perfect for a small engine and the gearbox plus clutch are seriously amazingly engineered. Highly responsive engine. It may not look as sharp as Festiva or Mazda but it drives better. No interior noise even after 5 years of being driven. Japanese quality people, QUALITY!!! I am fussy and will find a flaw in every car but this little beauty has totally impressed me. I bought it and I have no regret, it's a little beast and the bucket seats with arms rest are amazingly comfortable even on a very long drive. LOVE MY little COLT!!!!!!! It's truly a brilliant little car, better than all the rest that I've tried. I had a KIA Cerato Koup before... it was a dive, a crap car. Everything! I am so impressed with it!
Good – Great car. Goes almost everywhere without trouble - highway, city, dirt roads. Reliable vehicle - no troubles with it and I've had mine now since 2007. Great buy. Super tight turning circle.
