hi i have just purchased a 2012 series 18 and cannot get the brake and tail lights working, is there a fuse somewhere that i might have missed?

Just had my Big Red delivered and having some set up issues. I’ve connected mains water and power. The BMPro controller powers up but says “no battery connected”? How do I get it to connect - can’t see anything scrolling through. Checked the actual batteries and they all seem “connected” with no switches or leads disconnected? Equally, despite being on mains water the tanks aren’t filling and there’s no water in the heater (pumps run and try to fill) so can’t turn it on in case I burn out the element? Appreciate these are novice questions but at handover there was no power to the van as I couldn’t connect to the mains power without an adapter so the guy said everything was set up at the BM controller/screen? Thanks inadvance for any advice

Morning Team, I have a 2011 Big Red. Need to remove the microwave oven above the fridge. Issue is microwave held in with bracket and cabinets built around. Any ideas would be appreciated. Chris B

Under the timber shelf that MW sits on you should see some screws with screw caps, Remove all screws this should allow you to slide microwave out on its timber base then remove those screws which will be screwed into MW base. This was how my MW was held in place.

We are thinking about purchasing the 22 ft club lounge, does anyone have any reviews on this van? For us to upgrade so it has off road capabilities we are having to spend quite a lot of money, making the van come in at around 120,000 dollars

how can I be sure that the good reviews are not FAKED

Chris
Chris

There are no guarantees that any review is faked, however, I would encourage you to read the many reviews about poor after sales service. That is where your caravan experience can become a nightmare. I am pleased that my van is now out of warranty because I can now choose a reputable, competent and honest service and repair company - all the things that I found New Age not to be.

Thanks Chris,I have also moved away from New AGe and bought another brand, good riddance and never again will be stepping anywhere near them

I believe that you both provide fake reviews- I still have NA van- actually 2 and never had problems outlined by you. Happy to discuss with you anytime.

Sam- my review of my Big Red is honest and very truthfully- it amazes me that the only time the Chris responds on this page is when he replies to a negative remark- not once has he responded to my remarks. Must be a negative person in life.

Hi Chris and Sam- just to let you both know that I am still enjoying my NA Big Red Van and no issues whatsoever. Have a great day.

Does anyone have more positive notes on this van

Vic P.

HI Steve- I have my Big Red 20' slider for over 12 months, completed over 10k travelling and no problems at all. Very happy with my van and NA in general.

Chris
Chris

No positive notes from me regarding New Age, they're great sales people but when things go wrong I found them to be hard to contact, dishonest and only provided poor quality, quick and cheap repairs. I will never buy from them again.

Vic P.
Vic P.

HI Chris- you only respond when you have nothing constructive to say. mate be happy in life and you need to be more positive rather than being so negative. I do not appreciate when someone is being dishonest themselves and especially about something that I own. Happy to discuss with you. Enjoy life and be positive.

length of awing

Chris
Chris

Hi Bev, DO NOT BUY A CARAVAN FROM NEW AGE! Their after sales support is appalling. They have lied to us on numerous occasions, saying they have repaired warranty issues that were obviously not repaired. They have refused to honour warranties despite the consumer law clearly stating their responsibilities. The problem is that the ACCC does not have the power to compel compliance with the law, they can only provide guidance. The caravan industry is unregulated and New Age take full and complete advantage of this. Do yourself a favour, and avoid the stress of going through what we did, and buy elsewhere.

Chris
Chris

Also, the New Age web site that is used to contact/complain is designed in a way that you, the customer, do not get to keep a copy of your correspondence. You cannot just e-mail them directly. You have to find your own way of keeping a record of your contact with them. Dodgy!!!!

Hi Chris- which van do you own or have had. Hopefully not a Jayco.

Differences between the manta ray and the big red caravans? In general if we are after a triple bunk van to stay on road?

Chris
Chris

Hi Donna, If I were in the position of buying a caravan again, I would steer away from New Age altogether. We found New Age after sales service was poor to non-existent, they were deceptive and tricky and they refused to honour warranties. I recommend you go to a more reputable brand.

Vic P.
Vic P.

Not sure what has eventuated with you Chris however I can voucher that I have all times received outstanding service and backup from NA to the point that I purchased my second van- Big Red 19 with the slide out. Under warranty with my Manta Ray I have had one of the legs replaced, a blind, and electric brakes for no cost- now that is service. Regards Vic Pardini

I agree with Chris we bought our new age about twelve years ago but although we like it we have had problems that they don't want to know about Will not return calls they're all over us until we pulled out of the yard then it's it's our problem

Vic P.
Vic P.

So your van is 12 years old- not bad for a caravan. Not sure what is your "beef" given that your van is 12 years old and from your info- you still have.

what 4wd would be best for towing a big red 19foot slider?

SEDGIE
SEDGIE

Hi Tony, The Only suitable 4WD Vehicle to tow a Big Red is a 200 Series TD Toyota LandCruiser. This is due to a 3500 Towing capacity by Toyota with most likely the need to do a 500 GVM Upgrade. Its the preferred tow vehicle of choice within the ACC. Hopefully this will assist you.

Batteries have just died on our BR22CL (Deluxe) - Purchased 26th March, 2018. Will be arriving in Townsville later this week. Will not deal with New Age dealership, MotoCo, in this area. Can I go to a reputable battery outlet, on arrival, to confirm batteries are dead & will this be covered by warranty? David Arndell Coleman [details removed] 0750h Monday, 8th. April. 2019

Chris, suggest you make contact with New Age Assist in Melbourne and see if they can assist you with your battery problems. Graeme

Has anyone else had drawer catches break and drawers come out while travelling in any New Age van? I have a Dessert Rose and I have had this happen. It seems to be a design fault which New Age will not correct.

WG46
WG46

The draw catches New Age use are available at Bunnings. If its your pot draw we had a 3rd catch added, this solved our problem.

Gazz
Gazz

Yes you are correct, it is the pot drawer. I am still worried the type of catch New Age uses is not strong enough as we were not off road when the catches bent and broke. We have an off road van and are planning a long off road trip and are now nervous about how it will perform.

WG46
WG46

Ours has not gone off the black and smooth. We took ours thru Cunningham Gap in July and again in Sept, if anything is going to shake the place up that will, the draw stayed closed. When we first found ours on the floor we used a couple of plastic bags tied together and around the pot draw handle and the post of the cupboard above, we could close the cupboard doors and it kept the draw in place. So if you feel unsure tie it closed. Really poor fittings for such an expensive caravan.

Gazz
Gazz

I have now heard that this problem is common to other New Age owners. I agree that this expensive van has poor fittings.
